A Fated Match: HIS VAMPIRE HAREM–A Review

Hi there! Today, I’m featuring a review of a contemporary M/M menage paranormal romance from Lily Harlem. HIS VAMPIRE HAREM features a model who has no idea about his paternity, or that he might be the savior four vampires have been searching for.

About the book: He’s special. He just doesn’t know it yet.

Darius Linnet has it all. He’s a top male model, he’s traveled the world, and everyone wants to either be him or be with him.

But would they really want to walk in his shoes? Because when emotions consume him, heated sparks fly. When he sleeps, his dreams take on an other-worldly twist. And his perfect body–sometimes it doesn’t even feel like his own.

Until, that is, he meets a group of sexy, mysterious men who claim they’ve been searching for him for centuries. He’s their savior, apparently, the key to their release from eternal damnation. They love him and they want to show him the pleasure he’s been denying himself. There’s only one problem: Darius’s demon father has other ideas.

My Review:

Darius Linnet is a mid-20s male model with otherworldly looks that really captivate. It makes sense since his father was an incubus. Darius never knew his dad, since he is a demon, but he’s dedicated to his mother, who is a kind and gentle woman. He’s a virgin, only recognizing that he’s gay in theory. Some fellow models have hit on him, but he’s always declined, thinking that he needs a real emotional connection before he engages in intimacy with a partner.

While on location in Paris, Darius meets Lloyd in a deserted courtyard. He has no idea that Lloyd is a vampire, or that Lloyd felt compelled to stay there in wait of someone who could be the prophesied savior of himself and three other vampires. As it stands, vampires who are unsaved will have an eternity of hell to look forward to, no matter how upstanding they are in their un-life. So, Lloyd strikes up a conversation, finds out a bit about Darius and then his team, consisting of Oscar, George, and Rhys, are on the case to determining if Darius could be the man of their dreams.

Oscar hangs out in his hotel, ensuring nothing untoward happens to Darius, who finds the tall biker so sexy. The share a flight home to London, but then Rhys peeks in to make sure his mum’s washer machine is fixed properly, and George turns up on the set of a sexy ad shoot. Meanwhile, all of them are working to seduce Darius and get him amenable not only to helping them save their souls, but also to fall in love with them….all.

Darius is plagued by dreams he doesn’t understand, but meeting the four vamps, once he knows who and what they are, starts to clear up the mystery. It seems that Darius’ father has been keeping tabs on him, with the plan to sacrifice his son’s life to wreak havoc on humanity. This story is a sweet and interesting with some nice sexytimes. We have a good bit of the backstory explained, as well as an agreement on how to move forward. Just when it seems they will all be saved Daddy Dearest Demon turns up with a giant spanner into the works.

I read the sequel which does wrap the whole story up nicely, but it’s a fun entre into the reverse-harem experience. Darius is an innocent, hearing of these supernatural beings for the first time. He doesn’t quite believe things are so extraordinary, but his new experiences are rapidly changing his mind. The menage/reverse harem is handled well, with the vampires really only physically interested in sexytimes with Darius, to whom they are completely committed, both emotionally and sexually. It’s fun to watch the different personality dynamics develop, and see Darius blossom in his new and exceptional life.

* * * *

Today the authors are answering this question… Who is your favourite British celebrity, past or present? What is it that draws you to this person?

Ashe Barker: There are several, but one of my favourites has to be Professor Brian Cox. He can reveal the mysteries of the Universe to me any day of the week. He’s so hot, and with a brain the size of a small planet. I’m always a sucker for an intelligent hero.

M K Elliott: My current favourite would be Idris Elba. I love the rough, no nonsense attitude he has about him, plus he’s ridiculously hot!

Lucy Felthouse: My favourite crushes change quite frequently, or should I say I find new ones to add to the ridiculously long list of sexy men I enjoy looking at! 😉 My muse for the doctor in this story, Blake, was Richard Armitage. I’d been dreaming about him quite a lot, and I realised I’d never based a character on him. I also thought he’d make a sexy doctor… and voila! I’m fond of Richard Armitage because he’s tall, has a glint in his eye which makes him look very naughty, and he’s epic at doing a sexy smoulder. Somehow, he even makes Thorin Oakenshield hot!

K D Grace: My favourite British celebrity has to be Sir David Attenborough. I love his enthusiasm and his passion for nature and the great outdoors. I love that even into his nineties, he is still passionate about this planet and preserving the natural world and, best of all sharing it with others. There’s nothing more attractive to me than a man with a passion.

Lily Harlem: Oh no, I have so many! Springing into my mind are Sean Bean, Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson (born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland), Henry Cavill, Daniel Craig… oh dear, the list goes on…

Ashley Lister: Anthony Stewart Head. I’ve always been a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan, and Anthony Stewart Head played Mr Giles, a quintessential English librarian, a heroic mentor to the lead character: but a mentor with a dark past. He also played a superb Dr Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Sarah Masters: David Jason. I loved him as Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses. He’s such a cheeky bloke but at the same time, despite coming across as selfish, he has a heart of gold underneath.

Tabitha Rayne: That’s too hard. I can’t answer. Too many – rock Gods like Mick Jagger, crazy geniuses like, Beardy Man – ooo the list would be endless, honestly, give me a glass of champers and we can talk all night about awesome people who inspire and thrill.

My Review:
This is a delicious boxed set of novellas that feature British men getting their kink on.

Hard Riders By Ashe Barker
Liam meets Jackson while swooning over Jackson’s superbike. They ride together, and enjoy a bit of public sex, to boot. Liam’s a young barrister, sure his big gay secret is buried deep in his closet. He’s startled to find Jackson owns the nearby sex shop that Liam frequents, and he’s even more shocked to be pursued by sexy Jackson. Their sexual chemistry is great, but I really liked how Liam opened up–with a bit of prodding by his sharp mum–into something much more. It gets intense fast, especially when Jackson insists Liam stand up for himself and not treat his lover like a dirty secret. Yummy, kinky sexytimes for these two…

All Roped Up By M K Elliott
Alex is an investigative reporter hoping to get an insider’s look at bare knuckle boxing by interviewing the champ, Conner. Conner’s interested in more than an article–like tying up the sexy young reporter. They get it on, in a super hot frenzy, but when the passions cool, it’s still not over. As the men get more invested, Alex is nervous to scratch deeper beneath the grimy surface, but his instincts are sharp, and the story is right, even if Alex gets it out int he worst possible way. Good thing Conner’s a great guy…

Doctor’s Orders By Lucy Felthouse
Aaron and Blake have been partners for ten years now. They have a loving consensual D/s relationship with Blake being the dominating dirty doc. As Aaron’s birthday approaches Blake blows Aaron’s mind with some kinky games including a brand new toy that would torture Aaron just right on their day of exploring. I really liked how in tune with each other Blake and Aaron are. Especially in BDSM pairings, I love when there’s a strong bond.

Toys for Boys By K D Grace
This is a fun “buddy adventure” that starts off with two strangers on a walking tour across England. Will is a tech guy and ‘Doc’ is the navigator and they are supposed to test a whole bunch of gear for articles in their online magazine for men. Everything goes wrong on this trip, with lashing rains, snows and leaky tents. The one thing that works: them. They have some serious sexy fun while on the road, and often record themselves getting off with the mini cam they use to document their trip. I loved how they got the help of one sexy author to film them at a hotel! This was my fave book in the bunch.

Mile High Kink Club By Lily Harlem
Rhodri and Darius are matched by Gay Hook Ups, and it’s an interesting situation, that. Rhodri’s older and a hard-bodied construction worker, but Darius is a young and wealthy stock trader. That sort of rubs Rhodri the wrong way…but the way Darius follows his every order goes a long way to smoothing his rough edges. Their simple dinner date turns into an erotic adventure to the northernmost edge of the British Isles, and a very sexy trip it is…

Open Mike By Ashley Lister
Ken has a bittersweet task in front of him: to read poetry at a wedding. He’s still in shock over the couple, but agrees, despite having a fear of speaking publicly. He enlists the help of Mike, an experienced poet, to coach him through the process. They are a good match, and Ken thinks his luck in love may be turning…but Mike’s inability to produce any new poetry feeds Ken’s new insecurity. It’s a new chapter for both of them, when they’re confessing all their dirty secrets.

I Get You By Sarah Masters
Morton and Warren had no idea the depth of their fascination with the other until Warren makes a glib comment one day regarding Morton’s workaholic ways. Sparked into action, Morton takes Warren on a week-long trip for work, but the time is also spent in play. I liked how they were so naive with each other, and how they stumbled into something really interesting and fulfilling, almost by accident. It was sweet and sexy and lovely. Wished I could have joined them on the beach! My second fave of the bunch.

The Guitar By Tabitha Rayne
Kel is a guitarist in a punk band, and he’s pretty sure he’s ugly. The other band mates get lots of attention, but Kel’s generally overlooked. At a gig Kel notices one beautiful man staring at him from the crowd. He plays to that man, and fantasizes there is a connection, but he’s too embarrassed and occupied with his band business to pursue anything. When Damien, the beautiful guy, shows up at more gigs they get to talking…and then some. This is a quirky one, with some steam and some shame. Poor Kel’s really got his head screwed up, but Damien’s a persistent one, and he helps Kel to see the best side of himself.

What happened to 2015?!

book meme 6So…wow! The year’s end already? I’m a bit stunned, but also grateful. Some years whoosh by like a snowplow burying me under, but this year I’ve had the opportunity to read some really fun books, travel and interact with fantastic authors and review-types, like myself, and enjoy many moments along the way.

I’ve mentioned in the past that I also write, and I’m at the point of sending out a manuscript to agents coming next week. Fingers crossed that I’ll have the chance to promote some of my own fiction one day soon!

Book meme 3For the blog, I’ve gotten some great stats. Nearly 13,000 pages views this year. Not bad for a relatively unknown chick who drones on and on about books. If you’ve signed up to get my posts emailed, you’re in good company–140 of you special folks right now. Thanks for joining me on this madcap escapade! Lots of people are finding my reviews, and reading them/sharing them. I appreciate that so much, because it’s not easy reading and writing content to support the blog. It takes hours and hours each day, in fact. My hubs will attest he’d much rather I gave (most of) it up, so I could just sit and veg out watching TV with him…crossing his fingers that that might ever happen. TV is not really my thing.

book meme 5

Goodreads tells me I read 375 books this year, but it’s been more. I didn’t log all my reads, though there are few that didn’t get reviews there. I have had a great time working with Joyfully Jay Reviews, picking up some excellent reads through their platform and generally interacting with those lovely folks. Authors have reached out to me and I’ve reached back, supporting their fiction in the best way I can. That’s a wonderfully rewarding experience, emotionally, and helps my pocketbook from getting TOO frayed. Yes, there are books that I do buy, and I cherish all my books–whether they were purchased or gifted for my review.

As this is a year’s end recap, it’s apt to highlight some books/series that got into my brain in the past 12 months.

Best read of the year:
No question it was CARRY THE OCEAN by Heidi Cullinan. This book touched my soul and left it altered for the better. Having suffered depression in my life, and having close friends/family with kids on the Autism Spectrum, this plain-spoken M/M romance between a brilliant autistic man and his depressive neighbor was spectacular.

Best YA read:
NOT IF I SEE YOU FIRST by Eric Lindstrom. Touching tale of an orphaned blind girl who learns to “see” everyone she knows in the best light–even herself.

Best YA series:
I’ve really enjoyed reading the Backstage Pass series of contemporary YA romances between the members of the boy band Seconds To Juliet and the smart, worthwhile girls the boys all fall for. There are five books in the series, and I think I reviewed 4 of them…
Abby and the Cute One, Mia and the Bad Boy, Anya and the Shy Guy, Daisy and the Front Man.

Book Meme-1Best Adrenaline Rush:
KICK AT THE DARKNESS by Keira Andrews, a zombie apocalypse M/M romance kept me glued to my iPad long into the night, and the next day.

Best SciFi series:
I’ve really enjoyed the AI world carved out by Susan Kaye Quinn’s Legacy Human series. It’s a bit dystopian, a bit tech and a bit romance. And I love all those bits! Looking forward to reading more of this in 2016. THE LEGACY HUMAN, THE DUALITY BRIDGE, STORIES OF SINGULARITY.

Best contemporary New Adult series:
Karen Stivali’s Moments in Time series is really a must read for me. This is a contemporary M/M romance which is emotional and sexy, at the same time. I’ve loved all four Moments books so far, and eagerly anticipate the next release. MOMENT OF IMPACT, MOMENT OF TRUTH, MOMENT OF CLARITY, and MOMENT OF SILENCE.
book meme 7
Best Paranormal Romance:
THE SECRET CASEBOOK OF SIMON FEXIMAL by KJ Charles rocked my world and set it right again. Historical M/M paranormal romance that kept me turning the page long after I went to bed.

Most Resilient Heroines: (Teen)
Ivy in THE REVOLUTION OF IVY by Amy Engel–She takes on her entire desolate town and finds the true love of her life. YA dystopian.

Lulu in MY BEST EVERYTHING by Sarah Tomp. West Virginian high school senior Lulu’s college fund has dried up, but she can’t bear to stay in her small town any longer. So, she enlists the help of Mason to make a fortune selling illegal moonshine. YA contemporary.

Morgan La Fey in SWORD by Realm Lovejoy. Morgan kidnaps a prince, drags him through the swamps of Camelot and helps him find Excalibur–all to thwart a murder plot. And her execution? Wow. YA fantasy.
Book Meme 4
Best Action/Adventure:
I AM THE TRAITOR is the final installment in the Unknown Assassin series by Allen Zadoff. You really need to strap in and read I AM THE WEAPON and I AM THE MISSION, first. You’ll thank me. YA contemporary.

Best Enemies to Lovers:
Historical
TO LOVE A TRAITOR by JL Merrow really flipped all my historical British M/M romance switches…
Christmas Romance
IF ONLY IN MY DREAMS by Keira Andrews took two battered hearts and shoved them into a car on a cross-country trek to make it home in time for Christmas. Swoon.

Best erotica:
The CAUGHT ON CAMERA series by Lily Harlem is spectacular M/M romance. Just loved all the sexy sexy bits, and the romance that developed between two new-to-porn stars on a filming trip was tender and lovely.

Best Menage:
M/F/M
THREE TWO ONE by JA Huss. Hot and chilling, by turns. This is a dark romance and not everyone makes it out alive.
M/M/M
SHARING A POND by Alex Whitehall. Frog Shifters. Pretty much knocked me out. Not the sexytimes, as those were satisfactory, but the emotional issues were excellent, and I’ve got a thing for frogs, I think.
Historical M/F/M:
THE MISTRESS AND HER MEN by Julia Talbot. A sassy widow and a daring nobleman–plus some BDSM? Yes, mistress!
Historical M/M/M:
RITE OF SUMMER by Tess Bowery was so loving and tender, and troubled.

Best Near Historical:
IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT by Judy Blume, historical fiction featuring her true-life experience of living in a town where three airplanes crashed within 59 days of each other. Harrowing!

Best Recovery Story:
CLEAN by Mia Kerick. This one gave me chills. M/M YA romance between two guys who’ve been down and out and almost didn’t make it.

book-meme-8Best Subculture:
Who knew the Amish would captivate me? I adored Keira Andrew’s M/M Amish Romances A FORBIDDEN RUMSPRINGA, A CLEAN BREAK, and A WAY HOME. They really touched my heart.

Honestly, I could go on for blogs, and blogs. But I won’t; books to read, books to write after all! That said, I’m looking forward to sharing reviews for great books in the coming year and I hope you’ll enjoy reading along with me.

Feel free to send me your recommendations. Goodness knows, I’ll probably pick it up. (Fiction, and preferably romance-ish, though. I don’t review non-fiction, memoir or cookbooks.)

Thanks for popping in, and keep reading my friends!

Getting Over it With a TOY BOY–A Review

Hi there! Today, I’m featuring a review of a contemporary romance from Lily Harlem. TOY BOY is a touching story about an inadvertent cougar and the younger man with whom she falls in love.

Toy BoyAbout the book:
Getting something unexpected can be a shock, but it can also be a wonderful treat, if you allow yourself to indulge, that is.

Kay is bubbling with excitement. She’s booked a sailing holiday of a lifetime in Greece with a man she’s fallen for hook, line and sinker. They met on the Internet. She’s from Oxford, he’s from Washington State. She’s a business lecturer, he runs his own successful business.

They’re perfect for each other, and she can’t wait to meet him and spend time in and out of his bed, allowing him to seduce her for real and not just with softly spoken words over the telephone.

But when she arrives in the idyllic port of Fiscardo, she’s in for a shock. There’s a reason Sullivan’s photographs were grainy, and it’s not because he’s sporting a potbelly or balding as she’d suspected. It’s because he’s over a decade younger than her and could rival any Greek god in the looks department. What’s more, his sex appeal and lust for her is off the scale.

Should Kay take what she can with her ‘toy boy’ and have some fun in the sun or hop on the first plane back to England? It’s a tricky decision for a woman who believed she couldn’t be surprised by life anymore.

My Review:
Oh! The INTERNET!!!

Kay is a 42 y/o widow who has been having an online relationship with Sullivan, a man she thinks is her perfect match. They are both successful people–she’s a business management prof at Oxford, and he owns his own company in Washington State. They have spent countless hours online and on the phone revealing their hearts and souls to each other, and Sullivan has finally convinced Kay to meet him in person, in Greece, for a week-long holiday on a sailboat. Just the two of them.

She is beyond excited to share air with this man who has her fragile heart in his palm. But, the Internet strikes!

See, Kay has only seen Sullivan’s picture once in all the months they have chatted, and it was not the best pic. It was grainy and Sullivan was all covered in his winter garb. She’s a bit nervous that he might not be representing himself honestly, but she’s in love with the MAN, not his face, right? He could be balding under that winter beanie, or hiding a paunch under his navy parka, but that’s okay because he is her soulmate.

She’s so shattered when he steps off the boat to greet her. No! NONONONONO! How? Who?

Sullivan isn’t balding, our paunchy. He doesn’t have any horrible scarring or facial piercings. He’s actually stunning. And he’s 28 years old.

Devastated by his shell game, Kay wants to return to Oxford, with haste, but she’s in Greece and has no immediate resources–again the Internet FAILS her, with no service in this remote port and the travel agencies having closed for the evening. With nowhere to stay Sullivan, who’s pretty broken over Kay’s complete refusal to entertain any discourse regarding his age and her uninvited cougar status, convinces Kay to sleep in the boat’s cabin for the night. And then, he sets sail at daybreak effectively shanghai-ing her back into her planned vacation.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS.

I had a lot of trepidation over Sullivan’s shadiness, but his desperation to win Kay over was as forthright as it comes. He never expected she’d be so put off by his age, and he craves her wisdom and steadfastness–she’s a well-settled woman who doesn’t need his money and isn’t looking for a meal ticket. She’s smart and they have fascinating conversations. Sullivan is convinced they will be happy together, if only Kay will give him he opportunity to prove it.

I was so glad she did. The emotional back-and-forth Kay puts herself through is pretty enlightening, and speaks volumes about society’s mores regarding partnerships where a large (in this case 14 years) age difference exists, and the double-standard of that regarding older women. Truth is, I was enchanted by Sullivan, and it took Kay less than 24 hours to recognize that, truly, she fell in love with the man–not his age. The HEA is spectacular, and the sexytimes are as delish as the descriptions of beautiful Greece and its delectable cuisine. Yum.

Loved By A DARK WARRIOR–A Review

Hi there! Today I’m sharing my review for a release from Lily Harlem. DARK WARRIOR is a contemporary bi-racial M/M romance between a traveling doctor and a Kenyan nurse. And, it’s getting hot on the savannah… 😉

Dark WarriorAbout the book:
While some passions live on the surface, others—wilder, darker passions—have to be kept buried deep.

Dr. Leo Rotherham is following his calling by working in rural Kenya for the charity Medics On Hand. While he expected a primitive way of life and limited medical supplies, what he doesn’t bargain on is falling for handsome village warrior, Malik.

Malik is well respected, knowledgeable and loyal to his tribe. He’s also beautiful, brave, modern and, much to Leo’s dismay, married—isn’t he?

No, it turns out Malik is as free as the animals that roam the African plains at night.

Soon the tension is building between the two men and Leo isn’t sure if he’s coming or going. Whenever he’s around Malik he can’t help but notice the reflected look of lust in his eyes and feel the longing sizzling between them.

Malik stands too close, not close enough. Forbidden attraction simmers between them and the need grows to dizzying heights. But dare they admit to each other what it is they want? And are they brave enough to act on their desires and be honest about their lust? One thing is for sure, a passion this big, this powerful, can’t be contained and it’s all going to explode in the most spectacular of ways.

My Review:
Leo is down of relationships since he and his long-term boyfriend split after 5 years together. He’s been celibate for 18 months, trying to move on, and decides to make the most of his training in tropical medicine serving a month in rural Kenya to work with Doctors On Hand. He is blown away by the beauty, yet desolate poverty, of the tiny village where he is stationed.

His medical training is desperately needed, and he digs right in beside one of the most stunningly beautiful men he has ever seen, Malik. Malik is not only an educated man who spent years in Nairobi, at nursing school and then as a nurse, he is a large man, built like the African warriors of yore. But he is home now amongst his family who live in this small village. In addition to assisting in the clinic, Malik hunts food for his large family and runs the local school. Leo’s absent libido is sorely tested working with Malik, but he knows better than to discuss his homosexuality with anyone in Africa–he truly fears beatings or worse.

It is a careful dance, but Malik learns that Leo is aroused by him, and makes a very cautious foray into the personal realm. Even if Malik returns Leo’s advances, there is no privacy in this village, and Malik’s parents want him to get married. Plus, Malik’s sister has her eye on Leo. It’s all-around difficult.

But not impossible…

This is a refreshing romance written about two men from very different cultures finding love where they least expected it. The setting is lovely, and the stakes are high–neither can be found out. Also, there’s the element of danger with the nearby lions, snakes and hippos–not to mention marauders who come to rob the village. The romance is tender, yet spicy, with the added dimension of the racial differences. Expect an HEA, and a whole lotta sexytimes. I received a copy for my honest review.

Compelled to BREATHE YOU IN–A Review

Hi there! Today I’m reviewing a newly re-released contemporary romance from Lily Harlem. BREATHE YOU IN is the grief-recovery story of Katie, a young widow, and Ruben, a man who received a heart-lung transplant. The catch? Ruben’s donor was Katie’s husband.

imageAbout the book:
Soul-aching desire was only the first layer of emotion around a secret I had to keep for all of time.

If the road to Heaven starts in Hell then I was ready to start climbing my way out and Ruben Strong was the man to accompany me. With his devastating good looks, seductively sexy charm and lust for adrenaline he was sure to make it a sensual and erotic experience as well as one to re-awake the passionate, throw-caution-to-the-wind woman I’d once been.

I’d given Ruben something, though, without him realizing, and that gift had come from the man I’d loved before. But I couldn’t tell Ruben. I had to keep that a tight secret even on the nights our naked bodies wound together, sought out pleasure and hit the dizzy heights of ecstasy. Because Ruben had my husband’s heart, literally, and that heart was still in love with me, so it seemed, and now I was in love with Ruben.

Emotions tangled with bliss and fears were locked away as I surrendered to the touch of Ruben’s hands, the taste of his skin and the sounds of his pleasure. I couldn’t deny that Ruben had brought me back to life the same way I had him and there was no way I was giving up that feeling, not for anyone.

My Review:
This is story about second chances in life and love.

Katie has been living a half-life of depression since her husband Matt died. More than a year since the funeral, Katie still has nightmares and struggles to survive in their home surrounded by constant reminders of their deep love and her great loss. Recently, she has become obsessed over the health of the person who received Matt’s heart and lungs as a transplant. Desperate to know if the recipient is healthy and happy–thinking this will give her peace and allow her to move through her grief–she hires a private detective to find the identity of the man with Matt’s organs.

Learning his name (Ruben) and place of work (less than 40 minutes drive) Katie impetuously plans to take a peek–just to confirm that she made the right decision about organ donation. That actually SEEING this Ruben will show her how Matt didn’t die for nothing, but saved someone in the process.

A chance meeting turns into conversation. Ruben is charming and friendly, saving Katie from two awkward moments. This cathartic encounter with Ruben tips off Katie’s new life. In the course of their conversation Katie states that she’s moving to Ruben’s town, and thinks “why not?” She has the financial wherewithal to do so, and starting over somewhere fresh may allow her to stretch her wings again.

She moves and changes jobs. In her new space, Katie isn’t always seen as ‘the widow’ and she can breathe again, releasing some of her deep grief. That Ruben helps her do this, is especially poignant. Ruben befriends Katie, and they get on very well–moving into a romantic relationship. Katie is scared Ruben will learn that she knows he received Matt’s organs, but she feels so free with Ruben. He is so kind and thoughtful, and, around Ruben, she wants to experience life for the first time since Matt died.

This story had the prospect of being gloomy or icky–but instead it was touching and lovely. Taking careful steps into connection, Katie and Ruben find a real love together.

They Were CAUGHT ON CAMERA–Reviews! (And, a FREE book!)

Hi there! Today I’m sharing reviews for Lily Harlem’s scorching new M/M serial, CAUGHT ON CAMERA. This five-part romance is erotic and sensual, following a love affair that develops between two porn stars. THIS is an ADULT read.

About the Books:

When Reece Carter is caught on camera canoodling with hunky gardener Cade Davenport, a new, super-sexy opportunity presents itself that he just can’t walk away from.

Reece Carter is working hard and feeling the heat. It’s a scorching hot day and he’s slaving away indoors. But at least he has a nice view from the window—sexy gardener Cade Davenport—no job too big or too small—who is mowing the lawn minus his shirt.

Soon thirst overcomes Reece and he finds himself swimming, kissing and getting frisky in the hot tub with the super-confident, seize-the-moment Cade, whose wit, humour and cocky smile is irresistible.

What Reece doesn’t know is that the walls have ears and the trees have eyes. His every moan, gasp and erotic move is being recorded in fine and shocking detail.

But what does that mean? And what about the intriguing offer Cade puts to him? Shouldn’t he just punch his lights out for filming him without permission? And will Reece’s life ever be the same again after being caught on camera?

My Review:

This series follows two Brit men, Reece–a painter–and Cade–a gardener, as they embark on new careers as porn stars, together.  Reece never suspected what Cade was setting him up for, when Cade suggested a break from the work they were doing at the same country mansion.

Their illicit tryst in the pool/hot tub was a calculated maneuver, but the end result is…love.

Okay, it takes a bit of the long way ’round, but yes, there’s a lot of love to go with the sex. And, there’s a LOT of sex. See, Cade has a plan when he first sees the painter doing a room refresh at the mansion where he also works. Cade knows Tom, the homeowner, makes gay porn movies, well, because Cade has done a couple smaller shoots for his production company. Cade is attracted to Reece and is able to tempt him into some au natural attention–which happens to be recorded by hidden camera. Cade sends Reece a teaser of “their” movie, and, though Reece is mortified, he’s also turned on.

Tom gets a look at their movie and he likes what he sees. He offers Reece some cash for a simple scene, and Reece is swayed not just by the cash, but also by Cade’s insistence on doing the scene with Reece. Reece doesn’t want to read to much into it, but he’s intrigued by Cade’s interest. He’s also quite excited by his scene partner.

Their first scene goes great, and a contract is offered for a feature because Cade and Reece have fantastic chemistry. Each novella in the series is a separate scene for the film and the growing relationship. Expect menage and scripted BDSM fun. Reece tells the whole story, but Cade is especially candid. He likes Reece, a lot, and wants more than just the scripted sex.

Still, once the cameras stop rolling, can these two find room in their lives for a…boyfriend?

Each episode is incendiary, but sensual, too. I latched on to this series from the start and looked forward to each release, but now the whole thing is available and a must-read for lovers of M/M erotic romance. I’m a total sucker for Brit men, and these guys are positively edible. Sweet and sassy, and insatiable and courageous sexually. The ending is perfect, and horribly wrong–because I absolutely didn’t want this book to end!

She Was IN EXPERT HANDS–A Review

Okay, so how did you like FSOG? *winks* A lady never tells…. ha!
In any event, the 50 Shades “revolution” as only turned up the stage lights on all the fantastic erotica authors out there, among them Lily Harlem. I’ve been reading Lily’s books for probably 18 months now, and I’ve loved all her scorching stories of connection, and reconnection. Last week, she released IN EXPERT HANDS and I was not disappointed!

Disclaimer: This is an adult erotic read, and I received a review copy from the author, because I’m a big fan…

In Expert HandsAbout the Book:
Imogen White has it all—a high-flying career, a prestigious London home and friends she knows will fight her corner. She’s going up, and she’s in control, she’s also got the hots for one very important, very sexy client.

Kane Ward is a self-made billionaire whose determination to be the best of the best has left him alone. He has everything money can buy, yachts, jets, and villas in all four corners of the globe, but even he can’t buy time to suit his needs.

And his needs are very specific, his desires a particular shade of kink and his tastes anything but vanilla. So when he sets his sights on Imogen it’s a given that things are going to get dark, that pleasure will be laced with pain and determining his success will be measured by her blushes and gasps and cries of delight. But Imogen doesn’t need to worry, she’s in expert hands and her every fantasy is about to come true—and then some she’d never imagined in her wildest dreams.

Excerpt:

“Would you like a drink?” he asked over the sound of the music.

“I’m okay, unless you want one.”

“No. I drank water after my workout.” He urged her forward. “So shall we go straight into a playroom?”

“If that’s what you want?”

He glanced at his watch. “There should be something going on to satisfy our voyeur plans for the evening.”

They stepped toward the bar.

Kane indicated another doorway at the opposite end that had a chain mail curtain hanging from its frame. “It’s through there.”

“Ah, K. Long time no see.” A man wearing a similar jacket to Kane’s but with only two stars over the breast pocket extended his hand.

He didn’t wear a mask and Imogen could see that his smile was genuine.

“Nate, how have you been?” Kane took his hand and they shook.

“Great, been in the City for a few weeks on business. Making the most of my free time by coming here.” Nate turned to Imogen and raised his eyebrows. “You have company.”

“Don’t look so surprised.” Kane squeezed Imogen a little closer.

“I am. You don’t usually bring guests. Special occasion?”

Imogen felt Kane tense. She sensed he wasn’t enjoying having his break from the ordinary commented on.

“No occasion,” Kane said. “Good to see you, Nate, perhaps we’ll get a chance to catch up later.”

“Yep. That would be cool.” Nate held up what appeared to be a glass of fizzy water and nodded. He kept his attention on Imogen. “Enjoy your evening here at Sub Space. I’m sure Master K will address your every need.”

“Thank you.” Imogen smiled then felt her cheeks heat as Nate swept his gaze down her body—starting at the collar, then lingering on her breasts and finally on her boots.

Kane stepped forward, tugging her with him. “This way.”

After several paces she touched the collar. “This, around my neck,” she said quietly. “What would happen if I wasn’t wearing it?”

“It would make you fair bait for men like Nate, who are just out to play in a scene, find someone to hook up with.” He glanced at her. “He had no right to look at you like that.”

“Well, the outfit kind of screams look at me.”

“That’s not the point.”

“Oh.” She was confused. “It’s not?”

“No. You’re with me. I’ve claimed you with a collar. What’s more, I outrank him. He should show more respect.”

“You outrank him?”

“Of course.” He pulled back the chain curtain and opened a door. He ushered Imogen into the new room.

Imogen opened her mouth and stared around, thoughts of Nate vanishing.

Kane moved her from the doorway and into the shadows. He stepped behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist

“What are your first impressions?” he asked by her ear, his lips brushing her lobe and his breath heating a trail down her neck.

She leant back into him, loving being so close, held by him. But she couldn’t concentrate fully on his embrace because of what was before her. “It’s…sexy.”

“Mmm, I’m glad you think so,” he said, the soft material of his mask rubbing against her temple. “What else?”

She looked around. The room was sectioned into six large cubicles, each one decorated in dark tones and with a combination of low lights and spotlights. Each three-walled area held a bed or a table or some other piece of equipment in the center. Three spaces were occupied.

There was an audience, too, couples, singles, threesomes sitting on more large sofas. Imogen could only see the backs of their heads. Some appeared enraptured, others holding quiet conversations.

“Tell me,” Kane urged, slipping his hand over the smooth material covering her waist. “What do you think about that, over there, to your left.”

Imogen was already staring in that direction. It had been the main thing that had captured her attention.

A naked woman was bent double, tied to a skinny padded table with her ankles fastened to the legs and her arms stretched out on two platforms, crucifix-like. Her skin was pale except for her behind, which was scarlet.

Beside her stood a man—dressed like Kane in black trousers and a velvet jacket—wielding a flogger. He walked around the woman as if surveying the marks on her ass then cracked down the many strands over her skin.

Imogen jerked and a tingle traveled over her buttocks, as though her nerves were empathetic with what the woman on the table was going through.

The man hit again.

The woman groaned and moved her head, her face coming into Imogen’s view. She had her eyes screwed up tight and her lips were parted. There was a flush of red on her cheeks that matched the rosy blush on her backside.

“Talk to me,” Kane said softly.

“Is she enjoying it?” Imogen asked, although she was pretty sure she knew the answer. The woman appeared to be in ecstasy, as though she’d folded in on herself and only her body and sensation existed.

“Very much so,” Kane said. “Master Zen is very capable of working his sub towards orgasm just through striking her.”

“Are they just…playing a scene or are they…?”

“Lovers, committed to each other? Yes, actually those two are. They’re regulars here and live the lifestyle.”

“The lifestyle?”

“Yes.” He slid his hand to her collar and spanned it with his thumb and fingers. “They live full time as Dom and sub. He commands and she obeys.”

“It sounds…old-fashioned.” Imogen wasn’t sure about the obeying thing. She’d known friends who’d purposely had that removed from their wedding vows.

“It’s a symbiotic relationship,” Kane went on, smoothing his fingers around her collar and brushing her skin.

A small shiver ran down Imogen’s spine.

The woman was struck again—several times in fast succession. Imogen stared at the spectacle.

“You see,” Kane said. “She needs to be adored, cared for, taken through life by the man she loves. He needs to protect her, satisfy her, ensure that everything is perfect for her at all times. That is what makes him feel complete.”

“And that includes this. Beating?”

“Beating, spanking, flogging, whatever you want to call it, yes, it includes this, because that’s what they both enjoy, it’s their thing. It’s their kink.”

My Review:
Imogen is a successful independent woman running an investment bank branch. She has worked hard for to gain her position and her own life–a very different lifestyle than her own meager upbringing. A billionaire client of the bank, Kane Ward is one of her semi-regular appointments; they meet every three or four months to go over his portfolio. While Imogen finds this a tad more “in touch” than most of her uberwealthy clients, she can’t deny she looks forward to meeting with the sexy Mr. Ward.

This appointment is a bit more than the usual however. Mr. Ward, Kane, that is, wants Imogen’s consultation on his accounts, but insists the meeting must happen at an outside location, and Imogen must wear a pretty dress and a hat. Well! Okay, okay, Kane is ranked #18 on Britain’s wealthiest list, and Imogen DOES NOT want to lose his banking business. So, she complies. Only to learn that his private helicopter is flying them to luncheon meeting in his private box at Ascot. On Ladies Day.

Imogen can’t help being a bit swept away by Kane. Still, she’s a professional, and she insists on comporting herself as such. So, she agrees to accompany him on a business trip to assess new business interests that her bank can help–plus, Kane wants Imogen’s personal opinion on how to grow this new enterprise. She’s nervous, but willing.

Nothing prepares Imogen for this whirlwind trip to NYC, however. Private jet. Penthouse suite. Kinky sex club. Wait, what?

That’s right. Kane is setting up sex clubs and wants a woman’s opinion so that they are appealing to both sexes. Turns out delicious Kane is a Master Dom, and he had identified beautiful, professional, meticulous Imogen long, long ago as the woman he’d like to wear his collar.

Over the course of a few intense days, they experience a good bit of vanilla, kinky and downright BDSM-type smexytimes. Their feelings are true and fierce. Kane wants Imogen, badly, and wants to experience his complete dream relationship: a 24/7 power exchange. Though Kane has loved the idea of Imogen for two years, did he really understand her?

Imogen has desired Kane, silently, nearly as long as she’s known him, but could she handle the type of relationship he desires? Would she even want to? She’s sure lots of women would love a billionaire buying everything they desire, and doing whatever kinky play he wished for that kind of security, but Imogen is already more than self-sufficient. She likes working, and aspires to become the first female board member of her bank. Could she abandon her career and dreams to become Kane’s arm jewelry and sex-pet? Would she want to?

I really appreciated the step-wise development of this relationship. I loved Imogen and her strong goals. I liked Kane; he was kind, romantic and compassionate, while being a bit dim in the emotions department. I wanted him to “get it”, to understand that Imogen had greater purpose in her life than to jet-set around as his partner, and I think he finally did. Imogen established all the rules in this relationship, and nothing went forward without her consent, and approval. I liked how these two characters came from independent lives, and were able to forge a path that celebrated the best parts of each other.

A great read for people who enjoy BDSM stories, though the BDSM elements were very light. The focus here was on the power exchange and a healthy way to negotiate a relationship within that framework. I think the resolution of the plot was excellent, and I’d read more on this couple, for sure.

Christmas Read Round-Up…

Hi there! Today I’m catching up on all the Christmas reads I’ve read this fall. Some made the blog, others haven’t. Still, I’ve enjoyed these books, and hope you might find one (or three) to entertain you.

Hetero Romance

I adored Brenda Novak’s THE HEART OF CHRISTMAS. A great story about an unlikely couple finding love (and more) in Whiskey Creek.

In THE TROUBLE WITH CHRISTMAS a rich man finds a real holiday with a quiet, unassuming chef who pulls his coals from the fire. This is a novella.

Kat and Stone Bastion’s THREE CHRISTMASES is a steamy/sexy read.

A VERY MARRIED CHRISTMAS reunites an estranged couple on the brink of divorce. This one had a bit of steam, and a lot of heart.

Rivals find love in JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS. It’s a fun reconnection story about adults who had a teen attraction and come together to make it happen years later.

For those who want to reminisce over Christmases gone by, I loved 8-BIT CHRISTMAS about a boy growing up in the 1980’s and wishing for a Nintendo. It is not a romance, but it cracked me the heck up.

Super erotica from Lily Harlem–in the form of CHRISTMAS CRACKERS: CANDY CANES AND COAL DUST puts a downhearted woman at the center of a man-sandwich.

Kelly Jamieson’s THREE OF HEARTS features three country singers finding love…with each other. It’s a sexy menage.

HOLIDAY AT MAGNOLIA BAY is a nice military romance with a heart-warming familial reconciliation.

Gay Romance

Heidi Cullinan’s SLEIGH RIDE is a great M/M romance, with a super Christmas theme. I just adored this story, of a shy librarian and a out-and-proud lumberjack. D-Lish.

Charlie Cochet’s three novella North Pole series is sure worth checking out. MENDING NOEL, THE HEART OF FROST and VIXEN’S VALOR are building a well-landscaped world in the hinterland.

Cat Grant’s A YEAR IN THE LIFE begins a new series and a tender romance between a young, interracial couple.

Piper Vaughn’s THE WORKING ELF BLUES features a lonely man and the Christmas elf who loves him.

I just finished reading ONE HOLIDAY EVER AFTER which is a three novella compilation–and it’s fantastic. I haven’t had a chance to write a review for it, but oh! it’s a great read. I’ve attached the DREAMSPINNER LINK because it’s on sale there for 25% off. But you can also find it on Amazon.

Well, folks, that’s a good list to get started. I hope all who read this have a great holiday season and a Happy 2015!

As always, thanks for popping in and keep reading my friends!
