They Shared A FORBIDDEN RUMSPRINGA–A Review

Hi there! Here’s a sub-genre I never thought I’d read: Gay Amish Romance. But, I’ve been a fan of Keira Andrews for a bit now and I thought I’d give it a go. WOW!!! FYI:  This is an adult read.
A Forbidden Rumspringa (Gay Amish Romance #1)

About the book:
When two young Amish men find love, will they risk losing everything?

In a world where every detail of life—down to the width of a hat brim—is dictated by God and the all-powerful rules of the community, two men dare to imagine a different way. At 18, Isaac Byler knows little outside the strict Amish settlement of Zebulon, Minnesota, where there is no rumspringa for exploration beyond the boundaries of their insular world. Isaac knows he’ll have to officially join the church and find a wife before too long, but he yearns for something else—something he can’t name.

Dark tragedy has left carpenter David Lantz alone to support his mother and sisters, and he can’t put off joining the church any longer. But when he takes on Isaac as an apprentice, their attraction grows amid the sweat and sawdust. David shares his sinful secrets, and he and Isaac struggle to reconcile their shocking desires with their commitment to faith, family and community.

Now that they’ve found each other, are they willing to lose it all?

Note: Contains explicit sexual situations and graphic language. This is not an inspirational/Christian romance.

My Review:
I never thought I could get so beat up by forbidden Amish love. As a kid I remember seeing WITNESS and being blown away with this quiet, idyllic life–or so I thought!

Issac is 18 and due to begin Church in his sheltered devout Amish community in Zebulon, Minnesota. He has lived here for the past seven years, ever since his sect had broken from a more “worldly” Amish community in Ohio. This community breach occurred because three Amish teens drowned while intoxicated in the period of rumspringa, a time of youthful experimentation (rebellion) in Amish communities that precedes adulthood and marriage. Rumspringa is forbidden in their new community.

In this new community, Issac’s family is less well-off. In Ohio they were allowed to have English jobs and sell their handicrafts openly. Their new locale is far more remote and restrictive. The families must subsist off the land by farming, and minimal sales of wares to tourists. Issac is unsure how to live in this life–he’s not interested in farming–and he also misses his older brother, Aaron, who ran away.

Isaac’s father arranges for Isaac to become an apprentice carpenter, to David a man the community is questioning. David is 22 and unwed. This is strange, and Isaac wonders why David, who is industrious and attractive, is unmarried. He also feels shame for finding David attractive–especially as David’s sister, Mary, makes no secret of her interest in Isaac. All of Isaac’s friends are beginning “dating”, and Isaac has no interest in the women of their community.

Working with David becomes a torture–Isaac is so incredibly, shamefully, aroused by David. The best/worst thing? It seems David reciprocates.

Okay, David TOTALLY reciprocates. And David has a secret life in the “English” world that Isaac never could have dreamed. Together, David and Issac find love, but is it meant to be? There is no homosexuality in the Amish community, and especially not in their even more restrictive sect. Their time together becomes a forbidden rumspringa, and the longer it continues, the more dangerous their feelings become. If they are caught, they will be shunned, leaving David’s widowed mother and five sisters without a provider. Isaac fears his family will also suffer, having two sons who are shunned.

Still, as David takes steps to begin a family life, Isaac realizes that he cannot stay in Zebulon. His heart is David’s and he can’t go on pretending that he’ll one day marry. Isaac finds the courage to make his future outside–and his love is soon rewarded.

This is, without question, an HEA. And the Amish life was so detailed and well-described, I could feel the constriction around my heart for Isaac and David. I had never imagined the Amish life would be so interesting, or complicated. Even Isaac’s siblings feels stifled in this new life. His younger brother, Ephraim, begins to strike out against the many rules of their world. Meanwhile, David’s family is under constant scrutiny–and yet he finds his path rightly. The end is quick and satisfying, with a sequel published and a third book in the offing.

UNMAKING MARCHANT Requires Love–A Review, and a FREE BOOK!

Hi there! Today I’m sharing a review for a sexy New Adult romance from best-selling author Ella James. I read the first book in this series, SELLING SCARLETT, which features a strong independent woman selling her “carnal treasure” to help a friend in dire need. It was a steamer I enjoyed, so I thought I’d give the latest Love Inc book a look-see. UNMAKING MARCHANT has a story built on the power of addiction and mental illness.

Unmaking Marchant (Love Inc., #3)About the book:

Marchant Radcliffe, owner of the exclusive Love Inc. brothel, is no stranger to darkness. He lost his parents in a plane crash and since college has harbored a secret almost too terrible to bear. He keeps his head above water by pouring his energy into his business—and he’s thrived, despite the dark blot on his soul.

Then, after ten years of good fortune, Marchant’s skeletons start to peek out of the closet, tossing him down a trail of ruin that begins with arson and could end with murder. Because he’s kept his struggles private, he has no one to pull him back from the brink.

After a breakup with her longtime fiancé, Suri Dalton, daughter of one of Silicon Valley’s tech tycoons, has nowhere to go except her BFF’s new penthouse in Las Vegas. The last thing Suri is looking for is a man, but after drowning her woes in wine on the flight over, she stumbles into a torrid make out session with a beautiful stranger—who just so happens to be Marchant Radcliffe, playboy and literal pimp.

Despite an immediate attraction, Suri writes Marchant off as exactly the sort of guy she should avoid. Until Love Inc. goes up in flames, Marchant winds up at the bottom of a swimming pool, and Suri is the only one around to pull him out.

What happens when what you see isn’t what you get? What do you do when destiny is too alluring to resist and too dangerous to survive?

My Review:

This was an interesting steamy read. Suri is a smart woman engaged to an abusive alcoholic, Adam. He’s the only man she’s ever been with–they are high school sweethearts, but Adam’s continued alcoholism is a major stumbling block to their relationship. One night he’s way-too-handsy and ends up hurting Suri–which sends Suri from her Napa estate to Vegas to meet up with her BFF, Lizzy.

Lizzy is engaged to a billionaire, and has friends in quite low places: particularly a high-class brothel, owned by Marchant. Suri’s woefully prudish, perhaps, but she’s not interested in anything to do with a pimp. Well, at least not until Marchant ends up (inadvertently) saving her from an assailant and they have a brief tryst–Suri’s first-ever anonymous hook-up. She’s rather mortified to discover Mr. Love Inc is the sex-god who drew out her elusive orgasm like a bee finds pollen.

Still, there’s something vulnerable about Marchant, and Suri’s the Patron Saint of Lost Men, or something. She can tell Marchant is messed up, but she thinks he’s on drugs (Spoiler: yep) but that’s only a small part of the story. He suffers bipolar disorder and is on a mania high when they first meet, which later collapses into suicidal depression.

So, Marchant saved her, and she returns the favor. These two have a magnetic attraction–even before Marchant seeks treatment for his illness. He blames himself for ruining a good woman years before and doesn’t want Suri (or any woman) to get her heart broken. Guess what, Marchant? YOU are not the boss of WOMANKIND. We will have a broken heart if we WANT one, dangit!

Expect sex. Lots of it. Expect some brief domestic violence, and some drawn-out mania and many many bad decisions. It takes Marchant a LONG time to reveal his dark secret, but the end comes quickly after that–though this book ends with a cliffhanger.

Interested? You can find UNMAKING MARCHANT on Goodreads, Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

You can grab the first book in this series, SELLING SCARLETT for FREE on Amazon, and Barnes & Noble. Like MARCHANT, this is an ADULT read. Click here for my review.

This story introduces Lizzy, Cross and Suri. Lizzy attempts to sell her virginity in order to raise money to pay for Cross’ medical care after his parents cut him off and he’s injured in a bike crash. (There’s an argument for universal healthcare in this premise, methinks!)

They Were CAUGHT ON CAMERA–Reviews! (And, a FREE book!)

Hi there! Today I’m sharing reviews for Lily Harlem’s scorching new M/M serial, CAUGHT ON CAMERA. This five-part romance is erotic and sensual, following a love affair that develops between two porn stars. THIS is an ADULT read.

About the Books:

When Reece Carter is caught on camera canoodling with hunky gardener Cade Davenport, a new, super-sexy opportunity presents itself that he just can’t walk away from.

Reece Carter is working hard and feeling the heat. It’s a scorching hot day and he’s slaving away indoors. But at least he has a nice view from the window—sexy gardener Cade Davenport—no job too big or too small—who is mowing the lawn minus his shirt.

Soon thirst overcomes Reece and he finds himself swimming, kissing and getting frisky in the hot tub with the super-confident, seize-the-moment Cade, whose wit, humour and cocky smile is irresistible.

What Reece doesn’t know is that the walls have ears and the trees have eyes. His every moan, gasp and erotic move is being recorded in fine and shocking detail.

But what does that mean? And what about the intriguing offer Cade puts to him? Shouldn’t he just punch his lights out for filming him without permission? And will Reece’s life ever be the same again after being caught on camera?

My Review:

This series follows two Brit men, Reece–a painter–and Cade–a gardener, as they embark on new careers as porn stars, together.  Reece never suspected what Cade was setting him up for, when Cade suggested a break from the work they were doing at the same country mansion.

Their illicit tryst in the pool/hot tub was a calculated maneuver, but the end result is…love.

Okay, it takes a bit of the long way ’round, but yes, there’s a lot of love to go with the sex. And, there’s a LOT of sex. See, Cade has a plan when he first sees the painter doing a room refresh at the mansion where he also works. Cade knows Tom, the homeowner, makes gay porn movies, well, because Cade has done a couple smaller shoots for his production company. Cade is attracted to Reece and is able to tempt him into some au natural attention–which happens to be recorded by hidden camera. Cade sends Reece a teaser of “their” movie, and, though Reece is mortified, he’s also turned on.

Tom gets a look at their movie and he likes what he sees. He offers Reece some cash for a simple scene, and Reece is swayed not just by the cash, but also by Cade’s insistence on doing the scene with Reece. Reece doesn’t want to read to much into it, but he’s intrigued by Cade’s interest. He’s also quite excited by his scene partner.

Their first scene goes great, and a contract is offered for a feature because Cade and Reece have fantastic chemistry. Each novella in the series is a separate scene for the film and the growing relationship. Expect menage and scripted BDSM fun. Reece tells the whole story, but Cade is especially candid. He likes Reece, a lot, and wants more than just the scripted sex.

Still, once the cameras stop rolling, can these two find room in their lives for a…boyfriend?

Each episode is incendiary, but sensual, too. I latched on to this series from the start and looked forward to each release, but now the whole thing is available and a must-read for lovers of M/M erotic romance. I’m a total sucker for Brit men, and these guys are positively edible. Sweet and sassy, and insatiable and courageous sexually. The ending is perfect, and horribly wrong–because I absolutely didn’t want this book to end!

For Them It Was TOUCH & GO–Review and Giveaway

Hit there! Today I’m celebrating in the release of TOUCH & Go, a sexy contemporary romance from USA Today Bestselling author, Mira Lyn Kelly. This book is a heart-tugging friends-to-lovers tale that had me tied up in knots!

About the Book:
USA Today bestselling author Mira Lyn Kelly cranks up the heat for two lifelong friends whose most secret longings come true in every delectable way.

Vivacious and successful, Ava Meyers is living her dream life, except for one thing: Ever since childhood, she’s been in love with her best friend…and she’s never admitted it. Back then, Sam Farrow was a damaged young man with a tough past. Now he’s supremely confident, super-sexy, and totally untouchable—until the night when Sam pretends to be Ava’s boyfriend to save her from some unwanted attention. In a moment of weakness, Ava finds out that a long friendship is no match for blistering sexual chemistry.

After years of denying his own feelings, Sam finds that one amazing night with Ava isn’t enough to chase away all the pent-up fantasies. So he proposes they spend a few weeks driving each other wild, exhausting their every desire, and then return to their perfect platonic relationship like nothing ever happened. But Sam’s plan has one fatal flaw: the part where they give each other up. Because the more they let go of their inhibitions, the more they’re tempted to never go back.

My Review:
This friends-to-lovers tale is the second in a series, but can be read as a standalone.

Ava has been in love with Sam since childhood, since she discovered him lonely and thin, hiding near her backyard and she and her brother Ford brought him home. Sam became a regular fixture in Ava’s life, long before she knew of his absent mother and abusive father, and his eventual (pseudo) adoption by her parents.

Sam has been Ava’s protector since childhood, and his best friend, too. He’s never had any serious relationships with women, well, excepting the close comfort of his extreme friendship with Ava. They hang out a lot, and even when he chases a random hook-up, it’s Ava’s cozy couch on which he reclines, watching movies in her apartment directly above his own.

Sam accompanies Ava to a work function as her “boyfriend” in order to keep an unwanted suitor at bay, but everything short-circuits when their charade goes too far. A kiss, then a grope, then a mad dash back to her place for the one thing they’d denied for two decades–physicality.

Ava knows she loves Sam, and she’s too weak to resist the opportunity to have one night with him. Trouble is, one night isn’t enough–for either of them. Sam wants more of the intimacy he’d never felt with his random hook-ups, and Ava struggles with her desire for Sam, and more than the physical release he can give her. Plus, each of them know they need to keep this FWB-thing secret from their close cadre of friends…

Still, they connect again and again, and it’s Ava who finally calls it quits. She’s too overwhelmed loving completely a man who doesn’t quite love her THAT way. She makes the decision to put serious space between them, hoping that distance = separation, but she’s miserable, and Sam’s a mess. Expect unannounced reunions, unwelcome career moves, angry sex, epic declarations, heartbreak, puppies, and an HEA that wet my eyes and spilled a few tears. For real.

The sexytimes are delicious, and Ava and Sam felt so real in their world. I liked their friends and family, and can see this is a series I’d continue reading. The book is self-contained, no cliffhangers just a story I breezed through so quickly I was surprised, and a little deflated, when the end came…I wanted more time with these new imaginary friends! Looks like there will be another book in the series, though I expect it will be the story of another couple. Still, I’m sure Ava and Sam will have cameos. Yay!

Interested? You can find TOUCH & GO on Goodreads, Amazon (US, & UK) B&N, KOBO, and iBOOKS.

TRUTH OR DARE is the first book in this series following the budding romance between Tyler and Ava’s BFF, Maggie.

No doubt it’s a heart/panty melter, like its sequel. While I haven’t read it, I’m sure to add it to my TBR.

She Was IN EXPERT HANDS–A Review

Okay, so how did you like FSOG? *winks* A lady never tells…. ha!
In any event, the 50 Shades “revolution” as only turned up the stage lights on all the fantastic erotica authors out there, among them Lily Harlem. I’ve been reading Lily’s books for probably 18 months now, and I’ve loved all her scorching stories of connection, and reconnection. Last week, she released IN EXPERT HANDS and I was not disappointed!

Disclaimer: This is an adult erotic read, and I received a review copy from the author, because I’m a big fan…

In Expert HandsAbout the Book:
Imogen White has it all—a high-flying career, a prestigious London home and friends she knows will fight her corner. She’s going up, and she’s in control, she’s also got the hots for one very important, very sexy client.

Kane Ward is a self-made billionaire whose determination to be the best of the best has left him alone. He has everything money can buy, yachts, jets, and villas in all four corners of the globe, but even he can’t buy time to suit his needs.

And his needs are very specific, his desires a particular shade of kink and his tastes anything but vanilla. So when he sets his sights on Imogen it’s a given that things are going to get dark, that pleasure will be laced with pain and determining his success will be measured by her blushes and gasps and cries of delight. But Imogen doesn’t need to worry, she’s in expert hands and her every fantasy is about to come true—and then some she’d never imagined in her wildest dreams.

Excerpt:

“Would you like a drink?” he asked over the sound of the music.

“I’m okay, unless you want one.”

“No. I drank water after my workout.” He urged her forward. “So shall we go straight into a playroom?”

“If that’s what you want?”

He glanced at his watch. “There should be something going on to satisfy our voyeur plans for the evening.”

They stepped toward the bar.

Kane indicated another doorway at the opposite end that had a chain mail curtain hanging from its frame. “It’s through there.”

“Ah, K. Long time no see.” A man wearing a similar jacket to Kane’s but with only two stars over the breast pocket extended his hand.

He didn’t wear a mask and Imogen could see that his smile was genuine.

“Nate, how have you been?” Kane took his hand and they shook.

“Great, been in the City for a few weeks on business. Making the most of my free time by coming here.” Nate turned to Imogen and raised his eyebrows. “You have company.”

“Don’t look so surprised.” Kane squeezed Imogen a little closer.

“I am. You don’t usually bring guests. Special occasion?”

Imogen felt Kane tense. She sensed he wasn’t enjoying having his break from the ordinary commented on.

“No occasion,” Kane said. “Good to see you, Nate, perhaps we’ll get a chance to catch up later.”

“Yep. That would be cool.” Nate held up what appeared to be a glass of fizzy water and nodded. He kept his attention on Imogen. “Enjoy your evening here at Sub Space. I’m sure Master K will address your every need.”

“Thank you.” Imogen smiled then felt her cheeks heat as Nate swept his gaze down her body—starting at the collar, then lingering on her breasts and finally on her boots.

Kane stepped forward, tugging her with him. “This way.”

After several paces she touched the collar. “This, around my neck,” she said quietly. “What would happen if I wasn’t wearing it?”

“It would make you fair bait for men like Nate, who are just out to play in a scene, find someone to hook up with.” He glanced at her. “He had no right to look at you like that.”

“Well, the outfit kind of screams look at me.”

“That’s not the point.”

“Oh.” She was confused. “It’s not?”

“No. You’re with me. I’ve claimed you with a collar. What’s more, I outrank him. He should show more respect.”

“You outrank him?”

“Of course.” He pulled back the chain curtain and opened a door. He ushered Imogen into the new room.

Imogen opened her mouth and stared around, thoughts of Nate vanishing.

Kane moved her from the doorway and into the shadows. He stepped behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist

“What are your first impressions?” he asked by her ear, his lips brushing her lobe and his breath heating a trail down her neck.

She leant back into him, loving being so close, held by him. But she couldn’t concentrate fully on his embrace because of what was before her. “It’s…sexy.”

“Mmm, I’m glad you think so,” he said, the soft material of his mask rubbing against her temple. “What else?”

She looked around. The room was sectioned into six large cubicles, each one decorated in dark tones and with a combination of low lights and spotlights. Each three-walled area held a bed or a table or some other piece of equipment in the center. Three spaces were occupied.

There was an audience, too, couples, singles, threesomes sitting on more large sofas. Imogen could only see the backs of their heads. Some appeared enraptured, others holding quiet conversations.

“Tell me,” Kane urged, slipping his hand over the smooth material covering her waist. “What do you think about that, over there, to your left.”

Imogen was already staring in that direction. It had been the main thing that had captured her attention.

A naked woman was bent double, tied to a skinny padded table with her ankles fastened to the legs and her arms stretched out on two platforms, crucifix-like. Her skin was pale except for her behind, which was scarlet.

Beside her stood a man—dressed like Kane in black trousers and a velvet jacket—wielding a flogger. He walked around the woman as if surveying the marks on her ass then cracked down the many strands over her skin.

Imogen jerked and a tingle traveled over her buttocks, as though her nerves were empathetic with what the woman on the table was going through.

The man hit again.

The woman groaned and moved her head, her face coming into Imogen’s view. She had her eyes screwed up tight and her lips were parted. There was a flush of red on her cheeks that matched the rosy blush on her backside.

“Talk to me,” Kane said softly.

“Is she enjoying it?” Imogen asked, although she was pretty sure she knew the answer. The woman appeared to be in ecstasy, as though she’d folded in on herself and only her body and sensation existed.

“Very much so,” Kane said. “Master Zen is very capable of working his sub towards orgasm just through striking her.”

“Are they just…playing a scene or are they…?”

“Lovers, committed to each other? Yes, actually those two are. They’re regulars here and live the lifestyle.”

“The lifestyle?”

“Yes.” He slid his hand to her collar and spanned it with his thumb and fingers. “They live full time as Dom and sub. He commands and she obeys.”

“It sounds…old-fashioned.” Imogen wasn’t sure about the obeying thing. She’d known friends who’d purposely had that removed from their wedding vows.

“It’s a symbiotic relationship,” Kane went on, smoothing his fingers around her collar and brushing her skin.

A small shiver ran down Imogen’s spine.

The woman was struck again—several times in fast succession. Imogen stared at the spectacle.

“You see,” Kane said. “She needs to be adored, cared for, taken through life by the man she loves. He needs to protect her, satisfy her, ensure that everything is perfect for her at all times. That is what makes him feel complete.”

“And that includes this. Beating?”

“Beating, spanking, flogging, whatever you want to call it, yes, it includes this, because that’s what they both enjoy, it’s their thing. It’s their kink.”

My Review:
Imogen is a successful independent woman running an investment bank branch. She has worked hard for to gain her position and her own life–a very different lifestyle than her own meager upbringing. A billionaire client of the bank, Kane Ward is one of her semi-regular appointments; they meet every three or four months to go over his portfolio. While Imogen finds this a tad more “in touch” than most of her uberwealthy clients, she can’t deny she looks forward to meeting with the sexy Mr. Ward.

This appointment is a bit more than the usual however. Mr. Ward, Kane, that is, wants Imogen’s consultation on his accounts, but insists the meeting must happen at an outside location, and Imogen must wear a pretty dress and a hat. Well! Okay, okay, Kane is ranked #18 on Britain’s wealthiest list, and Imogen DOES NOT want to lose his banking business. So, she complies. Only to learn that his private helicopter is flying them to luncheon meeting in his private box at Ascot. On Ladies Day.

Imogen can’t help being a bit swept away by Kane. Still, she’s a professional, and she insists on comporting herself as such. So, she agrees to accompany him on a business trip to assess new business interests that her bank can help–plus, Kane wants Imogen’s personal opinion on how to grow this new enterprise. She’s nervous, but willing.

Nothing prepares Imogen for this whirlwind trip to NYC, however. Private jet. Penthouse suite. Kinky sex club. Wait, what?

That’s right. Kane is setting up sex clubs and wants a woman’s opinion so that they are appealing to both sexes. Turns out delicious Kane is a Master Dom, and he had identified beautiful, professional, meticulous Imogen long, long ago as the woman he’d like to wear his collar.

Over the course of a few intense days, they experience a good bit of vanilla, kinky and downright BDSM-type smexytimes. Their feelings are true and fierce. Kane wants Imogen, badly, and wants to experience his complete dream relationship: a 24/7 power exchange. Though Kane has loved the idea of Imogen for two years, did he really understand her?

Imogen has desired Kane, silently, nearly as long as she’s known him, but could she handle the type of relationship he desires? Would she even want to? She’s sure lots of women would love a billionaire buying everything they desire, and doing whatever kinky play he wished for that kind of security, but Imogen is already more than self-sufficient. She likes working, and aspires to become the first female board member of her bank. Could she abandon her career and dreams to become Kane’s arm jewelry and sex-pet? Would she want to?

I really appreciated the step-wise development of this relationship. I loved Imogen and her strong goals. I liked Kane; he was kind, romantic and compassionate, while being a bit dim in the emotions department. I wanted him to “get it”, to understand that Imogen had greater purpose in her life than to jet-set around as his partner, and I think he finally did. Imogen established all the rules in this relationship, and nothing went forward without her consent, and approval. I liked how these two characters came from independent lives, and were able to forge a path that celebrated the best parts of each other.

A great read for people who enjoy BDSM stories, though the BDSM elements were very light. The focus here was on the power exchange and a healthy way to negotiate a relationship within that framework. I think the resolution of the plot was excellent, and I’d read more on this couple, for sure.

Love Between The BLURRED LINES–Review and Giveaway!

20150129-073345.jpg
Hi there! Today I’m reviewing a new contemporary romance from Jen McLaughlin! BLURRED LINES is a quick read that steams and stuns.

BlurredLinesAbout the book:
Once burned…
Finding my fiancé naked on my couch might’ve been a good thing, if her ex-boyfriend hadn’t been with her. For the past eight years I’ve been a witness to the power of true love, but after getting burned I’d decided there wasn’t any hope for me finding it for myself. Until I met Noelle Brandt in a hotel bar. Maybe it wasn’t the most romantic meeting, but the moment I met her I knew I had to have her. The more I learn about her, the more I know I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her.

Twice shy…
I’d already found the love of my life, but I’d lost that love forever. And I’d been lost ever since. But one night a wounded man makes all of that go away. He makes me laugh, live, and feel alive. When he tells me he has no intention of letting me go, I finally begin to believe in the power of true love again. That is, until I find out who he really is…and by then, it’s far too late to correct the mistakes we’ve already made. By the time we both know the truth, the lines have already been blurred beyond recognition.

My Review:
This is the first book in the Out Of Line series that I have read, but it’s a standalone, in my opinion.

I’m gonna say, there are elements of this story that I usually dislike: drunken meet-cute, instalove, republicans… But somehow, this book took me past all of the cliches. I really enjoyed it!

Riley Stapleton is the only child of a senator–he’s 30’s, attractive, a successful lawyer, and engaged to be married. Then he comes home to find his fiancé, Sarah, giving her ex-BF an oral happy ending on Riley’s custom sofa. And they mailed the wedding invites last week. Riley is, understandingly, furious. I mean, it’s CUSTOM sofa. LOL.

Here’s the thing: Riley and Sarah were compatible. They were set up by Riley’s mother, and worked well together as a couple, with Riley hoping he’d grow to love Sarah. He’d loved once and lost, so he thought he’d take the safe route–and marrying a woman he didn’t love (but cared for and would cherish) was a smart move. Especially as his father was looking at a call for vice-presidential candidate.

Still, he’s bummed out and leaves his home, heads to a local hotel bar and proceeds to get hammered-drunk.

Noelle Brandt is an erotic romance author visiting San Diego for a writer’s conference and can’t take her eyes off the sexy man (Riley) pounding whiskey at the bar. Noelle’s kept herself pretty much to herself–most of her life. She had a traumatic childhood, parents in jail and her adult life isn’t much better. She lost her groom so soon after the wedding she’s still in shock 18 months later. But she’s got a bulldog of a sister-in-law/BFF, Emily, who continues to encourage Noelle to reach out for happiness.

Finding the sloppy-drunk Riley lingering by the elevator, Noelle learns that he can’t book a room–the hotel is full. It triggers all of Noelle’s care taking instincts. Hearing his tale of woe? Well, she invites Riley to sleep on the empty bed in her room, rather than have him crash in his car.

They both swear that nothing’s going to happen, but their inebriated confessions build a rapport, and there’s non-penetrative exchange of bodily fluids…a first for both, this one-night stand. Well, until Riley does the unthinkable. And the next day he’s got a furious Noelle on his hands! Their attraction smolders, and they decide that a fling is imperative and the sex–when they have it–is nuclear. Still, if the FIRST morning after was uncomfortable, the second one is unbelievable. That Riley, he says the darnedest things when he’s getting some oral attention….

There’s a lot of fun here. There’s also a lot of secrets, and misunderstandings, and making up. Oh, and Riley does find love, sorta–at first–but for realz by the HEA. And Noelle learns to let go of her past, and embrace a brighter future.

Readers of this series will no doubt like the call-backs of other characters into Riley’s story, and the sexytimes are yum. I’d eat Riley with a spoon. And Noelle’s a great female lead.

Love Was On The Menu DIRTY DINING–An Appetizer, and Review

Hi there! Today I’m sharing a review for a super sexy M/M contemporary romance from EM Lynley. I’ve loved some of her other books (SPAGHETTI WESTERN and BOUND FOR TROUBLE) so I was anxious to get a sneak peek at DIRTY DINING. (WARNING!! This is ABSOLUTELY an ADULT BOOK. Excerpt below is…racy! You are warned.)

Dirty DiningAbout the book:
Jeremy Linden’s a PhD student researching an HIV vaccine. He’s always short of money, and when biotech startup PharmaTek reduces funding for his fellowship, he’s tempted to take a job at a men’s dining club as a serving boy. The uniforms are skimpy, and he’s expected to remove an item of clothing after each course. He can handle that, but he soon discovers there’s more on the menu here than fine cuisine. How far will he go to pay his tuition, and will money get in the way when he realizes he’s interested in more from one of his gentlemen?

Brice Martin is an attorney for a Silicon Valley venture capital firm. When he’s asked to take a client to the infamous Dinner Club, he finds himself unexpectedly turned on by the atmosphere and especially by his server, Remy. He senses there’s more to the sexy young man than meets the eye. The paradox fascinates him, and he can’t get enough of Remy.

Their relationship quickly extends beyond the club and sex. But the trust and affection they’ve worked to achieve may crumble when Jeremy discovers Brice’s VC firm is the one that pulled the plug on PharmaTek—and Jeremy’s research grant.

How about a taste?

Jeremy kept watching, wondering whether he’d want some stranger to fuck him. Of course he would. He’d gone home–or not home–with guys he’d hooked up with at clubs. You didn’t need dinner and a movie if the attraction was mutual. Mr. Green might be exactly his type. But fooling around for money? That changed everything, didn’t it?

A dinner gong sounded, and the other boys–as they liked to call themselves–put the finishing touches on their costumes and makeup and lined up to parade out in front of tonight’s gentlemen. Each boy had a colored snap-on armband that would match a ribbon on one gentleman’s label. Butterflies flittered in his gut and soon turned to huge bats flapping their wings when the door opened and he heard the mens’ voices, their laughter as the boys walked into the room. Rand had told Jeremy to go last, so he could see how the other boys greeted their gentlemen, and he stood in the doorway observing. Boys’ bodies blocked his view at first, and he was halfway into the room, glimpsing heavy set men with grey temples and jowls before he spotted the bright green ribbon on his client’s label.

Oh dear. Oh fucking fuck. he thought and moved around the perimeter of the room, feeling the breeze under his loincloth as his cock and balls swung free with each step. He felt the sheer fabric flutter around his dick and tried not to be self-conscious as he exposed himself to everyone around the room.

Mr. Green was fucking gorgeous.

My Review:
THIS BOOK WAS DELICIOUS!! Beginning to end, I adored the heck out of the absolutely sexy, filthy, fun kinky book.

Jeremy is a grad student working on his PhD at Cal in San Francisco. He’s
a good-looking 27 y/o gay man, and, struggling with his finances, he’s been recruited to work as a server at The Dinner Club–an establishment for titillating dining. The job is, essentially, to be scantily clad and deliver each of six courses to his assigned diner. As each course is passed, the diners get to remove an article of their server’s costume–until the servers are all nekkid.

Oh, and the diners can pay for the servers to “perform” for them. And, to spend a night with the server of their choice–if the servers should so choose. There’s lots and lots of tip money, and Jeremy’s scared but willing. It’s not as if he hasn’t had anonymous hook ups before. And his first diner, “Mr Green” is so handsome, and nearly as bashful as Jeremy.

Brice Martin is a patent attorney. He’s mid-thirties and newly returned to San Fran after he and his long-term BF split. One of the partners at the venture capital firm where Brice now works has sprung for a fun night out–at The Dinner Club. Brice isn’t really a fan of voyeurism, and even less a fan of paying for a man’s company, but he is in a bit of a bind what with his boss urging him on. He’s mesmerized by the nubile young man, “Remy,” who arrives with the starters–and thankful for his colorful pseudonym–Green with envy, actually.

Jeremy and Brice are far more tame at the table than their boisterous diners/servers, but plenty turned on, as well. Brice’s boss comps a “nightcap” (overnight stay) for Brice to further enjoy Jeremy, but they are equally tentative behind closed doors. Their caution underlies the uncertainty of their feelings–Jeremy doesn’t want to feel like a prostitute, and Brice wants a lover who desires him of his own will–not for cash. Still they relish each other a bit, and Brice realizes his attraction hasn’t waned. He wants more Remy.

On his next visit to The Dinner Club, this time with a wealthy closeted client, Brice chooses a different server, hoping that his attraction was simply a novelty. Watching Remy serve another man, however, is aggravating. And Jeremy’s a bit hurt that he wasn’t requested by the lovely Mr Green.

Thing is, there’s so much else going on–while Brice and Jeremy are learning to connect and bond with each other, Jeremy’s research is progressing–and, yet, suffering. He’s studying a novel approach to HIV vaccination and the results are SO promising, but his finances are drying up–a joint Biotech/academic partnership pays for his research but the biotech firm is losing its venture capital. Meanwhile, Brice’s firm is in a position to fully fund Jeremy’s research, but a miscommunication throws all that into jeopardy.

Brice and Jeremy may have a chance, if they can only learn to trust one another’s intentions. Jeremy doesn’t want to be “kept” and Brice doesn’t want to “share” him with The Dinner Club. Their feelings develop over a period of a few months–as they make an effort to meet outside of The Dinner Club illicitly.

It’s a fun, fun story with a tender plot and delicious smexytimes. For real. Fans of 80s romances will dig the movie references, and be thrilled by the the spectacular HEA.

How He Became A PROPER LOVER–Review and Get Your Free Book

Hi there! Today I’m sharing a review for a newer series I have gone crazy for: The Ganymede Quartet books by Darrah Glass. I reviewed the first book, A MOST PERSONAL PROPERTY, before and it’s a really interesting, fun, sexy read. A PROPER LOVER is the second in a series of alt history/historical books where slavery still exists in the year 1900, and wealthy people purchase same-sex slaves for their adolescent children, so-called “companion” slaves, to allow for disgorgement of sexual tension in a “healthy manner.” The protagonists are teen boys, but this is an ADULT book. There is boatloads of graphic gay sex, which doesn’t trouble me a whit. You are hereby warned.

A Proper Lover (Ganymede Quartet, #2)About the book:
What does it mean to belong to someone?

Henry Blackwell is the happiest he’s ever been, and it’s all because of his companion slave Martin. Every experience, whether it be mundane or spectacular, is improved by having Martin at his side. The better Henry gets to know his slave, the deeper his feelings grow. Though the physical attraction between them is undeniable, Henry’s sure there’s more to their relationship than just sex. He can’t be certain, as it’s never happened before, but he believes he might be falling in love.

Henry’s friends are ready and willing to put their own slaves aside in favor of female companionship, and they’re beginning to wonder why Henry isn’t interested in girls. Henry only wants to be with Martin and doesn’t know how much longer he can use “late bloomer” as an excuse. The holiday season approaches, along with the promise of parties with friends and family. Henry doesn’t want to share Martin with his friends, but he doesn’t like being left out. Will he stand up for himself—and Martin—when it counts?

My Review:
Here’s what I love about these books: the love.

Henry Blackwell is the son, and heir, of the richest man in NYC in 1900. He also has an “unnatural” attraction to his companion slave, Martin. They engage in sex whenever and wherever possible. It’s socially acceptable for Henry to “use” Martin, but not to kiss him, or to ensure that Martin is satisfied. No, proper slave owners simply take their own pleasure and pay no heed to their slaves wishes, or comfort.

But, that isn’t Henry.

He adores Martin, and spoils him whenever possible. Part of Henry’s generosity comes from his own father’s egalitarian example: the Blackwell slaves are some of the most respected on account of their fair treatment. The rest? Henry craves affection. His mother and father are extremely distant parents. The only real love Henry has ever known has come from the slaves of the house and his Uncle Reggie, who moved to Italy nearly a decade ago. And Martin seems more than acceptably affectionate with Henry, too.

Though they have only had sexual relations for a few weeks Henry is sure he loves Martin. This he hides deep inside. It’s hard enough wondering if Martin could return his sentiment, but fearing a luke-warm reception to his fervor keeps Henry from revealing his true feelings–at least verbally. The boys spend a lot of time physically demonstrating their passion.

Before this time Martin believed Henry had no interest in him, and even cast some “slave magic” spells to attract Henry’s regard. Martin confides this to Henry, who endeavors to demonstrate that his love for Martin is not of the magical variety.

The book is so fun. I love the historical setting, and the deepening of the relationship between Henry and Martin. It is for Martin that Henry breaks through his shell, and endeavors to be a better student and brother.

All of Henry’s friends regularly share their slaves, trading them for sexual favors like one might hand off a piece of gum or a sweater to a pal. Henry abhors this idea, though he gets drawn in inadvertently, leaving open the question of fidelity for one’s slave.

I’m so glad it ended how it had! And, I look forward to book three most eagerly. I received an ARC of this book because I’m a super fangirl and begged the author.

Interested? You can find A PROPER LOVER on Goodreads, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.

You can test drive this series for free by reading A SUPERIOR SLAVE, the prequel to A MOST PERSONAL PROPERTY, available on Goodreads Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.

You can find Book 1, A MOST PERSONAL PROPERTY, on Goodreads, Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

And Book 2.5, A MASTER’S FIDELITY, is also free. And, I loved it. Available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

About the Author:
Darrah Glass is a writer and generally inquisitive person who likes her fantasies to be as historically accurate as possible. She loves research, sex scenes, and researching sex scenes. She’s married and happily childless, does yoga, never cleans her house, likes shoes and toenail polish, and is vain about her hair. As far as her priorities are concerned, she’d rather write than do just about anything else, and she drives a 15-year-old car but carries really nice purses.

FV_AmazonGRSWFor Valentine’s Synopsis:
This steamy nightcap novella, the fifth book in the No Weddings Series, takes us on a post-happily-ever-after adventure as Cade attempts to rewrite Valentine’s Day with his new wife, Hannah.

Wedded bliss. After everything Hannah and I have been through, we finally have it. Yet dark dreams from my troubled past continue to escalate as we approach Valentine’s Day. Determined to fill our present with great memories that overtake all others, I plan a trip to New York—down to every scheduled detail. Yeah, there will even be a musical.

But Mother Nature has a few tricks up her sleeve. And the universe keeps throwing us curveballs…
*** PLEASE NOTE *** Scorching (explicit) sex scenes. Fire extinguisher highly recommended.

My Review:
A nice cap to the No Weddings Series.

Hannah and Cade are newly married and building a new business together. It seems they are poised on the brink of happiness, yet Cade has recurrent nightmares that increase in intensity as Valentine’s Day nears. Three years ago he had his heart mutilated by this then-girlfriend who not only didn’t accept his marriage proposal, she confessed to infidelity right at the dining table. He was crushed so bad he never expected to find love again–then Hannah came along.

Their love story hasn’t been all sugar kisses and love dumplings. They had to work to trust each other, become friends, and then lovers. In fact, their wedding was more a surprise than an event.

In an effort to create all new scorching memories with Hannah, banishing his traitorous nightmares, Cade plans a romantic NYC escape–and nothing, not a car wreck, nor lost reservations, nor missing the first act of WICKED will put a damper on his plan.

This is a fun, sexy way to close out Hannah and Cade’s love story. They find a way to turn every irritation into titillation, every wrong turn into Oh, Baby…

Expect copious copulation and kinky kitchen antics. And a resolution that’ll put a sappy smile on your face.

Exclusive Excerpt:

When Hannah removed her hand from my crotch, cooler air seeped through the denim. Then her soft lips touched my earlobe seconds before hard teeth tugged on it. She reached over to the ignition and twisted the key, cutting the engine. “We won’t need the heat for a while.”

She was right. Windows? Already fogging.

The coat that she’d been huddling under only seconds ago, slid off of her as she shifted and knelt onto her seat. She bundled up the woolen material and tossed it into the back.

I’d planned this trip to be amazing, to get my troubling dreams in line with my incredible reality, and when we hit a little black-ice speed bump? Hannah grabbed the wheel…

My pulse kicked up at the desire in her darkened eyes. Needing to touch her, I slid a hand up her thigh.

My one-track mind screeched to a halt. “Uh…” Those knit-tight things still clung to her legs. “How do you propose we have sex with these things on?” I pinched the material away from her skin, then released it. The fabric was so soft, it didn’t even snap against her skin properly. I scowled. “These come off.”

She shook her head with an amused smile. “No. They’re keeping me warm. Besides, who said you’re getting any? We said ‘making out.’”

I choked out a laugh. “For over an hour? You trying to kill me with blue balls?”

That luscious lip of hers disappeared behind her teeth as she negotiated carefully around the gearshift to attempt to straddle my lap. Not in any way resembling merely “making out.” Interesting.

With my long legs, the seat was already adjusted back as far as possible. The steering wheel had nowhere to else go. But none of the cramped quarters made any difference to my determined woman. And she fit perfectly.

As her body settled over mine, all soft curves and temptation underneath the thin fabric of her dress, her lips brushed over my ear. “I promise you won’t die. And there will be no blue balls.”

Translation: sex.

She just wanted to play a little. Or a lot.

And I was the happiest fucking man on Earth to be her toy.

Her lips began a sensual path over my skin, trailing below my ear, dotting small kisses over my jawbone, until she reached my chin. Then she paused and swallowed hard.

Her chest heaved up and down, breasts pressing against me with every inhalation. Her fingers found their way into my hair, cradling the back of my head. Her intense gaze penetrated down deep, piercing my heart. “I love you, Cade Michaelson.”

My lips curved into a smile. Before I had a chance to respond, her eyes drifted closed and she kissed me. Not hard and rough. Not urgent. She took her time, savoring each touch. Her tongue tasted mine, then her lips closed, denying me access. Until she sucked on my lower lip.

Unhurried, lazy and seductive, she backed up her words with her body. Our lips touching was the only skin to skin, but her body undulated over mine. Hips arched, then curved against me in slow rhythm. Her fingers tugged at my hair.

I groaned and closed my eyes, my cock hardening painfully behind my denim button fly. But I didn’t pull the plug on her slow seduction. Nothing in the world would make me take control away from her.
