Becoming a RULE BREAKER–A Review

Hi there! You know I’ve loved me some sexy contemporary romances from the writing team of Kat and Stone Bastion. Those No Weddings books were a fun ride. RULE BREAKER is a new standalone New Adult romance that spins off the No Weddings books, with a secondary character finding a new life and love in Hawaii.

rbreakerAbout the book:
Leilani Kealoha wants to be set free. Of family expectations. Of generations of prejudice.
Chafing at rules made by the proud Hawaiian men in her family, she yearns to discover herself and hungers to explore the world. Her adventuresome heart? Longs for something even greater, deeper.
The last thing she expects is an East Coast haole surfer to hold the key to everything.

Mason Price is done walking his parents’ path. Done with social acceptance—with cold politics.
On a surfing quest to reinvent himself, Mase finds an exotic beauty standing on his towel. But it’s her feisty bargaining that catches him off guard. When he challenges her with a “Truth or Shots” drinking game, she unwittingly reveals more than she’d intended about herself…and him.

The raw truth stuns him: She’s suffered like he has, is lost like he is—keeps secrets like he does. But will young love and shared situations be enough to conquer racial and cultural divides?

Lines in the sand…were meant to be crossed.

***RULE BREAKER is a standalone, full-length new adult romance told in dual POV. Due to mature themes and adult language, this book is for those 18 and older.***

My Review:
This is a standalone spin-off from the authors’ No Weddings series, featuring a secondary character finding love.

Mason Price is on a quest to find himself, and dealing with the grief of losing his brother. He’s got plenty of cash, and he drifts from beach to beach in surfing competitions to fill his time. He’s approached by Leilani, a beautiful Hawaiian girl while hanging in Tahiti, so she can solicit him for a sponsorship of her brother’s board company. Mase only accepts if Leilani will be his personal assistant.

They’re both attracted to the other, but neither wants to upset their budding friendship. Mase wants a home, and he finds one he can build up and enjoy close to Leilani’s family. Leilani’s struck by Mase’s interest in living simply, like her Hawaiian family, and sees more than just the wealthy white boy. Still, even as they grow closer, Leilani knows her family will never accept her dating a haole, or outsider. Mase’s wealthy and politically-connected parents are the same.

Thing is, Mase and Leilani soon learn when you find that person who completes your soul, it really doesn’t matter if their skin color matches yours, or your family hates them because of it. It’s actually not an easy thing, being true to your heart, and both Mase and Leilani are hurt in the process–Mase critically.
Do not cross some lines on the sand, Mase!!

It’s less steamy than previous books in this series, but has lots of different issues, notably shared grief, and fast friendship. I liked Mase better than Leilani, though I often felt he was an odd philosopher. It’s a reasonable romance, slow-burning, but long on emotions.

A bit of my review for BOUND BY WISH AND MISTLETOE
Both men are fearsome fighters, courageous leaders, and tender lovers, but Isobel had given her heart to Iain first. Being with Velloc is heavenly, but shouldn’t she return to Iain if she can? How can a girl chose between sides of her heart?

She does, however, and is able to convince both her husbands that she should split time between them–why? Because she’s unsure if her time displacement will upset history, or cement it. Isobel returns to Iain and spends time with him–then returns with Iain’s help–to Velloc for a temporary visitation, only to find he is embroiled in the Roman conquest of Scotland. Now her knowledge of history is the only thing that can save Velloc and his Pict clan. Also, an angel…

Skorpius is a delicious treat who helps the Brodie, and Isobel, survive.

It’s a super fun read if you like time travel romance or Highland stories. Plenty of magic and mystery surround the artifact that whipsaws Isobel through time and love. As for the romance steam-factor: think warm and fuzzy, not melt your Kindle.

Catch the rest here!!!

And a bit of my review for THREE CHRISTMASES:
Cade and Hannah have been dating several months now. They have jobs, which they work separately, and the event planning business Cade runs with his sisters, and Hannah. It seems that all is going well, even though Cade’s consulting is taking him away from home more and more frequently. While reunion lovin’ is fun, it’s also super hard on a fledgling relationship to have so much distance. And both Cade and Hannah are feeling the lack.

Then, Cade’s offered a staggering amount of money for a management position. Problem? The company headquarters are in San Francisco. Hannah wants him to follow his heart, as she would do, and he takes it. Reduced to weekend visits, their relationship suffers further strain.

Thing is, Cade and Hannah keep saying they value the other more than anything–so doesn’t that include their careers? Kinda. Looks like a new work/life balance is in order!

Seeking Out a HEARTBREAKER–Review and Giveaway!

Heartbreaker RDL Banner
Hi there! I’m so excited to share a review for Kat and Stone Bastion’s new adult romance HEARTBREAKER out today! You know I’ve loved their NO WEDDINGS books (No Weddings, One Funeral, Two Bar Mitzvahs, Three Christmases and For Valentine’s) so I was excited to read their next collaboration. Kiki Michaelson is the artsy gal who got burned by a boy and seeks men who can’t hurt her. Little did she know Darren Cole would turn her palette from monochrome to Kodachrome…

Catch the details on the $25 giveaway below….

Heartbreaker (Unbreakable, #1)About the book:
Kiki Michaelson wants one wild night to forget her starving-artist worries. Simple.
Only instead of Darren Cole becoming her one-night stand, he taunts her with a challenge. Then while she’s trying to best him at his own game, he turns out to be the last thing she’s prepared for: someone she wants to keep.
Which means all he can ever be…is a friend.

Darren Cole never allows a girl to get close—not close enough to matter.
Then storms in Kiki Michaelson, a beautiful, fearless temptation that rocks his world off-balance. But he fights their attraction, unwilling to gamble something physical with their close ties. Until the passionate sculptor exposes her heart and breaks his wide open.

In that moment it becomes clear: she could never be just a friend.
Sometimes what you run from…is exactly what you need.

***HEARTBREAKER is a standalone, full-length new adult romance told in dual POV. Due to mature themes and adult language, this book is for those 18 and older.***

How about a little taste?

I watched his prone body lower, then lift.

Lower.

Lift.

My breath caught and my stride slowed as I drew closer. My mouth gradually fell open. My eyes widened.

Shirtless, baseball hat spun backward, hands sunk into silver metal pails of sand, he performed the most unique pushups I’d ever seen. His skin glistened with a sheen of perspiration under the section’s brighter lights. Taut muscles along his back, shoulders, and arms flexed under the strain of every measured drop and rise.

The world around me seemed to stop—except for him. Art in motion. Beauty in action. Every woman’s fantasy-come-to-life coalesced into one surreal moment where my mind fabricated my body beneath that incredible male form, under all that raw muscle and energy.

On the next downstroke, he paused. Then he glanced up. His gaze locked with mine.

Busted.

Yet powerless to stop myself, I studied the rigid contours of muscle as he held that position. The artist in me flared to life, imagining those lines sketched in charcoal. His tattoo. My gaze lingered on three thick curving tribal-style crescents. The largest began at the base of his neck, where its tip fanned into multiple points. Two smaller crescents overlapped tips with the first, each arcing a different direction, one toward his back, the other curving beneath his arm.

My skin began to heat under the spotlight of his attention, and I burned the image into my memory for when I had a quiet moment, later.

My mouth had gone dry.

I swallowed hard.

Then I found my voice as my brain cells finally began to fire again. “Really? You invite me here and do that” —I gestured toward him with a wild wave of my fingers— “and I’m supposed to think only friendly thoughts?”

His lips twisted into a smirk. “Try.”

I forced my attention back to his face and held his stare. “All I see is sex on a stick.”

Oh, shit. I blurted that out loud.

His knees lowered to the floor, then he pulled his hands from the sand. “Try harder.”

My Review:
While this book shares some of the characters from the No Weddings series, it can be fully enjoyed on its own.

Kiki’s a 27 y/o woman who has been burned more than once, in more than one way. Despite being a successful up-and-coming artist, she’s got money struggles she doesn’t know how to fix–and which are totally outside of her control. Her high school crush busted her heart wide open and that makes her–to this day–gun shy of any man. She prefers anonymous hook-ups, but struggles to put herself out there, too.

She reaches out to Darren, one of the DJs who works for the event planning company Kiki owns with her three siblings, only to be shot down. Darren’s life is complicated by guardianship of his teen-aged sister, who suffers depression. He works hard and goes to school, trying to support them both, and while he’s attracted to Kiki, he is spread very thin between all his responsibilities. Still, he doesn’t want to never see Kiki, so he offers her friendship, and to help her train for a 5K race–which is one of her goals.

Over the several weeks of the book’s span they do develop a friendship, with the a side order of lust. Both Darren and Kiki are guarded regarding their own personal problems, but that changes when Darren has to rescue his sis and Kiki intercedes. I really liked the way depression was handled in the book. Both Darren and his sis suffer in different ways since their mother died, and Kiki is a good mediator between them. Also, the romance development was steady and not rushed. Kiki and Darren get to know each other before they get into bed together. There’s a bit of sexytimes, but it’s just the right amount, I think. The main focus remains on the growth of both Darren and Kiki to allow each to trust the other and find comfort in their sorrow and joy in their successes. Lots of feels, here, that are very companionship-centered. It’s a solid spin-off romance that will please romance fans.

Just In Time FOR VALENTINE’S–Review and Giveaway

Ad_For_Valentine's_PROMO
Hi there! Today is the release day launch for For Valentine’s the nightcap novella to Kat and Stone Bastion’s No Wedding series. I’ve been posting about this couple’s romantic journey since September, and just in time for Valentine’s Day we get a super steamy conclusion to this true love story. And for release day only, you can get a signed digital copy with a bonus scene from Hannah!!! Be sure to check out this fantastic novella and grab your copy today!!

FV_AmazonGRSWFor Valentine’s Synopsis:
This steamy nightcap novella, the fifth book in the No Weddings Series, takes us on a post-happily-ever-after adventure as Cade attempts to rewrite Valentine’s Day with his new wife, Hannah.

Wedded bliss. After everything Hannah and I have been through, we finally have it. Yet dark dreams from my troubled past continue to escalate as we approach Valentine’s Day. Determined to fill our present with great memories that overtake all others, I plan a trip to New York—down to every scheduled detail. Yeah, there will even be a musical.

But Mother Nature has a few tricks up her sleeve. And the universe keeps throwing us curveballs…
*** PLEASE NOTE *** Scorching (explicit) sex scenes. Fire extinguisher highly recommended.

My Review:
A nice cap to the No Weddings Series.

Hannah and Cade are newly married and building a new business together. It seems they are poised on the brink of happiness, yet Cade has recurrent nightmares that increase in intensity as Valentine’s Day nears. Three years ago he had his heart mutilated by this then-girlfriend who not only didn’t accept his marriage proposal, she confessed to infidelity right at the dining table. He was crushed so bad he never expected to find love again–then Hannah came along.

Their love story hasn’t been all sugar kisses and love dumplings. They had to work to trust each other, become friends, and then lovers. In fact, their wedding was more a surprise than an event.

In an effort to create all new scorching memories with Hannah, banishing his traitorous nightmares, Cade plans a romantic NYC escape–and nothing, not a car wreck, nor lost reservations, nor missing the first act of WICKED will put a damper on his plan.

This is a fun, sexy way to close out Hannah and Cade’s love story. They find a way to turn every irritation into titillation, every wrong turn into Oh, Baby…

Expect copious copulation and kinky kitchen antics. And a resolution that’ll put a sappy smile on your face.

Exclusive Excerpt:

When Hannah removed her hand from my crotch, cooler air seeped through the denim. Then her soft lips touched my earlobe seconds before hard teeth tugged on it. She reached over to the ignition and twisted the key, cutting the engine. “We won’t need the heat for a while.”

She was right. Windows? Already fogging.

The coat that she’d been huddling under only seconds ago, slid off of her as she shifted and knelt onto her seat. She bundled up the woolen material and tossed it into the back.

I’d planned this trip to be amazing, to get my troubling dreams in line with my incredible reality, and when we hit a little black-ice speed bump? Hannah grabbed the wheel…

My pulse kicked up at the desire in her darkened eyes. Needing to touch her, I slid a hand up her thigh.

My one-track mind screeched to a halt. “Uh…” Those knit-tight things still clung to her legs. “How do you propose we have sex with these things on?” I pinched the material away from her skin, then released it. The fabric was so soft, it didn’t even snap against her skin properly. I scowled. “These come off.”

She shook her head with an amused smile. “No. They’re keeping me warm. Besides, who said you’re getting any? We said ‘making out.’”

I choked out a laugh. “For over an hour? You trying to kill me with blue balls?”

That luscious lip of hers disappeared behind her teeth as she negotiated carefully around the gearshift to attempt to straddle my lap. Not in any way resembling merely “making out.” Interesting.

With my long legs, the seat was already adjusted back as far as possible. The steering wheel had nowhere to else go. But none of the cramped quarters made any difference to my determined woman. And she fit perfectly.

As her body settled over mine, all soft curves and temptation underneath the thin fabric of her dress, her lips brushed over my ear. “I promise you won’t die. And there will be no blue balls.”

Translation: sex.

She just wanted to play a little. Or a lot.

And I was the happiest fucking man on Earth to be her toy.

Her lips began a sensual path over my skin, trailing below my ear, dotting small kisses over my jawbone, until she reached my chin. Then she paused and swallowed hard.

Her chest heaved up and down, breasts pressing against me with every inhalation. Her fingers found their way into my hair, cradling the back of my head. Her intense gaze penetrated down deep, piercing my heart. “I love you, Cade Michaelson.”

My lips curved into a smile. Before I had a chance to respond, her eyes drifted closed and she kissed me. Not hard and rough. Not urgent. She took her time, savoring each touch. Her tongue tasted mine, then her lips closed, denying me access. Until she sucked on my lower lip.

Unhurried, lazy and seductive, she backed up her words with her body. Our lips touching was the only skin to skin, but her body undulated over mine. Hips arched, then curved against me in slow rhythm. Her fingers tugged at my hair.

I groaned and closed my eyes, my cock hardening painfully behind my denim button fly. But I didn’t pull the plug on her slow seduction. Nothing in the world would make me take control away from her.

Happy Book Birthday THREE CHRISTMASES! Review and Giveaway

Three Christmases RDL
Hi there! I’m so happy to celebrate the release of the 4th book in Kat and Stone Bastion’s No Weddings series. It’s a super steamy New Adult romance series that follows the relationship of Cade Michaelson and Hannah Martin–two business professionals working (and loving) in Philly. (for 18 and older readers)

4-ThreeXMas_CoverAbout Three Christmases:
As the holiday season approaches in this fourth book in the No Weddings Series, Cade Michaelson strives to be better at balancing work and love, and Hannah Martin’s growing ability to trust is put to the test.

Lust and friendship brought us together, but with the increasing demands of my two businesses, Hannah’s thriving bakery, and our successful event-planning company, stability becomes my focus.

Then a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity takes me to the West Coast, and everything goes into a tailspin.

Laughter, love, and excitement fill our lives, but Cade refuses to settle into the wonderful bliss we’ve found—he wants spectacular fireworks and an unshakable foundation. Driven like no one I’ve ever met, Cade insists a dream job across the country will be better for our future together, but I worry about whether we can survive the present apart.

When intimate time diminishes…and lives get more hectic…

Will a little bit of faith be all that it takes? Or will the sacrifice to get there be too great?

My review:
I am loving how this series hits all the notes of a relationship. Not just the initial phases of infatuation or lust, but the “how do we make this work” parts of integrating another person’s hopes, dreams and reality into one’s own.

This book has less steam, but more of it happens in the wild…expect some (nearly) voyeuristic trysts. And, expect a good deal of soul-searching in absentia. With all this solitary time on their hands, Cade and Hannah have a lot of space to figure out their real motivations. And, it ends in an HEA.

Interested? You can find THREE CHRISTMASES on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, iBooks, and Goodreads. I received a review copy of this book via NetGalley.

Stone likes pounding the trails on a mountain bike, vibrating the sound system with rock music, and down time spent on a stand up paddleboard. And he loves Kat wildly, madly, deeply…and then some.

Together, they’re having a blast bringing fun-filled romantic stories to life and hope you’ll join them in the exciting adventure.

Kat’s first published work, Utterly Loved, was a twentieth anniversary gift of love poems to Stone that they decided to share with the world to benefit charity. Net proceeds from Utterly Loved, and a portion of net proceeds from all their books, go toward charities involved in the fight against human trafficking.

Lots of Love Found in NO WEDDINGS and ONE FUNERAL–Reviews

Hi there! Today I’m sharing two New Adult romances from the husband-and-wife writing team of Kat and Stone Bastion. I had really enjoyed Kat’s time traveling/supernatural/Scottish mysticism series, and this contemporary work has scratched a whole other itch. The No Weddings series is a 4-book effort following the romance of a disillusioned business student/entrepreneur Cade Michaelson, and jilted cupcakery owner Hannah Martin.

No Weddings (No Weddings, #1)About NO WEDDINGS (Book One):

I think I have my act together as a successful bar owner, my master’s degree within reach, and a list of no-strings-attached women warming my bed. Turns out, I don’t.

Hannah believes she has safeguarded her wounded heart by shunning men and focusing on her new baking business. The thing is, she hasn’t.

When my three sisters and I form an event-planning business with Hannah as our baker, I have no idea how my life is about to change. As Hannah and I work closely together, the attraction between us becomes irresistible. And complicated. I’ve promised my sisters I wouldn’t mix business with pleasure. But I’ve never been one to follow the rules

My Review:
Cade is a cad. Well, yeah. He is. He’s 24 and had his heart obliterated on Valentine’s Day two years ago, so he only has friends-with-benefits, now. Unfortunately, he’s attracted to his new business associate, Hannah.

Hannah’s an Ice Queen, or so Cade thinks at their first meeting. As he gets to know her, he finds out she’s been deeply hurt, too. More so than even Cade it seems. Can these two wounded hearts find solace in each other?

Okay, this book is told through Cade’s POV, which is pretty refreshing. He’s a decent guy, so long as he’s got control. And Hannah makes him lose it–so he’s a bit ruthless. Okay, not exactly ruthless. More like manipulative. Her business of cake/pastry art is new, and needs help. He’s got connections and knowledge. If she agrees to cook for him, and his buddies, a few nights a week, then Cade will share his business acumen as a start-up coach. It’s kind of a lame set-up, which Cade fully acknowledges, but he wants to know more about Hannah and relishes the time he gets to spend with her at these meals and afterward as he consults with her. He’s sworn to his three sisters (and business partners) that he won’t get physical with Hannah, but it’s hard to stay focused on what he SHOULD do, when he’s getting closer and closer to her. And finding he likes her very, very, much.

So much, he’s willing to ditch his list of female companions….for good.

I liked this one. It’s got a whole lot of sexual tension, without the usual girl-flops-into-bed-the-second-time-they-meet happening. No, Cade is very patient, realizing that both he and Hannah need a lot of work to get to the point where they can emotionally connect. A true friendship is developed, and the weight of that is heavy: how will they proceed if they begin a relationship and it fizzles? Their professional life will suffer, but they NEED the friendship, almost more than anything physical.

In fact, I wasn’t disappointed by the ending, because I really felt so ‘in tune’ with the characters that I was sure everything romantic would be working out in the next book. This isn’t a typical new adult romance, and I think that made it stand out re, for me. I was on constant edge, waiting to see if Cade and Hannah would take THE NEXT STEP, that all the side-steps only ramped up my interest. Plus, for all that he’s a cad, Cade is an interesting narrator. Hannah is a strong woman, with serious goals and a passion for her work. She doesn’t fall for Cade’s BS, and gives him some serious friction–in the relationship department. Cade’s sisters make for a fun cast of supporting characters; looking forward to seeing them in later books.

One Funeral (No Weddings, #2)And, ONE FUNERAL (Book Two):
I’m drawn to Cade as he charms his way into more of my life and offers me something I truly haven’t ever had: a friend. Yet his humor, patience, and drop-dead sexiness take my breath away, and I know my heart is at risk. I want to move forward but am terrified I can’t.

Cade seems to have it together from his own devastating heartache. His subtle actions, however, suggest a different story. And even though he says he wants more, I wonder if he’s able to trust in our developing relationship.

As we navigate through our tangled feelings, we vow to take it slow. Yet no matter how careful we try to be, things between us intensify—and there’s nothing we can do, or want to do, to stop it.

But the biggest question remains: Is chemistry enough to move beyond the past and toward a future together?

My Review:
This second book of the series features Hannah’s POV throughout. Hannah has survived being jilted, but barely. In her life she’s had few close relationships; her mother died years ago, but they weren’t close. Raised by her (now deceased) grandparents, she had the closest connection with her Gran, who died a year ago. Embarking on a relationship with Cade is a REALLY big deal for her, and it’s good that Cade is really understanding.

In fact, with his encouragement, Hannah seeks counseling. Therapy does a world of good as Hannah challenges herself to step out of her comfort zone and make friends, not only with Cade’s sister, but with fellow business owners in her community. And, she challenges Cade to claim her in a public way with his family and friends–though they were non-dating “exclusively” openly embracing Cade helped quell Hannah’s relationship anxiety.

I enjoyed watching Hannah crawl out of her shell. Like NO WEDDINGS, ONE FUNERAL is long on sexual tension. Cade and Hannah spend lots of time together, but the attraction only simmers, it never overboils the pot…well, until the end. There are some humorous moments, and Hannah’s slightly snide narration made for a fast-paced read that kept me turning the pages. The constant push of innuendo, and super-sexy HEA puts this book in the Grown-Up category.

BOUND BY WISH AND MISTLETOE? Of course!–Review and Giveaway

Hi there and welcome to my stop on the Bound by Wish and Mistletoe Blog tour organized by AToMR Book Tours. If you’d like to see the other tour stops click here. Today’s feature is a double review of Kat Bastion’s recent works:  adult paranormal romance novella, BOUND BY WISH AND MISTLETOE, and also the preceeding novel–FORGED IN DREAMS AND MAGICK, released in September.

Let’s get started, shall we?

BBWAM Cover Bound by Wish and Mistletoe:
Desperate to honor a life-long promise, Susanna MacEalan escapes her abusive clan with the fierce determination of never falling under the power of a man. Ever.

Aggravated by shallow-hearted pursuing lasses, Robert Brodie, commander of his clan’s elite guard, has foresworn scheming women. Forever.

When magick transforms Brodie Castle into a Christmas wonderland, the two despondent souls find solace in a most unexpected place . . . each other’s arms.

Amid a whirlwind of escalating events, Susanna’s traumatic past threatens Robert’s ability to protect the one woman meant for him. In a harrowing moment, as her fears and demons coalesce, will hope, faith, and love be enough to save them?

My Review:

Susanna has been promised to a man she doesn’t desire in order to forge an alliance for her abusive, violent father. Unwilling to submit, she escapes. Only to come upon Robert Brodie while on a mission to acquire the perfect Christmas tree for Lady Isobel. Robert is taken by Susanna’s strong will and vulnerability, against his wishes.

When her unwanted suitor arrives, Robert and his men fight to save Susanna, only to trap her once again. The inhabitants of Castle Brodie do not leave their enchanted castle often, and Susanna’s hard-fought freedom must be surrendered if she is to remain with Robert.

Finally finding a place where she can be happy, she accepts Robert’s offer and love, but all is not settled and her father’s power is not to be forgotten.

This novella has heart and soul. I really enjoyed the banter between Robert and Susanna, and I enjoyed reconnecting with Isobel and Iain Brodie. It’s a lighthearted romance, and will appeal to any who enjoy Highlander love tales…

But what about the book that started it all?

Forged in Dreams and Magick:Forged in Dreams and Magick_Cover
Isobel MacInnes wakes up in present-day California, lunches in medieval Scotland, and by ten days’ end, falls in love with a man and his country, only to lose them in a heart-wrenching twist of fate . . .

Found in the arms of her second soul mate . . .

Forced to balance the delicate strands of time between two millennia . . .

Shocked by revelations rewriting the very foundations of history . . . of everything.

Isobel, a rising-star archaeology student, is dropped into two ancient worlds without warning . . . or her permission. Her fiery spirit resists the dependency thrust upon her. Amid frustration at her lack of control, she helplessly falls in love. Twice.

She struggles to adjust to the unimaginable demands of two leaders of men—a laird in the thirteenth-century Highlands and a Pict chieftain in a more ancient Scotland. Isobel transforms from an academic, hell-bent on obtaining archaeological recognition, to a woman striving to care for those she loves, and ultimately . . . into a fearless warrior risking everything to protect them.

My Review:
What woman wouldn’t want two insatiable lovers in two separate epochs?

Isobel may be a modern woman, but she’s not made of stone. When her connection to an ancient artifact tosses her to 13th century Scotland, Isobel does the best thing she can: marries the leader of Clan Brodie, Iain. Super swoony Iain is the whole of her existence…until she encounters that danged artifact again. Tossed back even farther, Isobel must survive with the Picts–and does so by mating the chieftain, Velloc.
