Tough Times Finding ONE DOM TO LOVE–A Review

Hi there! Today I’m sharing a review for a contemporary BDSM novel from the writing team of Shayla Black, Jenna Jacob, and Isabella LaPearl. ONE DOM TO LOVE is the first in a four book menage series, and I’m catching up so I’m ready when the next book drops in September.

One Dom to Love (The Doms of Her Life, #1)About the book:

Raine Kendall has been in love with her boss, Macen Hammerman, for years. Determined to make the man notice that she’s a grown woman with desires and needs, she pours out her heart and offers her body to him—only to be crushingly rejected. But when his friend, very single, very sexy Liam O’Neill watches the other Dom refuse to act on his obvious feelings for Raine, he resolves to step in and do whatever it takes to help Hammer find happiness again, even rousing his friend’s possessive instincts by making the girl a proposition too tempting to refuse. But he never imagines that he’ll end up falling for her himself.

Hammer has buried his lust for Raine for years. After rescuing the budding runaway from an alley behind his exclusive BDSM Dungeon, he has come to covet the pretty submissive. But tragedy has taught him that he can never be what she needs. So he watches over her while struggling to keep his distance. Liam’s crafty plan blindsides Hammer, especially when he sees how determined his friend is to possess Raine for his own. Hammer isn’t ready to give the lovely submissive over to any other Dom, but can he heal from his past and fight for her? Or will he lose Raine if she truly gives herself—heart, body, and soul—to Liam?

My Review:

Raine was an abused child, the last to leave home when she ran away at age 17, six years ago. She was discovered by Macen Hammerman, also known as Master Hammer, lurking in the alley outside his home/Dungeon. He took her in, got her medical attention, paid for her college education and keeps her as a general purpose employee. He’s mad for her, but won’t touch her–or let anyone else do that–because he’s afraid his true desires, to have her enter a Master/slave 24/7 domination contract, break her–just like he experienced with his late wife.

Master Liam is Hammer’s best friend. They have been close since they shared Hammer’s wife in a menage, but that was before Juliet killed herself eight years ago. Now struggling with his own ex-wife’s infidelity, Liam has joined Hammer’s dungeon. He’s attracted to Raine, and confused by Hammer’s hands-off edict. Liam sees that Raine suffers with lack of direction, and lack of affection. And, also, that Raine’s fed up with Hammer ignoring her blatant admiration.

Because Hammer won’t move without a shove, Liam decides to offer to train Raine, and in the interim, her acting out causes Hammer to require her punishment. It’s a heartbreaking moment, but Liam’s the savior Raine’s long-since gave up wanting. Not that anything is simple. Nope. Hammer wants what he now can’t have. And, while Liam wanted to provoke Hammer’s jealous streak, he’s finding himself quite smitten with Raine. Raine’s torn, between the man she’s loved for six years, and the man who seems to want to build a future with her.

While there’s lots of sexy in this one, not all of it is sexy. I wanted to smash Hammer’s nose, at least three times, and felt myself nearly submitting to Liam’s deft charms. Oh, that thick Irish brogue was delicious, too, if only in my mind. The scene is set for a love triangle to best all others, and path that clearly leads to healing via menage for Liam and Hammer. I liked Raine, and Liam lots, and I’m excited to see how their training goes, especially as Hammer’s got plans to thwart it.

Taking Charge in Their PRIVATE CHAMBERS–Release Day Review

Private Chambers SquareHi there! Today I’m sharing a release day review and excerpt for a new BDSM menage romance from Cleo Pietsche. PRIVATE CHAMBERS is the fourth book in her Laywers Behaving Badly seris, and I had no trouble following along, even though I hadn’t read the repvious books in the series.

Privat Chambers CoverAbout the book:
Maisie’s dominant bosses won’t budge: for her protection, she must marry one of them immediately.
On paper, they’re perfect. Ethan Brennbach, Trent Banno, and Raphael Lattimore are rich, gorgeous lawyers. The powerful billionaires give Maisie exactly what she needs, from every angle imaginable. But after overhearing them arguing, she knows the devastating truth.
They don’t want her, not forever.
Unable to tell them the truth, soon she’s acting out. But her bosses have their own carefully laid plans.
They will bring Maisie under control, one way or another…

How about a little taste?

Maisie whirled through the empty conference room, gathering abandoned coffee mugs, crumpled, dirty napkins, and fallen chunks of glazed cinnamon rolls. Last night’s manicure was already chipped—not that pink fingernails did much to offset the ugliness of her janitorial uniform.

She made a second pass to collect the newspapers. As she was dumping them into the recycling bin on her cleaning cart, a word caught her eye.

Ballystock.

She glanced around, but she was still alone in the bright room. Her arm snaked out for the paper.
Fire Destroys Murdered Man’s Mansion—Norman Ballystock’s New Home Goes Up in Flames!

There was a photo, a mess of charred timber marring a meticulous stretch of landscape.

Holding her breath, Maisie skimmed the article, irrationally terrified that her name would appear. It didn’t, of course.

Maisie frowned.

She could think of three people who were capable of arson, or at least arranging it. Ethan Brennbach, Trent Banno, and Raphael Lattimore. Her former bosses. Her dominant lovers.

The men who were insisting she marry one of them—and she wouldn’t even get to choose which one.

They had promised to make the Ballystock problem go away. Was the fire their work? If so, why?

Those men never did anything without a damned good reason.

A cold feeling churned in the pit of Maisie’s stomach. She shoved the newspaper into the cart and wheeled it into the hall.

It was lunchtime, and she needed to get some air.

My Review:

This is the fourth book in an erotic BDSM series, but I was able to enjoy it, although I hadn’t read the previous books.

Maisie is a young woman who had been an administrative assistant in the law firm of L B & B. She was recently, publicly, fired–as a way to put off an investigation into her affairs. And, Maisie has many affairs, not the least of which is her menage BDSM relationship with the three partners in the law firm. Ethan Brennbach, Trent Banno, and Raphael Lattimore are rich and powerful, and delight greatly in punishing Maisie in the most erotic ways. But, more particular to this story, Maisie’s knowledge of pedophilic and horrifying Norman Ballystock has put Maisie in grave danger of arrest. Norman’s dead, and the murder investigation is creeping ever closer.

In order to protect their sub, Ethan, Trent and Raphael devise a plan to have one of them marry Maisie–and she’s not enthused. She’s only known them for a short while and she’s new to D/s; she doesn’t believe that they are really serious about her. She doesn’t want to be a burden, and she’s afraid this will bind her to men who don’t truly want her.

This was an interesting read, with sweet and sexy moments. Also, some really NSFW dialogue and one rigged trial with filthy consequences. I liked the interactions between Maisie and her Doms. Each one seems to have different objectives, when it comes to pleasure/pain, though we mostly see Maisie with Ethan or Trent. It seems that Raphael had some big scenes in the previous story.

Maisie has lots of growth to make in this book, and she does well, earning more praise than punishment, and an unexpectedly willing groom, who cannot wait to collar his sub with his best friends and partners, to boot.

Boy, that wedding night sounds like it’s going to be nuclear. Stay tuned…

Where We Stand: ENDINGS & BEGINNINGS–Excerpt & Kindle Giveaway!

E&B-BannerHi there! Today I’m sharing an exclusive excerpt and giveaway in support of a contemporary BDSM M/M romance from KC Wells and Parker Williams. ENDINGS AND BEGINNINGS is the eighth–and final–book in the Collars and Cuffs series, and should be read in order.

Be sure to drop down and check out the excerpt, interview and get in on the Kindle Fire giveaway!

EndingsandBeginningsFSAbout the book:

In all his relationships, Darren Fielding never found the level of intimacy he witnessed between Thomas Williams and his sub, Peter, the day of Peter’s “rebirth.” Not only that, he never realized such intimacy was possible. For two years, Thomas’s business card has been burning a hole in his wallet. When Darren’s lover moves on, maybe it’s finally time to see where that card takes him.

Collars & Cuffs’s new barman, JJ Taylor, is really conflicted right now. He went to the club with a very specific purpose, already convinced of what he’d find there. Except it’s not what he expected at all. He certainly didn’t anticipate finding himself drawn to the new wannabe Dom. Nor could he have guessed the direction that attraction would lead him.

Old love, new love, vows, pain, rage, moving in, moving on…. The members of Collars & Cuffs face an event that touches some of them deeply, but it will only reinforce what they already know: together they are stronger, and some bonds cannot be broken.

A tender tidbit!

The alarm clock would be going off in ten minutes, but I hadn’t been asleep for the last half-hour. I lay there, tousling Peter’s hair while he slept. The weight he carried on his slender shoulders always seemed to disappear when we had a vigorous night of lovemaking, followed by sleep. I loved waking up a few minutes early so I could count my blessings.

Six minutes until the clock would be going off. I sigh. I wish I could stop time right now, so that we could both simply lay here and be together. It’s a foolish dream, I know, but I’m not willing to give it up. Until the day that Peter walked into my life, I never realized what I had been missing. His presence brought a warmth on the chilliest of nights, and made me want to soak it all in.

Five minutes. I know that Peter worries about me dying before he does. He fears being alone almost as much as I do. But I’ve taken steps to ensure he’s taken care of. Hell, even Jarod has put something aside so Peter won’t have to worry if something happens to me. Or when.

Four minutes. What would I do without Peter? That bastard, Curtis Rogers, almost took him away from me. I could have lost my boy without ever telling him I love him. I take the time to do that every day now. Peter has to know that he’s a good, kind soul, and that he means everything to me. How I ever thought I could live without him is beyond me. Having him now makes me realize how empty my life had been.

Three minutes. He’s stirring. He must know that it’s close to the time we would both be starting our day. He’ll make breakfast while I shower, then he’ll start on his chores. I’ve never seen him happier than when he gets to work in the library. I order more books now than I ever have, just because it pleases him. I might be his Dom, but that doesn’t mean I can’t spoil my boy. Funny how the books I used to order were stodgy old research books, but now I order more mysteries, thrillers, and even some romance books that I know Peter likes.

Two minutes. His eyes are fluttering. Is he dreaming? I hope it’s a pleasant one. He’s had far too many nightmares for someone so young. If I could go back and change things so that Peter never met Curtis, I would do it without hesitation. Even though it would cost me the chance to be with him, I’d do it. Whatever it took to make Peter happy.

One minute. Oh, how I wish I had more time to watch him sleep. His dream must be a pleasant one, because he’s murmuring. Whispering Sir over and over. I see the covers tent, and hope that he’s reliving our passion from last evening, when he cried out for me, clung to me as he achieved his orgasm. God, that’s the most beautiful sight.

The alarm goes off, and Peter reaches over to turn it off. He cuddles against me, and smiles. “Good morning, Sir.”

My heart fills, knowing this incredible man is all mine. I kiss his head. “It is. The best.”

Oh, wow. Such a sweet scene!

About the Authors:
About KC Wells…
Born and raised in the north-west of England, K.C. Wells always loved writing. Words were important. Full stop. However, when childhood gave way to adulthood, the writing ceased, as life got in the way. K.C. discovered erotic fiction in 2009, when the purchase of a ménage storyline led to the startling discovery that reading about men in love was damn hot. In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative. An even bigger discovery waited in the wings—writing about men in love was even hotter….

K.C. now writes full-time and is loving every minute of her new career. The laptop still has no idea of what hit it… it only knows that it wants a rest, please. And it now has to get used to the idea that where K.C goes, it goes.

And as for those men in love that she writes about? The list of stories just waiting to be written is getting longer… and longer….

About Parker Williams (or at least his voices):
Good day! We are the voices that live inside Will’s head. The ones who whisper to him constantly, beckoning him to speak of our adventures, to tell of our love, and perhaps, if we’re in a mood, kill a person or two.

We guide his hand as he tells our tales where love is the most powerful force, but must be worked for, molded, and finally, embraced. There can be no shortcuts or substitutions on the path to a happily ever after.

We hope you will join with us as Will fulfills his obligation to ensure our stories are told and, we hope, enjoyed.

Practicing Kink for the RISK AWARE– A Review

Hi there. Today I’m sharing a review for a new contemporary BDSM M/M romance from Amelia C. Gormley. I really enjoyed her dystopian future books, JUGGERNAUT, STRAIN and BANE, and I jumped at the chance to read RISK AWARE. This one is a different type of kink, and I really enjoyed it.

Risk AwareAbout the book:
Tattoo artist Geoff Gilchrest is convinced his life is some sort of cosmic joke. Why else would a hemophiliac also be a masochist? He’s given himself more than one elbow bleed since puberty just doing what guys do when alone and bored, so forget about whips and chains. How many partners would contemplate playing with someone even a mild flogging could kill?

Gallery owner Robin Brady knows he can deliver what Geoff needs: to be taken to the edge of danger but never beyond. But Robin came to Saugatuck to get away from the leather scene and heal from a betrayal by his former sub, so he’s not sure he should get involved with Geoff. His ambivalence isn’t helped by the fact that Geoff’s unwillingness to communicate about his well-being hits Robin in some very raw places.

Geoff’s hemophilia isn’t the obstacle he thinks it is. Instead, a lack of trust—on both their parts—is what could end them before they have a chance to begin.

My Review:
4.5 stars for this contemporary M/M BDSM story.

Geoff Gilchrist is an adult hemophiliac who is also gay. Hemophelia is a disorder of the blood which prevents clotting when a vessel is broken. Thus, even small cuts or bruises could lead to life-endangering medical problems. Years of his mother’s extreme overprotectiveness, may have saved his life. Growing up in the 80s/90s before the blood supply was considered secure meant sure transmission of disease to people requiring transfusions. It’s true that many hemophiliacs contracted HIV, Hepatitis, and other diseases as a result of receiving infected blood. Geoff’s mother, who had recently died, urged him to stay closeted–because she was sure he’d end up being beaten in a hate crime and bleed to death.

Geoff’s sexual desire is in BDSM, very rough sex, and kink. Not that he can have any of that, safely. Still, he craves it, and is fascinated by the idea of lashings that draw his hated, defective blood. He goes to a gay resort in Michigan with a good friend, and their vacation coincides with a Leather Man meet-up. There, experienced Dom Robin Brady is attracted to Geoff’s gangly features and shameless want. Robin thinks that Geoff is just a newbie, but the reality is a wedge between them. Geoff is nearly so desperate to gain the sexual experience he desires that he doesn’t tell Robin about his condition, at first. Robin can’t consent to being Geoff’s Dom if he doesn’t understand what Geoff would require as a sub–and that includes his medical care, in this case.

See, it’s all about RACK: Risk Aware Consensual Kink. Robin can’t give consent if he doesn’t understand how to safely play with Geoff. Robin does think he can give Geoff many of his desires, even if it’s not the way Geoff originally envisioned them. I found it fascinating, truly, how Robin was able to conceive scenes that were safe for Geoff, and yet challenged him. This book has a lot of sex. It also has a lot of blood, pain, and misunderstandings. At different points, Geoff has to be honest–and not just about his disease. Then again, Robin has some damage from his most recent relationship debacle, and that causes him to pull back when he should reach forward.

It was interesting the different stigmas present. Geoff was shunned for being a hemophiliac as a child. He was assumed to be diseased (of the HIV variety) when he wasn’t, and assumed to be gay if he had (even if he didn’t) HIV. All of this faulty circular logic was prejudiced and ignorant and he struggled to be normal in a world that didn’t accept him. He is loathe to accept help or solicitousness from anyone, as a result of his mother’s extreme parenting. It takes him a while to really trust Robin, but Robin is awesome at pushing those boundaries and getting help when needed. Naturally, a hemophiliac is easily bruised. One who engages in rough BDSM play, like Geoff craves, is going to get hurt at some point. And, the medical/legal community is not especially keyed in to kink-related injury. I could full-well imagine how grimly they would look on the bruises Geoff considered preen-worthy badges.

I’m not a fan of blood play, but this is the first book I’ve read where I truly understood it. Geoff has a very love-hate relationship with his blood. He hates his condition, and wants to be normal. That the care of Geoff was clearly Robin’s first consideration made all this easier to understand. They invested a lot of time to knowledge and training, so that Robin could give Geoff treatments to facilitate blood clotting, and prevent spontaneous bleeds. Robin invested himself so completely it was easy to expect that these guys were in it for the long run.

I’ve read a lot of BDSM in the last few years, but this one is different. I like that if features a character who is chronically ill, to the point of slight disability. I like that it addressed prejudices within, and outside of, the kink community. The sexytimes were really well written, and had kink that was believable for the characters. It’s a book that’s going to stay with me.

About the Author:
Amelia C. Gormley published her first short story in the school newspaper in the 4th grade, and since then has suffered the persistent delusion that enabling other people to hear the voices in her head might be a worthwhile endeavor. She’s even convinced her hapless spouse that it could be a lucrative one as well, especially when coupled with her real-life interest in angst, kink, social justice issues, and pretty men.

When her husband and son aren’t interacting with the back of her head as she stares at the computer, they rely on her to feed them, maintain their domicile, and keep some semblance of order in their lives (all very, very bad ideas—they really should know better by now.) She can also be found playing video games and ranting on Tumblr, seeing as how she’s one of those horrid social justice warriors out to destroy free speech, gaming, geek culture, and everything else that’s fun everywhere.

You can find her self-published Impulse trilogy almost anywhere ebooks are sold, and check out her catalog of Riptide Publishing releases at their website.

Sex & Punishment–HARD TO SERVE-Review and Giveaway!

Hard To Serve - Tour banner
Hi there! I’m sharing a review for the first book in a new erotic series from Laura Kaye. You know I’ve really enjoyed her HARD INK books, and I was excited to hear that she’s spinning into a new BDSM series, involving the Masters who run Club Blasphemy. HARD TO SERVE is the first of many stories to come, and boy is it HAWT.

Catch an excerpt below and be sure to enter to win Amazon gift cards, too!

11_1001_2016_Laura Kaye_300dpiAbout the book:
To protect and serve is all Detective Kyler Vance ever wanted to do, so when Internal Affairs investigates him as part of the new police commissioner’s bid to oust corruption, everything is on the line. Which makes meeting a smart, gorgeous submissive at an exclusive play club the perfect distraction…

The director of the city’s hottest art gallery, Mia Breslin’s career is golden. Now if only she could find a man to dominate her nights and set her body—and her heart—on fire. When a scorching scene with a hard-bodied, brooding Dom at Blasphemy promises just that, Mia is lured to serve Kyler again and again.

As their relationship burns hotter, Kyler runs into Mia at work and learns that he’s been dominating the daughter of the hard-ass boss who has it in for him. Now Kyler must choose between life-long duty and forbidden desire before Mia finds another who’s not so hard to serve.

A tasty teaser…

Kyler had tried to stay away from Mia. When he’d seen her across the club, he’d walked away and stayed away. Despite the fact that her dress made him want to unwrap her, that the updo of her lovely brown hair bared that beautiful throat, that his body was making demands of him that his brain didn’t want to answer.

And then she’d made it worse. First, by walking away from the Dom who was clearly interested in her. Second, by waiting at the bar—for him—Kyler had no doubt that’s what she’d been doing. And third by not only giving up on Kyler, but finding a possible replacement in Master Quinton.

And when Quinton had taken her hand—had touched what Kyler’s body screamed was his—Kyler hadn’t been able to stay away anymore.

And now, here they were. Kyler in a dark mood. And Mia seemingly all the more turned on for it. It was almost like she knew what he needed her to be, or do, to ease him. And that felt like a really fucking dangerous thing.

That danger didn’t have him walking out of the room though, did it?

No, instead, he was tying her to the cot-style bed in the basement-themed room. She was kneeling with her legs spread wide, which allowed Kyler to secure her hands and ankles behind her using rope tied to the iron. She could only lean so far forward before the rope would catch her. He tied another rope around her waist, with loops around each of her upper thighs, and attached that one to the almost equally high footboard—this rope would not only keep her from leaning back, but it would keep her from being able to sag down onto her calves. The two sets of ropes largely immobilized her so that she had to take whatever he did. After he arranged everything else he needed, he turned to her.

“What are your safewords?” he asked. She gave him the right answers. “And if you’re gagged?”

Mia shook her head three times while humming, “Mmm, mmm, mmm.”

“Very good, Mia. Are there any words or names you don’t like to be called while role-playing?”

“No, Sir,” she said, her voice so aroused that he could’ve thrown her down and skipped all the build up.

But she deserved better than that. He nailed her with a long look, giving her—and himself—one last chance. But they were doing this. “Scene.” Grabbing the medical scissors and a strap, he approached her, his persona shifting to fit the dark role he had in mind. “Well, what do we have here?”

My Review:
This book was 4.5 Stars, for me, and the great start to a very sexy new series.

Kyler Vance is a Master Dom at Club Blasphemy, an exclusive BDSM club in Baltimore that he owns with 11 other friends/Doms. He’s also a full-time police detective that’s recovering from a gunshot wound, and is under investigation as a person of interest in a corruption scandal throughout the police department. He’s innocent, but part of his story has been carefully written by the CIA, as part of a larger case in the Hard Ink novel series. (It’s not critical to have read those for this book to make sense…)

Mia Breslin is an art gallery curator, and artist in her own right, newly working in Baltimore. She’s excited to be near her beloved father, the police commissioner. She’s also jazzed to check out Club Blasphemy, now that her temp membership has been awarded. On her first night she meets Master Kyler–and they hit it off. Mia most desires a man who will want her to serve, and be a dedicated Master, but Kyler makes it clear that he’s not looking for a permanent partner–life in the police force isn’t conducive to a marriage. That’s what he learned when his grandparents, and parents divorced, anyway; both his father and grandfather were cops.

Over the time Mia has, Kyler wants her more and more. He captures her time there–and lets her leave when her temp membership is up…much to the frustration of Mia and Kyler’s Master friends/partners. Boy does Kyler get an earful.

It looks like things might turn up, but then Kyler learns Mia’s father is his boss, and that’s another crisis. I think the only thing that Kyler can do to fix this is absolutely drastic. And, wow, does he manage to wow his dedicated, dejected, frustrated sub. Mia’s such a sweet gal, and I’m glad that Kyler FINALLY treated her the way she deserved. In their scenes, he’s a great Dom, it’s just what happens outside of that realm that is hugely disappointing, again and again, until he gets it right. I also liked the realistic portrayal of dangerous kinks; Mia loves breath play, which can be VERY DANGEROUS, and some of the Doms she meets are unwilling to even consider it. Due to his training, Kyler is better able to handle this desire, and it helps Kyler and Mia bond in the short time they know each other.

The book is short and sexy and sweet and sexy. Did I mention it was sexy? It’s pretty straight-up erotica, and I found it a satisfying read. I’m looking forward to more in this series, that’s for sure.

Mia found herself alone with a kinda pissed-off looking Master Kyler. He wore angry well. As in, the harshness of the set of his jaw and the tight press of his lips and the narrow cut of his eyes—they were all hot, especially coming from a Dom. But she didn’t understand it.

“Um. Hello, Sir,” she finally said when he didn’t say anything.

“Mia,” he said, his gaze raking over her. “You look absolutely stunning tonight.” His voice was like gravel, rough and strained.

“Thank you. Are you okay, Sir?” she asked.

He shook his head. “I don’t…I don’t know.”

“Do you want to sit and talk?” Mia asked, concern for him flooding her.

Suddenly, Kyler pinned her to the cool wall. He braced his hands on either side of her head, and he was erect against her belly. She wanted to drop into a crouch and take him into her mouth. “Do you want vulgar honesty or watered-down politeness?” he asked.

The promise of those words made her core clench with need. “Vulgar honesty.”

He nailed her with a blue-eyed stare. “I don’t want to sit and talk. I want to fuck. Hard. I want to be aggressive. Maybe I even want to be a little mean.”

Mia’s heart was suddenly a runaway train in her chest. Because, sign her up! She let out a shaky breath. “That sounds…like someone’s going to have a good night,” she managed.

Kyler dropped his head to her shoulder on a groan. He knocked his forehead against the bone there once, twice.

“Did I say the wrong thing?” she asked. Because he was totally confusing her.

“That’s the thing, Mia. I don’t know.” He lifted his gaze to hers again.

“How can I help?” she asked.

For a moment, he closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, and when he opened them, it was like he’d centered himself and made some kind of resolution. “Are you game for what I just described?” He fingered the chunky silver-and-gold choker she wore around her neck.

Heat swept over her, her body already answering, already preparing. “Yes, Sir. I am.”

He gave a tight nod and backed up a step. “Let me show you the room I have in mind.” Taking her hand, he led her down the long hallway that shot off the side of the nave. She wasn’t sure if this was still part of the church building or something else, but she didn’t have long to wonder before Kyler stopped at a door and keyed in a code.

Lights came on as the door opened, and Kyler guided her inside with his hand at the small of her back.

Just the room’s theme turned Mia on. Concrete floor. Cinder-block walls with peeling paint. Light thrown from bare light bulbs surrounded by little cages. An iron cot bed with only a white fitted sheet. Rusted metal cabinet at the side that undoubtedly held a variety of toys and supplies. It looked like a basement or a warehouse—a place where a woman in a beautiful cocktail dress had no business being. A role started taking shape in her mind.

“Do you see where my head is tonight, Mia?” Master Kyler asked, his body almost rigid with tension.

God, she was going to enjoy helping him work out whatever had him so wound up. “Yes, Sir.”

Delving Deep Into BDSM 24/7–A Review

Hi there! Today I’m sharing a review for a new BDSM drama/romance in the Subs Clubs series by J.A. Rock. 24/7 is the fourth book in this series and relates the healing and heartache of Gould, a man plagued by regret over the loss of his friend, and ex-lover, Hal–still, three years later. I really loved MANTIES WITH A TWIST, so I was eager to read this one.

24/7 (The Subs Club, #4)About the book:
We started the Subs Club to make the kink community safer for subs. Except now the others are so busy chasing their happy endings, it’s like they’ve forgotten what Bill did to Hal and the fact that he got away with it. They used to think I was betraying Hal’s memory by hooking up with the owners of the club where he died. Now they don’t seem to care about any of it anymore.

Maybe I am sometimes angry with GK and Kel for giving Bill a second chance, but they’ve been mentoring me for a year now, and whatever else they’ve done, they make me feel incredibly safe. So I want to try something: I want to offer them my complete submission, 24/7. To serve the people who forgave Bill. That’s the way I want to hurt.

Except I’m starting to care about them in a way I never meant to—and I think they feel the same way. But after Hal, I don’t know if I want to be in love again. Because what I really need, more than anything, is to see Bill brought to justice. Even if I have to do it myself. Even if it means losing GK and Kel.

—Gould

My Review:
This is the fourth book in a series, but I think it can still be enjoyed on its own. It is an adult book that features a M/F/M-ish type of relationship…it’s honestly hard to classify for reasons below.

4.5 stars.

Gould is a 28 year old Jewish man who knows he’s a submissive. He’s been in the BDSM scene for years now, and is one of the founding members of the Subs Club, a collection of four childhood friends who all practice BDSM, and are all male and all subs. It formed three years ago when Gould’s ex, Hal, also a sub, died by strangulation in a scene at a club owned by Kel and Greg–who are married. Kel is Greg’s Dom, and she’s a task master. Gould never forgave himself for breaking up with Hal, who was–admittedly–too into drugs and floundering. Hal and Gould had been tight; Hal was Gould’s first ever Dom, and Gould felt responsible for Hal dying–to a degree. He’s really still torqued off that the Dom who left Hal restrained in seclusion, Bill, got off on the second-degree murder charges while Gould pretty much struggles with his grief–almost daily.

At the beginning of the book Gould has been “playing with” Kel and Greg for several months. They are a heterosexual couple, but Kel enjoys having male playmates for Greg, and while Gred is her submissive, he is dominant to Gould. They have lots of kinky sexytimes, but the Gould really favors humiliation and loves being chastised. While roiling in his shamed subspace he’s able to commune with Hal’s spirit, and Hal’s inner voice is always putting him down, so that adds more shame for Gould to immerse himself in. He’s all about the shame.

I liked the way their relationship worked, in that Kel and Greg both embraced Gould, for the most part. Greg isn’t gay, and he isn’t bisexual, but he finds something very attractive in Gould, and is willing to share more and more of Kel with him. Gould’s always kept his feelings buried, but he knows he needs more from Kel, as a Dom, and he finally works up the nerve to ask if they can explore a M/s (Master/slave) dynamic. Kel trained as a Master, but never stuck with it due to the negative backlash she faced as a female. Gould’s request is a big temptation for her, and she and Greg decide to try this with Gould–for a week. Greg likes being submissive, but he doesn’t feel compelled to a 24/7 power exchange, like Gould craves. There are upsides, but Gould’s secrets regarding his depression over Hal and still-simmering rage at Bill complicate matters. Also, he knows that Kel and Greg have forgiven Bill–and have worked to rehabilitate him since Hal’s death–and that’s a big betrayal for Gould’s trust.

I’m not going to delve much deeper into the plot, but I liked the dynamic here. I felt Gould’s pain, his obsessive depression, and how sinking into sub-space really helped him to forget it for a time. Kel and Greg are fantastic partners to each other, and to Gould. Gould needs a lot of TLC, even if he won’t admit it, and Kel’s not a big fan of punishment. Plus, her brand of punishment is less about pain and more about humiliation, which works for Gould. Greg is staunchly het, but he’s also clearly attracted to Gould, which is nice. I’ve read a good big of BDSM, and this book is really less erotic and more intellectual. It’s all about the mind games, and tripping Gould out of his generally negative headspace. If you are looking for a gushing romance, this is not your book. (The only gushing that happens is rather gross, and completely humiliating to Gould, which satisfies his needs.) There is a quiet romance, of sorts, here; mainly it’s Gould asking for the love and attention he needs and both Kel and Greg stepping up to the plate. That was completely satisfying, even if it didn’t come with all heavy breathing and juicy moments. There is a lot of emotion to be had, which is why I even classify it as a “romance” of sorts…

As the series follows each of the four Subs Club members finding their forever Dom, I suppose this one marks the end. There is a significant sense of closure for the subs, as they all have mainly healed from the loss of Hal, and found happiness with their permanent partners, even Gould who gets the love, support and therapy he truly needs. This book was definitely darker than MANTIES WITH A TWIST, but it made sense that Hal’s bereaved ex, Gould, would have more trouble moving on. I loved the interaction with all the boys: Gould, Dave, Miles and Kamen. They are so loving and sweet to each other, in a purely platonic way.

Oh! To Be SPANKED IN THE WOODSHED! Excerpt and Giveaway!

BannerTemplate(20)
Hi there! Just getting the word out on what looks to be a yummy new contemporary M/M BDSM romance released today by Brina Brady. SPANKED IN THE WOODSHED is the last book in a series, which should be read in order.

Spanked in the Woodshed E-Book CoverAbout the book:
Young Shane gets himself in trouble again with his Dom. Afraid of Julien thinking he is insane when he believes someone is following him at the university, he makes matters worse for himself. He wants to please him, make him happy, and be the best sub for Julien.

His Dom gives him everything he needs. He helps him learn to deal with his problems the right way and not with drugs. He pays for his college and lets him work at one of his clubs to be independent and earn some of his own money.

Something or someone always seems to get in the way of their progress. This time besides the lies and rule breaking, it’s a couple of different people trying to ruin their relationship.

Julien tries to be patient with Shane. He loves him and wants to be the safe place Shane can always come home to, but misunderstandings, lies, and shortcomings threaten the one thing they need more than anything else:  each other.

This story is steamy hot, but it isn’t just a story of BDSM. It is a story of love with a super HEA to end the series.

A little taste…

When Shane O’Rourke’s cell phone buzzed on the end table, he straightened up against the headboard in bed to read the message. There was no question as to who was messaging him at noon. Sure enough, Julien’s leather-clad picture wallpapered his screen. Shane’s stomach constricted and his clammy hands trembled. He inhaled a deep breath to center himself. Fuck no. Julien had told him that they couldn’t meet for lunch because of some business meeting with his partner, Adam. Shane didn’t have a clue what prompted him to check up on him.

Shane hadn’t attended school the entire week. He didn’t mention it to Julien, because he was supposed to attend all of his classes according to their agreement for tuition.

Julien: “Where are you?”

Shane: “UCLA.”

Julien: “Did you take a bus?”

Shane: “My motorcycle.” Why would he ask me if I took a bus? He knows I ride my bike. It doesn’t make any sense.

Three minutes later the bedroom door busted open. Julien stood in the doorway, arms folded and glared at him. Shane knew that particular look, and it never meant anything good on the horizon. He shouldn’t have lied to Julien. He always found out, one way or another. When would he learn from his past mistakes? His father had been right; he was nothing but a liar going straight to hell.

Tut, tut, Shane! You’d better learn this lesson. Now!

Fun and Flirty, Fresh and Dirty: SUBMISSIVE SEDUCTIONS-A Review

Hi there! Today I’m sharing a review for a new erotic BDSM romance from Christine d’Abo. SUBMISSIVE SEDUCTIONS is a fun book that follows a novice sub as she explores the world of kink with Gareth, a widower who’s not quite sure what he’s in for, I think…

Submissive SeductionsAbout the book:
Sometimes getting what you want…makes you crave something more

Purchasing a Dom from a charity auction was the wildest thing Liz had ever done. The chance to bring her secret fantasy to life, to be a submissive—even just for one night—was worth any price. And Gareth was everything she wanted in a Master. He touched, he taught, he tantalized. He opened her world to pleasures she’d never imagined. But was it enough?

After one night turned into a blurred-line relationship, Liz’s feelings for Gareth went beyond desire. Yet the kink, no matter how hot, had her wondering if she could ever have a normal relationship. Her Dom was a man with a tragic past and he’d put rules in place from the start.  If Liz chose to break them would she lose the intense passion she’d just discovered—as well as the man she loves?

My Review:
Liz is a young, professional woman who believes she *might* be into kink. Her bestie/apartment mate is a confirmed sub engaged to a Dom. Connie has invited Liz to her regular BDSM club for a charity Dom/sub auction. Connie’s hand-picked a Dom for Liz to bid for, and Liz is stunned to learn that the beautiful man she admired backstage, Gareth, is the same man Connie was hoping she’d win.

Liz does win Gareth, a slightly older man who happens to be a widower, and is having his first foray into the scene since his wife/sub died tragically four years ago. Liz and Gareth bond, and share a scene, but is this the end?

The book is written in three parts, the auction, the chase and the submission. It’s all told from Liz’s POV, which is fine. She’s brash and funny and her internal thoughts made me laugh out loud. She wants to explore a real and true relationship, but must proceed slowly because Gareth is reluctant. He’s still grieving. I really liked how Liz turned the tables on Gareth, how she was assertive in her desires. It’s always refreshing when a sub is a bit bratty, and Liz is definitely that!

I think this book is strong because the relationship develops over the course of several months. It’s thoughtful and considerate. Neither Gareth nor Liz are 100% confident 100% of the time, and that’s refreshing. They acknowledge their shortcomings and their fears, which allows the reader to step inside this dynamic easily. I love how uncertain Liz is, regarding BDSM. I love that she questions her desires, wonders if they are real, wonders if they are appropriate. It felt very genuine. Her reliance on both Connie and Gareth as guides in these new experiences felt natural, as well.

Having read a number of books in this genre, I have to say I liked this one. It’s fun and flirty, and fair-minded.

Interested? You can find SUBMISSIVE SEDUCTIONS on Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes & Noble and AllRomance. I received a review copy of this book via NetGalley.
