Join the SINNERS AT THE ALTAR! A Review

Hi there! I’m not shy about admitting my Olivia Cunning Fangirl status. I must have written 10 posts about her books this past year. If you like sexy romance, and sexy rock stars, and off-the-charts sexy-sex, well, you would have already read all Olivia’s Sinners books–or maybe even her Sole Regret books.

If not, today’s post might just turn you into a fan, like me.

For those who have followed the Sinners series, there have been 5 books, one for each member of the band. Each full-length novel explored the tumultuous process of these delicious rock stars finding–and wooing–the woman of his dreams. Sinners’ lead guitarist Brian “Master” Sinclair got the first (Backstage Pass), vocalist Sed Lionheart got the second (Rock Hard), masochistic bassist Jace Seymour found love in the third (Hot Ticket) deliciously pervy drummer Eric Sticks had the fourth (Wicked Beat) and bisexual rhythm guitarist Trey Mills found two lovers in the final novel (Double Time).

Sinners at the Altar (Sinners on Tour, #6)And now the Sinners are back!

Sinners at the Altar is exactly what it claims to be:  a encore of epilogues, four of them, that focus on the weddings of Brian, Sed, Eric and Jace. It’s a fun look into the couples–each receiving a short novella surrounding their nuptials.

First up? Mr. And Mrs. “Master” Sinclair. As we all remember, Brian and Myrna are absolutely insatiable. And Myrna has a bag of tricks (literally!) all ready to use on our sexy guitarist. Of course, just when things get REALLY hot…well, Trey is hospitalized. In this up-close look we get to feel all Brian’s love, and all Myrna’s angst. Getting remarried isn’t her desire. And she’s still scared that Brian will leave her…for Trey. It’s an interesting dance, trying to ask if your husband wants to have relations with his lifelong bestie–without ACTUALLY asking…

Next, we get Mr. And Mrs. Eric Sticks. OMG, I really thing Eric is my fave Sinner. He’s so delightfully awkward and shameless! He and Rebekah can’t even wait a day after her big doctor’s appointment to get hitched. NOPE! As soon as Reb gets her good news they head for the courthouse. With a few sexy sidetracks. Hey, it wouldn’t be Eric and Reb without costumes, right? And, Eric plans the most romantic, perfect, wedding day Rebekah could have wished, all on his own. God. I hope they fill that gorgeous house with 20 foster kids, they have that much love…. *swoon*

Third in line, but first in disaster we have Mr. And Mrs. Sedric Lionheart. Yep. With a bun in the Jessica, Sed is finally able to tie down his fiery lover. The big To-do is what neither of them wanted, and the beachfront fiasco is nothing but spectacular–even if Johnny Depp didn’t make it. In true Sed fashion there’s some outdoor sex to be had, and a delicious ending that showcases just how head-over-heels these two are for one another. Literally.

And bringing up the rear, is Mr. and Mrs. Jace Seymour. Oy vay! Didn’t expect a paranormal vibe to crash into my Sinners read, but hey, it was a fun departure! Aggie isn’t keen on being a wife. The Domme is just not feeling the whole submissive stereotype, thank you very much. At least until she learns exactly what Jace thinks of the term. If my heart didn’t already belong to Eric, I’d snap Jace up. Well, at least until my whip hand got tired. I dug the Halloween theme and the ghostly visitations. Glad Jace could lead those lost souls to peace, just as Aggie soothed his heartache.

So, what’s next? Well, there’s a hint about a Sinners honeymoon book. But we got some unfinished business with Trey and his lovers–Ethan and Reagan. Will there be some sort of commitment ceremony? And Dare Mills, Trey’s older bro and Reagan’s band mate seems to be a regular feature in this series–maybe he’ll get his own book down the road. So many possibilities! And I’m eagerly awaiting the FOUR Sole Regret novels Ms. Cunning promised….

Vice, Virtue, & Video (Book, #2)

New Adult Erotic Romance (very mature content for 17 +)

Releasing April 14, 2014

Published by Omnific Publishing

Lifelong best friends James Laird and Lola Caraway are reunited when Lola moves to LA after college. Lola is starting her new life, new job, and a new romance with a successful lawyer–a relationship which forces James to question the nature of his feelings for Lola.

Meanwhile James’ agent has him making BDSM films, though to him it’s all an act. Unfortunately, these films have brought him the attention of hardcore producer Eva Satana, who wants James to be a ruthless Dominant -for real- in her brutal and extreme scenes. James soon finds himself caught in a contract he cannot break and compelled by threats to the girl who’s stood by him through everything.

James can’t stand the thought of anyone else with his sweet, virginal best friend. But they are just friends…aren’t they? Can their friendship survive so much desire and deception?

Their decisions will decide who will be free and who will be CAPTURED.

SNEAK PEEK EXCERPT

“Promise me you won’t fuck him,” he boldly demands.

“James! Okay, first of all, you can’t just throw down rules like that. I’m a grownass woman, and you can’t dictate who I choose to get familiar with. Second, do you actually think I would fuck somebody after only one date?”

“No. You’re a good girl, Lola, and I know you wouldn’t do some shit like that, but I just worry. Eric’s so much older than you, and based on what you’ve told me about him, he seems like kind of a smooth talker. I don’t want him smooth talking you right out of your panties.”

“I want you to look at me when I do this because I’m doing it as hard as I can.” I point to my face before dramatically rolling my eyes.

“Fine, don’t listen to me,” he says, smirking. “Go out there and give it up to that Viking motherfucker ’cause he fed you some line of bullshit to get into your pants. Let’s see how you feel after that, huh? Let’s see what happens when you’re all bummed out about it and I have to build you back up again and show you that you’re worth a lot more than that.”

There’s an underlying tenderness to what he said that makes me smile.

“You are, you know?” His voice sounds softer, more sincere and even a bit shy. “You’re worth way more than a dude like him.”

“You don’t even know him,” I murmur in response.

“But I know you,” he says, looking right into my eyes. “I know what you deserve, how special you are. How beautiful.”

My throat moves as I swallow heavily. Pure, unadulterated honesty. Whenever he says things like this to me, he sounds so genuine and forthright that it catches me off guard. I’m used to Total Smartass James, but HeartfeltandSincere James can stop me in my tracks.

“Give me your other foot,” he says, breaking the moment as he puts my left foot up on his knee. A big smile slowly spreads across my face as I watch him return to the task with such care. “Lola,” he says, grinning, “don’t tell anybody about this—that I’m sitting here painting your fuckin’ toenails like we’re at a slumber party or something.”

I laugh loudly and nod my head. “Afraid this would damage your rep?”

“Beyond belief!” he replies, giving my foot a squeeze. “I can’t be the dude who ties girls up and spanks them and the dude who sits around pampering you like you’re a fuckin’ princess. How the fuck could I maintain any level of coolness if people found out that I spent my whole night cooking dinner and painting your toenails for your date with some other guy?”

That makes me laugh harder, and he gives me that mischievous smile.

“Your secret’s safe with me, dude,” I reply, barely containing a snicker. “I won’t tell anybody how you’re my big sweetie pie.”

“Shut up,” he says, his face taking on the tiniest hint of embarrassment.

“Nobody will find out that you’re my big, honey bunny, teddy bear,” I tease in a baby voice. “Zip it!” he commands with a laugh.

“I’m not gonna tell everybody how you’re my cuddly, snuggly schmoopy.”

“I will put this bottle down, tear your clothes off and fuck you on the goddamn floor, and we’ll see who’s cuddly and snuggly!” he warns, trying to sound menacing.

“All talk.” I shake my head. “Bark and no bite.”

He takes a deep breath, puts the lid on the bottle, and gives me that predatory grin that says he’s primed to attack.

“You wouldn’t dare!” I giggle, tensing in anticipation.

With that, he lunges onto me and pins my arms above my head. He’s pushing down on me with his full body weight, and I have no chance of escaping his grasp. I feign a struggle, but I’m laughing too hard.

“You’re lucky that I am your schmoopy or I’d have to teach that smart mouth of yours a lesson,” he says in a slightly more seductive tone.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” I smirk as he lets my hands go. I reach around him and swat his butt, which makes him laugh. “Now finish my toenails, cupcake.”

I have already read a review copy of CAPTURED, and I ADORED it! Sometimes I’m let down by a sequel–as if it’s simply the conduit to get to BOOK THREE…not this time. The story just ROCKS. I loved it. Can’t wait to share my review next week!

Into the Darkness coverINTO THE DARKNESS (Darkness #1)
I’d always been different. I saw objects in the night where others saw emptiness. Large, human shaped shadows, fierce yet beautiful, melting into the darkness. I collected secrets like other women collected bells; afraid to fully trust lest my oddities be exposed.

Until I saw him. He’d been gliding down the street, unshakable confidence in every step. It wasn’t just that he was breathtakingly handsome with perfect features. Something about him drew me. Sucked my focus to him and then tugged at my body. As his eyes met mine, I was entrapped.

No one had noticed him. He’d been right there, just beyond the light, but only I had perceived.

I had to know if he was real. Or maybe I really was crazy. And even when my secret box was blasted wide open, dangers hurled at me like throwing knives, I couldn’t stop until I unraveled his true identity.

I just had to know.

New Adult (18 +) due to sexual content and not for the faint of heart.

You can get INTO THE DARKNESS free on Amazon or Barnes and Noble so go on and clickity-click. What are you waiting for?

Oh, you’d like a little taste?

He stepped closer, not hearing me, or not caring that I spoke. His eyes looked at me like I was a life-sized riddle. They delved, searching. He took another step, forcing me to retreat two steps to keep distance between our bodies. Another step back had my back to the wall.

A small smile curved his lips. “I exude pleasure, you run. I exude fear, you come calling. You want me, I can smell it. I can feel it, almost like a palpable thing. Give in to it. Yield to me.”

Oh God I wanted to. His body was mere inches from mine, his intense eyes looking down into my soul from a face out of a Renaissance painting. The power of him, the sheer strength, had strange, primal fantasies running amok through my head. My core tingled, my chest surged, and my nipples were so hard they could cut this stone wall.

Why had I come here, again?

My Review:

Sasha has always seen figures in the shadows. One night she and her boyfriend, Jared, have a car wreck and are accosted by two of these shadow men. All of the shadow people are sexy to the nth degree. I’m not exactly sure what they ARE exactly, but their mind controlling pheromones generally have the humans tearing their clothes off. Exhibit A: Jared…a little startling for Sasha to observe two men sex up her boyfriend in the alley.

Sasha, however, is immune.

Sasha wakes up the next morning–fully-clothed–in bed with a naked, sexually-ravenous Jared. She knows something is very wrong, but her memories of the previous night are spotty and she doesn’t remember their actual encounter until the next day. At this point Sasha is on a mission to find the shadow people and figure out why she sees them.

The leader of these shadow people, Stephan, is a temptation Sasha can barely resist. Of course, the shadow people are embroiled in a war with Mage, and Sasha seems to have some magical ability to repel the forces attacking Stephan’s people.

Now, she’s an asset–and under the protection of Stephen’s minions, like Charles, one of the Jared-Bangers. Charles is a playful, amorous, dim-witted body-guard whom Sasha seems to have no trouble eluding. He provides some real humor into the dark mystery of the Shadow people.

Of course there’s a few harrowing twists that leave Sasha nearly dead–if only someone super strong and sexy had the cure? *narrows eyes on Stephen*

It’s an interesting, sensual start to a series and super quick read. Not for the prudish. Contains copious copulation, consensual, or not.

Braving the Elements coverBRAVING THE ELEMENTS (Darkness #2)
Sasha has always known she was different, but now she also knows that the shadow men she’s seen all her life, are real. With a life goal of fitting in, Sasha hopes her strange abilities will finally make true friendship a possibility. Unfortunately, her magic doesn’t function like everyone else’s. What she thought would make her belong, sets her apart now more than ever.

Stefan, all but promised to a different woman, has tried to keep his mind on his duties instead of the irresistible and free-spirited human. But when she is threatened, he can’t keep his distance anymore. He realizes he’ll stop at nothing to keep her safe, and more importantly, make her his.

Just when one thing clicks into place, another spirals out of control. Stefan’s clan isn’t the only group that would benefit from an extremely rare type of magic. And their enemies will stop at nothing to get what they want.

Braving the Elements is the second novella in K.F.Breene’s long awaited Darkness series. Sasha’s story is one of discovery, awareness, and understanding, and is jam packed with action, humor, sexual tension, and an overwhelming desire for final acceptance.

You can find this newly released sequel on Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000032_00011]ON A RAZOR’S EDGE (Darkness #3) Releasing April 22, 2014

Life for Sasha isn’t getting easier. She has survived run-in’s with monstrous Dulcha, lived through an abduction, and even made it passed Charles’ constant badgering for sex. But if she thought the hurdles of this new life would simmer down, she was dead wrong.

When the Regional comes to visit Stefan’s clan, the pressure increases. Sasha finds herself on a giant scale, assessed for her magic and held in the balance. If she doesn’t have the magic Stefan hopes, she could find herself on the street while still in grave danger. Even with a favorable outcome, however, her inability to use her magic presents a road block not easily crossed.

No, life is not getting easier.

Stefan feels the heat, too. He must finally declare a mate, and admitting to desiring a human is the worst form of taboo. He could jeopardize not only his place as leader, but his and Sasha’s life. His decision is like walking on a razor’s edge.

About the Author

A wine country native, she moved to San Francisco for college just shy of a decade ago to pursue a lifelong interest in film. As she settled into the vibrant city, it quickly became apparent that, while she thought making films was great fun, she lacked cinematic genius. For that reason, her career path quickly changed direction. Her next goal was a strange childhood interest, conjured at the dining room table while filling out a form. For some reason, her young self wanted to be an accountant. Thinking on it now, she wonders how she had any friends. Regardless, it was the direction she finally took.

While she could wrangle numbers with the best of ’em, and even though she wore the crown as the most outspoken, belligerent accountant in the world, her mind got as stuffy as her daily routine. It was here that she dusted off her creative hat and began writing. Now she makes movies in her head, and then writes them down. Way easier than dealing with actors–she should know, she’s been one!

Cover Reveal! CAPTURED: Vice, Virtue & Video Part 2–Updated with giveaway!!!

Coming April 2014

V3_Captured_Cover_alt2Book 2 in the Vice, Virtue and Video series

by Bianca Giovanni

and OmniFic Publishing

Lifelong best friends James Laird and Lola Caraway are reunited when Lola moves to LA after college. Lola is starting her new life, new job, and a new romance with a successful lawyer–a relationship which forces James to question the nature of his feelings for Lola.

James has always been a master at pleasuring women, so it was an easy transition to play a Master on-screen in a series of BDSM videos which have brought him fame and the promise of a lucrative career.

The films have also brought him the attention of hardcore producer Eva Satana, who wants James to be a ruthless Dominant -for real- in her brutal and extreme BDSM scenes. James soon finds himself caught in a contract he cannot break and compelled by threats to the woman who’s stood by him through everything.

There’s no way out…unless James bends to Eva’s twisted demand: seduce his virginal best friend and capture it on tape for her depraved audience. Can their friendship survive desire, deception, and one pissed off dominatrix?

Their decisions will decide who will be free and who will be…CAPTURED

The first book, REVEALED, was a total steamer. You can catch my review for it here. What I so loved about the book was the compassionate way James and Lola treated each other. Their friendship morphed into an attraction, but neither pressed the other to go beyond their comfort zone. Lola was sassy and James was sexy, but together they were great buddies. I wanted each of them to find their happiness, and it didn’t necessarily have to be with each other.

Revealed (Vice, Virtue, & Video, #1)Synopsis:

James Laird and Lola Caraway have been next door neighbors and best friends since elementary school. James was always the ultimate player, and after graduation moves to LA and finds his place as a rising star in the porn industry. Lola, three years younger, is a studious overachiever and on track for graduation and success in college. Lola knows about and accepts James and his debauchery; it’s never been a secret between the two friends. However, a hometown visit prompts James to face his evolving feelings for her, especially after his conservative family discovers his true profession and she comes to his rescue. Not wanting to seduce the innocent Lola, he returns to California, where he sets his sights on becoming a superstar in the industry. While Lola is visiting James from college, they dance around their attraction to each other. After Lola admits she’s never had an orgasm, James offers to be her hands-on teacher. A lifetime of friendship with a manwhore tells Lola that she should not get attached to James as a lover, as tempting as his offer may be. Can she please her body while still protecting her heart? From the author of some of the highest rated erotic romance on Smashwords comes this first look into a world of love, friendship…and porn.

Cephalopod Coffeehouse–December 2013–Knight and Play–A Review

Hi there and welcome to my stop on the Armchair Squid‘s friendly collection of book reviews. What we do is simply pick our fave read of the month, and present it to the community at large. You’re invited to link up with us, if you like. Info is below.

I’ve read a lot of books this month, but I’ve held Kitty French’s KNIGHT & PLAY special because…reasons.

No, seriously, I’m an Anglophile. I love books about other cultures, and this erotic romance hit all the right notes for me.

Knight & Play (Knight, #1)Sophie Black is looking for more. More in life than her lecherous boss, and more in love than her (presumably) cheating–and definitely inattentive–husband. She takes a chance applying as the personal assistant to Lucien Knight, chairman of Knight Inc–a corporation that owns shops selling ‘marital aids’ and operates a number of sex clubs throughout Great Britain. In the interview Lucien is more than direct–how can a woman who can barely talk about sex hope to work in this environment? He’s harsh with her, and she demonstrates an inner strength he finds surprising–and he’s intrigued again by her defensiveness when it comes to her marriage.

See, Lucien has a bad history with marriage. His own idyllic life turned tragic when his mother eye-witnessed his father’s infidelity. Suspecting Sophie’s marriage is likewise bound, Lucien hires Sophie with the intent to prove to her how very sexy and worthwhile she is.

Okay–so, to begin–the sex is fantastically hot. Everything sexy-dirty you would blush-cringe over? Lucien makes it delicious. There’s no Dom/sub dynamic, just a hedonistic exploration of a woman long-neglected. It’s an awakening both emotionally and sexually for Sophie who learns shortly after succumbing to Lucien’s irresistible advances that her husband’s “business trip” is a sham, a lover’s getaway with his girlfriend.

We get a lot of Sophie’s angst over her own actions, without it feeling preachy–and a few slices of her husband’s remorse over the subterfuge he’s been running. But mostly, we get a realistic look at the heartbreak of a woman experiencing a crumbling marriage as she’s simultaneously swept away by a man who is by turns tender and demanding. Lucien doesn’t let Sophie wallow, and forces her to embrace the fact that she is appealing and exciting, even if her husband is a cheater. It’s a very refreshing take on the rebound romance–particularly as Sophie didn’t know she needed a “rebound” until she was in the midst of it. And Lucien isn’t terribly interested in keeping Sophie–he just wants her battle-ready, able to tell off her loser husband and walk away unscathed–or so he thinks…

It turns out that KNIGHT & PLAY is the first of a trilogy. It has an ending that is at once closure, and at the same time a cliffhanger. (Not the kind that makes one wish to hurl her iPad across the room, in my experience. Yet, I moved to purchase the second book toot-sweet!) It is rare that I enjoy the middle book of a trilogy most, but in this case, I do. That notwithstanding, I adored all three books and highly recommend it for readers of women’s fiction, contemporary romance, or erotica.

NOCTURNES–Dark and Delicious–A Review

Most people would agree that alcoholism and prostitution aren’t sexy.
Yet somehow Kendall Grey turns these two vices into romance.
Nocturnes (Hard Rock Harlots, #3)

NOCTURNES is the third installment of her Hard Rock Harlots series. I adored both STRINGS and BEATS, and couldn’t wait to find out what happened to Rax–self proclaimed Guitar God and Dom Deluxe.

Back in BEATS Rax was captivated by a stripper, Lola, and in despair of losing her he drank so much he ended up with alcohol poisoning. Rax’s battle with the bottle has only increased since then. Especially now that his wingman/lover, Toombs, is exclusive with Jinx, the drummer of their band Killer Buzz Float.

As the band records what may be their breakthrough album, Rax pulls away from the happy couples–he’s sure he’ll never find a true love. Drunk and stumbling through the strip club Nocturnes, Rax spots his Lola–aka Eve Belikov.

Eve has danced since she was a child. Her parents, Russian immigrants, were killed by a drunk driver when she was twelve and left her floundering in the foster care system. As a stripper Eve is sexy and untouchable, but as an angel in Heaven, Nocturnes’ super exclusive BDSM sub-club, Eve gets touched any way her customers desire. In truth, as a reader I was appalled and disgusted–and had to remind myself that fiction is not even as strange as real-life. Somewhere in this world humans are degraded/exploited far worse than Eve was. Still, it was unsettling. And I think that’s the genius of Kendall Grey. She didn’t try to make it fun or sexy. She made it real. It was a risk. A big risk, and creatively I think it paid off–at least for me.

Eve isn’t interested in Rax. He’s a drunk mess, and she’s committed by contract to have no sexual contacts outside of Heaven. Still, in Rax she sees her own loneliness, and feels an emotional connection she has lacked since her parents died. Rax, he’ll take Lola/Eve in any capacity. Being near her stirs more than his libido–his music is richer and more soulful, kinda like the Night Music of a nocturne. His alcoholism troubles more than Eve; his bandmates stage an unsuccessful intervention.

Unable to keep seeing each other, Rax hopes for one last connection, and in the process saves Eve from a brutal attack. Rax blames himself, his drunkenness, for not preventing Eve’s disfigurement, and Eve sends him away in her shame, and also for her own peace of mind. Though, their reunion? EPIC seems too small a word.

Ms. Grey turns this Leaving Las Vegas-tale into an HEA. Much love, girl. It’s a miraculous feat.

By turns, NOCTURNES is nasty, dirty, gritty, infuriating, sad, soulful, redeeming and sexy. It takes the filthiest sow’s ear of a storyline and fashions a silk purse romance fit for FLOTUS. I highly recommend it, even if you have to read the Heaven scene with only one half-closed squinty eye, like me. NOCTURNES was nothing like I thought it would be, and everything it needed to be. Rax isn’t a sap. Eve’s hardened and jaded. The two of them have to rub all their rough edges against each other to smooth each other out. And peeling back those layers exposes the soft vulnerability that underlies a true love.

Interested? You can find NOCTURNES at Goodreads, Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Make sure to come back and let me know if you liked NOCTURNES. And, as always, keep reading my friends!

Captivated by THE BUSINESSMAN’S TIE–a Review

I picked this one up as a freebie and, well, let’s just say this…I lost a LOT of sleep reading the other three books in the series. For those who read 50SOG and are looking for the next BDSM series, Deena Ward’s The Power To Please series absolutely will.

Please that is…

The Businessman's Tie (The Power to Please, #1)THE BUSINESSMAN’S TIE (The Power to Please Book 1)
by Deena Ward
Nonnie Crawford is nearing thirty and out celebrating her divorce with a group of girlfriends when she locks eyes on the man across the bar. He’s attractive, and intense. His suit is well cut and his collar’s open. The eye contact is broken, but, while freshening up, Nonnie talks herself into approaching him.

Guess this stranger had the same idea, because when she opens the lav door he’s in the hallway. And the things they get up to in that hall are deliciously naughty.

And involve a tie…which she finds tucked into her purse the next morning.

Nonnie is awakened in a way she cannot forget. To her shame she stalks the bar on other nights to find the anonymous man who makes her dreams go nuclear. He doesn’t show but she’s befriended by another young woman who convinces her to investigate a rumored sex club. They go, and there Nonnie meets Michael Weston–a swoony playboy-type who happens to be an avid Dom. Michael makes it clear he’d like to get to know Nonnie. Intimately.

And, of course, The Businessman–aka Gibson Reeves–shows up, too.

In the meantime Nonnie’s voyeuristic cherry is popped, and she has offers from both Michael and Gibson to be their submissive. It’s heady, and hot, and Nonnie’s not sure what her friends will think of this wild side. So she keeps it quiet…

Still, she knows the things that either of these men can do will turn her inside out and sideways–in a very good way. Big decisions ahead for this novice. And they all point toward OH! OH! OH!

I just fell into this series and loved the blend of mature woman/insecure submissive that is Nonnie. She wants so much to find that all-encompassing love any gal dreams of, and the sensory overload she experiences with both Michael and Gibson take her to a place she mistakes for love, in some ways.

After I finished THE BUSINESSMAN’S TIE I went back and bought the four-book set. Right there you know I loved it.

You can find it FREE at GoodreadsAMAZON and Barnes & Noble.

Let me know in the comments if you check this one out–and how you liked it.

And, as always, keep reading my friends! 🙂

STRINGS is Killer

Strings (Hard Rock Harlots, #1)If Kendall Grey wrote political ads her candidates would never get elected.

She’s that brutally honest.

She is also either a complete maniac or an erotica genius.

Her novel STRINGS (Hard Rock Harlots #1) has a disclaimer that elevates an NC-17 rating to art.

You think I’m exaggerating? This is the first sentence:

STRINGS is not suitable for slut shamers, uptight stone throwers, Holier-Than-Thou prudes, humorless virgins, persons with chronic neck or back pain, pearl-clutching bitties, those who disparage crude humor or vulgarity in their many forms, closed-minded people with sticks up their asses, or anyone under the age of 18.”

It goes on for three more sentences. And Holy Goodness, is it accurate.

So…if you don’t want your delicate sensibilities obliterated by a nuclear blast of shameless lewdness, stop right now. STRINGS is NOT YOUR BOOK.

I absolutely loved it.

Letty Dillinger is bass guitarist for the female rock trio Cherry Buzz Float. Sexual inhibition is not a concept with which she is familiar. If it can be done, she done did it. Maybe twice.

‘Course, Cherry Buzz Float isn’t quite a household name, and Letty’s barely making enough as a waitress to keep herself housed. On her 25th birthday she’s half-drunk, lamenting her bad fortune, when she meets a sunglasses-wearing man she dubs ‘Shades’ willing to indulge in her wicked fantasies involving a bottle of tequila, a strap-on, and his backfield.

Yeah. She’s naughty.

This one night stand probably wouldn’t change Letty’s day-to-day except she gets a call the next day from her manager with the Good News/Bad News.

Good News: Cherry Buzz Float has been booked on a tour! Yahoo! Dream-Come-True!

Bad News: The tour headliner is Killer Dixon, a rival band who MAY have stolen a song from Cherry Buzz Float.

It isn’t until the two bands get together that Letty learns the Really Bad News: The new lead singer of Killer Dixon is–wait for it….

….

SHADES!!!   😉

Now all Letty has to do to live her rock dream is to keep the Shades-encounter on the down-low and maintain peace between her bandmates and Killer Dixon whilst all sharing the same tour bus for a month.

In truth, I doubt an angel could manage this supernatural feat.

And Letty ain’t no angel.

Good for us. Because the wild ride is so fraught with tension you can hear the reverb for miles.

Even better? The attraction between Letty and Shades develops it’s own zip code. And the animosity between the bands could power Alaska through the winter twilight.

Spoiler #1:  Cherry Buzz Float implodes.

Spoiler #2: Happily Ever After

If you like when a novel causes your panties to explode and are willing to accept multi-partner sexcapades (x 1) you will find the irreverent STRINGS to be a hoot. Pack some toiletries–or a wet-nap if you’re beach bound–to clean up afterwards.

Fearless readers will undoubtedly learn some new lingo to describe:  sex, naughty bits, bodily fluids, and love.

You can pick this title up for Kindle or Nook. Paperbacks are also available at online retailers.

The sequel, BEATS, slated for release August 29th. Yeah, it’s on my TBR at Goodreads.

TIE ME, My Nights With Sole Regret (5/5)

Tie Me (One Night with Sole Regret, #5)How long does a heart need to heal?

That’s the big question in TIE ME, the fifth installment of the One Night With Sole Regret  novella series by Olivia Cunning.

Guitarist Kelly Jamison has loved, and lost. So much so he’s not sure he can ever love again, even five years after his fiance Sara died. He promised to only love her. To never have sex with another woman. And now every member of Sole Regret has a woman to cherish, except him.

Conflicted by guilt and need, Kelly decides it’s time to say goodbye to her ghost. Maybe.

Visiting Sara’s oceanside house hoping the memory of happier times will give him the strength to let her go, Kelly catches the faint notes of a haunting melody on the sea breeze.

Dawn O’Reilly is a Grammy-winning pianist who’s creatively blocked on her latest project. Isolated by choice, she’s overwhelmed by the stranger she finds lurking outside her rented cottage. Of course, the overwhelming part is how attractive she finds him.

For the first time in years Kelly is attracted to a woman unlike Sara. Dawn’s musical genius turns him on and, without Owen to chaperone, desire overtakes his promises. Even tied up in Kelly’s signature Shibari art, Dawn is too much temptation for him to resist.

For me, this novella was the definition of bittersweet. The entire time I wished, like Dawn, that Kelly would breakthrough his guilt and grasp the love he so deserved. And when their night ended and his guilt surged?

OH!  I wanted to hold him just as tight as Dawn had.

But no woman can hold Kelly Jamison, right?

Perhaps.

This episode was thoroughly satisfying. Kelly’s passion was finally unleashed and his naked heart was gently handled. Kelly and Dawn are definitely a couple I’d like to read more of.

You can pick up TIE ME for Nook or Kindle.

One thing I’ve found in the Sole Regret series that I adore–all the women the band members fall for are mature, professional gals. They have careers and independence, yet indulge in a single night of unchained passion that becomes more than a one night stand.

I wonder how this will impact the repeat visits–as each of these lovely couples is destined for a second night, (and maybe a third) based on Olivia Cunning’s plans.

Looking forward to those sequels!

TOUCH ME, My Nights with Sole Regret (4/5)

Touch Me (One Night with Sole Regret, #4)Beauty may only be skin deep, but since when did rock stars care about more?
Since Owen Mitchell.
TOUCH ME, episode 4 of the One Night With Sole Regret novella series by Olivia Cunning, follows bassist Owen’s sex club fantasy-come-true: finding a woman who might want him for more than his rock persona.
Caitlyn just signed her divorce papers and she’s out to find a sexy boy-toy to prove that she’s still beautiful and to spite her cheating ex. Owen definitely fits the bill.
Shibari-practitioner Kelly, rhythm guitarist for Sole Regret and Owen’s BFF, plays a huge role in this sexy tale–he ties Owen up for a change! YAHOO!
Following a particularly sticky (yet satisfying) interlude, Caitlyn reveals she’s really not the sex club type–and Owen agrees. They and Kelly go out to eat and Caitlyn finds Owen’s unabashed playfulness as overwhelming as it is endearing.
What’s the hottest thing about this episode–Owen’s self-consciousness. Having grown from an ugly duckling into a desirable man, he still bears the psychological scars from rejection.  So, it’s all the more delicious when he finds his kindred spirit in geeky Caitlyn.
They are phenomenal together, each soothing the other’s bruised heart as well as fulfilling each’s baser urges. The sexy scenes are not just smoking hot, they are heartwarming.
In terms of overall storyline, the pre-quel SHARE ME, which takes place 6 months prior to the Sole Regret series, reveals the backstory of the sexual dynamic between Kelly and Owen. There’s Share Me (One Night with Sole Regret, #0.5)plenty of menage action in that story (Lindsay/Owen/Kelly plus Linday/Shade/Vanessa).
TOUCH ME is monogamous (only).
Just when we finally think Owen’s going to get his gal, history comes to bite his tail…and though we know he’s not likely the responsible party–he takes on that role.
Why?
Because Owen is THAT guy. The kind who will sacrifice his own needs to make everyone else happy. And that’s what makes him totally swoonworthy. (Disclosure: Owen is my FAVORITE member of Sole Regret. He’s also my new book boyfriend.)
TOUCH ME is only available as a single at this time, and it’s worth every cent. Get it for Kindle or Nook.
SHARE ME is a discounted mini-novella, and a wild, wild read. If you’re going to get both, read SHARE ME first. Available also on Kindle or Nook.
If you check either of these out, don’t forget to come back and let me know your opinion!
