Cover Reveal for BETTER LOVE by Daisy Prescott! Also, get a FREE book

Hi there! I’m so excited to share a cover reveal for a new contemporary romance from Daisy Prescott. I really enjoyed the first three books in her Wingmen series, READY TO FALL, CONFESSIONS OF A REFORMED TOM CAT, and ANYTHING BUT LOVE, so I’m really looking forward to another idyllic Whidbey Island love story.

BETTER LOVE is a second-chance romance and is the fourth book in the Wingmen series. It releases October 24th.

BL-Prescott-e-cover-RGBAbout the book:
Maybe that old song got it right.
Maybe love can be better the second time around.

When one of my wingmen needs help, I’ll do anything for him, including calling in a favor with the one person I swore I’d never speak to again. Not after I walked away from that life five years ago and ditched the trappings of my success. The keyword being trap.

I left it all behind.
Including her.

Now the ambitious, brilliant, talented, and undeniably beautiful Roslyn Porter is back in my life. I’m not the same person she knew. I’m trying to be a better man.

No man is an island, but Dan Ashland comes close. He’s content with his quiet life on Whidbey, a world away from the rat race on the other side of the ferry. Dan has three great loves in his life: solitude, pizza, and Roslyn Porter.

Better Love is a standalone second chance romance featuring Dan Ashland and the fourth book in the Wingmen series.

Interested? You can pre-order BETTER LOVE on iBooks in advance of its release 10/24/16.

Coming Soon! BOUND TO SUBMIT by Laura Kaye

Hi there! Today I’m sharing a teaser of a brand new BDSM erotic romance from Laura Kaye. BOUND TO SUBMIT is the first novel in her new Blasphemy series, which got a great start with the erotic novella HARD TO SERVE. I’m so looking forward to the next book!

LauraKaye_BoundToSubmit_800pxAbout the book:
From the ruins of an abandoned church comes Baltimore’s hottest and most exclusive BDSM club. Twelve Masters. Infinite fantasies. Welcome to Blasphemy.

He thinks he caused her pain, but she knows he’s the only one who can heal her…
Kenna Sloane lost her career and her arm in the Marines, and now she feels like she’s losing herself. Submission is the only thing that ever freed her from pain and made her feel secure, and Kenna needs to serve again. Bad. The only problem is the Dom she wants once refused her submission and broke her heart, but, scarred on the inside and out, she’s not looking for love this time. She’s not even sure she’s capable.

Griffin Hudson is haunted by the mistakes that cost him the only woman he ever loved. Now she’s back at his BDSM club, Blasphemy, and more beautiful than ever, and she’s asking for his help with the pain he knows he caused. Even though he’s scared to hurt her again, he can’t refuse her, because he’d give anything to earn a second chance. And this time, he’ll hold on forever.

Decadent… Sensual… Forbidden…

12 Masters. 12 Desires. 12 Fantasies Come to Life.
Meet the Masters of Blasphemy…

A yummy taste!

Up on the raised stage was a naked woman bound in dark orange ropes that matched her braided hair so beautifully that it stole Kenna’s breath. She knew that rope work immediately. Intimately. Remembered its feel around her body. Remembered the hands responsible for the rigging moving against her skin.

And then Kenna let her eyes move to the tall, beautifully built, black-haired Dom wearing a pair of black jeans and nothing else. Griffin Hudson. He stood behind the bent-over woman and held a vibrating wand between her spread thighs. A small moan escaped Kenna’s throat unbidden at seeing him again after all this time. Her heart tripped into a sprint. Heat ripped over her body, even as he teased and tormented another woman, another submissive. God, he was just as gorgeous as he’d ever been, muscular and strong, his rugged face now serious but capable of tenderness and playfulness, too. Every part of Kenna remembered that man—his face, his hands, his mouth, his cock.

And probably would until the day she died.

Just as fast, she locked all those feelings and memories down. She needed to remember why she was here—and why she wasn’t.

“A searingly sexy story with some of the hottest scenes I’ve read in a long, long time. Laura Kaye shows her mastery of the BDSM world. I’m eagerly anticipating more in this bold new series!

Wait Release bannerFrom NYT & USA Today bestselling author AL Jackson comes a new adult contemporary romance. WAIT is part of the Bleeding Stars series, but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone.

Wait-CoverAbout the book:
She is his strength and he is her weakness. And this time he won’t let her go.
Edie Evans is gorgeous.
Sexy.
Kind.
She’s also the definition of off-limits.

But that didn’t stop me from sneaking into her room to comfort her at night.
But guys like me? We destroy everything, so it should have been no surprise when I destroyed us, too.
The night I sent her running, I thought I’d never see her again.
Until I saw her standing like a vision in the crowd.

Austin Stone is dangerous.
Alluring.
Tempting.
He broke my heart and I refused to give him the chance to do it again.

It’s been years since I’ve seen him, and now I can’t do anything but stare at the gorgeous, tattooed man playing onstage. I should run. I know I should. But like a fool, I run straight back to him.

Our desire is overpowering.
Our need unrelenting.
She is my hope.
He is my weakness.
We should have known a passion this intense would burn us right into the ground.

How about a little taste?

“Shit,” I hissed, bracing myself against the spray of the icy shards pelting from the shower head.

I sucked in a breath, released it between clenched teeth, and forced myself fully under it.

Head dropped and chest heaving as rivers of ice-cold water slicked down my shoulders and back.

But it did nothing to lessen the need. Gave me no sanity or pacification.

Because all I could think about was the girl on the other side of the door.

My girl.

In my bed.

Wearing just her panties and my shirt.

An angel I wanted to dirty.

I always had.

Love was messy like that.

All of my restraint scattered. I gripped my cock. Squeezed the base. My mouth dropped open at the pressure of my hand against my rigid length.

A fool thinking it might be enough.

Shit.

God, I was a bastard, but there was nothing I could do before I was giving in, leaning forward and bracketing my forearm above my head to hold my weight.

Water pounded down on my head and back while I pounded my fist against my dick.

Trying to keep silent when all I wanted was to moan, teeth digging into my bottom lip as I pictured the girl spread out for me.

My breaths were coming short.

Panted and hard.

I gave into imagining the sounds she would make when I finally got to bury myself in her body.

A soft, soft gasp.

I slowed, trying to convince myself that throaty sound was all in my mind.

Just another part of this fantasy.

Until I heard the small thump against the wall.

Shit.

I mashed my eyes closed, like it might hide me.

Conceal the depravity of my actions after I’d just been comforting her hours before.

Heart thrashing, I turned and moved far enough to peek out the small section where the fabric shower curtain hadn’t been drawn fully closed.

It was just a little sliver that left me exposed.

But it was enough. When I peered out, I was looking right at my girl pressed up against the wall.

She stared right back at me.

And I wanted to be horrified, my mind scrambling to conjure every weak apology I could summon. Ready to fucking grovel to keep her from turning and running once again.

Because that’s exactly what I expected her to do.

But her expression…her expression clutched me in the center of the chest and sent what little brain function I had left stampeding south.

Red, lush lips were parted, her hand pressed to her hollow of her throat, pupils dilated so big that her hooded, cerulean eyes appeared black. Needy breaths were coming at me from that sweet mouth like a goddamned freight train.

Desire swelled in the confines of the too-tight room.

Alive.

She pressed deeper into the wall as if it might support her weakened knees. Head rocked back. Thighs squeezing together.

Motherfuck.

My hand shot to the shower wall to steady myself. “Warning you, Edie, you need to get out of here. Right now.”

FOOL ME ONCE into Sexy Times–Excerpt and Review

FOOL ME ONCE BOOK TOUR
Hi there! Today I’m sharing a review for a new contemporary romance from Katee Robert. FOOL ME ONCE is a fun and feisty romance between an agoraphobic gamer-girl and a rich-boy-turned-cowboy. I liked it!

fool me onceAbout the book:
Aubry Kaiser doesn’t like people—actually, that’s not right. She loathes people. With her crippling anxiety, there’s no way she can demo her favorite video game at a convention with five thousand other people. Maybe if she brings someone to act as a shield…

But the only person available is the sexy cowboy she can’t stand.

Quinn Baldwyn is in a mess of his own. He’s been dodging his wealthy family’s matchmaking attempts—and life advice—for years, but with his sister’s wedding on the horizon, he needs of a shield of his own.

He and Aubry can barely hold down a civil conversation, but in bed…fireworks. And the closer they get to Quinn’s sister’s wedding, the more he realizes that he might actually like Aubry.

Now it’s up to him to convince her she might actually like him, too.

How about a sexy taste?

She pinched the bridge of her nose. “If I say you’re right, am I ever going to live it down?”

He didn’t answer, and she opened her eyes. Their reflection was slightly distorted in the passenger window, but even she could see he had a seriously tense look on his face. She belatedly realized that they were pressed together, her back to his front, and that he was…

Oh my God. She couldn’t resist leaning back into him, just a little. Yep, that’s not a micro penis. A shiver worked its way through her, leaving goose bumps in its wake, and her nipples perked right up, showing through the thin fabric of her T-shirt. There was no way he didn’t feel her reaction, not with his arm creating a band across her ribs, his forearm against the underside of her breasts.

Even as she noticed, he started to release her, his hand sliding over her stomach, but he stopped when he hit her hip, his pinkie finger dipping below the waistband of her shorts, just a little. It wasn’t anywhere near anything vital, but that little intrusion made her moan all the same.

Fuck.” The word was barely audible, but she felt it in the way his body tensed behind her.

She shivered again, torn between telling him to back off and getting the top button of her jeans all undone for him. If she didn’t make a decision—and fast—he was going to back off again. It was written all over the tension she could feel emanating from his body.

Aubry started to reach for his hand, still undecided on whether she wanted to encourage or threaten him, but he moved, bending down to brace one hand on the truck in front of them, the other still on her hip. The move brought his mouth against her ear, and his harsh exhale made her shake.

She arched against him. She couldn’t help it. Her body took over, a primal part of her knowing he could give her all the pleasure she could handle, and was only too happy to extend an invitation by rubbing her ass against his hard length.

His grip on her hip tightened, but he didn’t try to stop her. “You’re playing a dangerous game.”

She knew. They had to stop for so many reasons, the least of which was that they were on the side of a freaking highway and it was only a matter of time before a car drove past.

But she didn’t want to stop.

My Review:
This is the second book in a series, but can be enjoyed on its own.

Aubry Kaiser is a reclusive gamer woman, who’s had a hard life. She made the best of it by playing videogames, notably Deathmatch, and getting a degree in computer programming. As an adult, she struggles to connect with humans, and has one close friend, Jules. Aubry receives an exclusive invitation to play a beta-version of the newest Deathmatch, at the DeathCon conference. If only she didn’t have crippling social anxiety. Or a giant bodyguard who’d make sure she arrived safely and was approached by no one.

Quinn Baldwyn is a rich boy turned cowboy. His oil baron parents have long-eschewed his reluctance to join their blue blood world, and have attempted to make him thoroughly miserable. His little sister, Jenny, is due to be married in two weeks–and he doesn’t want to go because he knows his folks will harass him into conflict. If only he had a date specializing in salty repartee who’d keep the family claws at bay…

Okay, so Jules totally hooks prickly Aubry into taking placid Quinn to DeathCon and Quinn into taking Aubry to the wedding on an extended road trip. She doesn’t push them to make things physical. Nope. That all started on a lonely highway to San Diego with a car breakdown. It’s so steamy, you might need a towel to wipe off your e-reader screen. Aubry and Quinn aren’t soul mates, but they are attracted by their verbal sparring. Usually Aubry’s acid wit sends men on the run, but Quinn turns all her jabs into parleys. It’s rather fun and certainly entertaining.

I liked the slow reveal of their building feelings. As they spend more and more time buried within each other, both Quinn and Aubry recognize they have excellent chemistry–it’s not enough for them to risk Jules discovering their attraction once they return from their extended road trip, however…at first. Determined, Quinn–with some seriously sexy moves–is able to convince Aubry they should give it a try.  And, then his family pretty much spoils everything. For a time.

There’s an HEA here that’s really super cute. I don’t want to reveal much, because it’s so unique and I hate to spoil. Rest assured, Quinn and Aubry are on the exact same page with each other by the end, despite their initial differences. It’s a quick, fun read that really entertained.

About the Author:
New York Times & USA TODAY Bestselling Author Katee Robert learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back.

Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way—as it often does—and she spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that she’d like to write a book and try to get published.

Her first novel was an epic fantasy that, God willing, will never see the light of day. From there, she dabbled in YA and horror, before finally finding speculative romance. Because, really, who wouldn’t want to write entire books about the smoking-hot relationships between two people?

She now spends her time—when not lost in Far Reach worlds—playing imaginary games with her wee ones, writing, ogling men, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

happily ever all star coverAbout the book:
Veteran running back Jude Owens is one of the best and most respected players in the league. A brutal concussion nearly ended his career, but Jude refuses to retire without earning the ultimate honor—a championship.

But first, he needs me to clear him to play. As the Ironfield Rivets’ neurologist, I usually treat bad boy quarterbacks and beastly linebackers. I can’t be impartial when my lifelong crush hops onto the exam table. Not only is Jude gorgeous and a gentleman, he’s my brother’s best friend…and the father of my unborn baby.

Or so everyone thinks.

Jude offers to pose as my boyfriend and the baby’s father to save my reputation. In return, he needs my help to stay on the field. The pretend romance keeps me close enough to take care of him, but I can’t protect my heart. Our stolen kisses and nightly indiscretions have transformed this fake relationship into something so very real.

I can’t complicate our arrangement by falling in love, especially as Jude’s obsession with football blinds him to everything but the game. When his symptoms worsen, the only way I can protect him may be to sit him on the sidelines. But ending his career will ruin our Once Upon A Time.

It’s up to me to save my prince charming…

The Big Chance to Get CLOSE TO YOU–Review and Giveaway!

CTY Tour BannerHi there! Today, I’m sharing a review and giveaway for the latest contemporary romance from Kristen Proby. CLOSE TO YOU is the second book in her Fusion series, and fully enjoyable on its own, though we still have a lot of people from LISTEN TO ME on the page.

CLOSE TO YOU releases August 9th, but you can drop down and catch the excerpt and enter the $25 GC giveaway right now!
CloseToYou_PB_FinalAbout the book:
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Proby comes the second novel in her sizzling Fusion series.

Camilla, “Cami,” LaRue was five years old when she first fell in love with Landon Palazzo. Everyone told her the puppy love would fade—they clearly never met Landon. When he left after graduation without a backward glance, she was heartbroken. But Cami grew up, moved on, and became part-owner of wildly popular restaurant Seduction. She has everything she could want…or so she thinks.

After spending the last 12 years as a Navy fighter pilot, Landon returns to Portland to take over the family construction business. When he catches a glimpse of little Cami LaRue, he realizes she’s not so little any more. He always had a soft spot for his little sister’s best friend, but nothing is soft now when he’s around the gorgeous restauranteur.

Landon isn’t going to pass up the chance to make the girl-next-door his. She’s never been one for romance, but he’s just the one to change her mind. Will seduction be just the name of her restaurant or will Cami let him get close enough to fulfill all her fantasies?

How about a little taste?

“Oh, sweet Jesus, don’t ever stop doing that.”

I grin and watch as I knead her feet. Upon closer inspection, I see that they’re callused, and despite being nicely painted, they’re a bit of a mess.

“I hate my feet,” she murmurs softly. “They’re rough and callused and horrible.”

“I don’t mind,” I reply honestly. “But you should spoil yourself sometimes and go get one of those froofroo pedicures.”

“I do. But I wear shoes that are bad for me, and I hate socks, so this is what I’m stuck with.” Her eyes slit open to watch me as she shrugs. “I don’t care. My shoes rock.”

.“I’ll rub your feet for you anytime you want.”

She grins softly and I want to pull her in my lap and hold on tight. I want to kiss her madly and lay her back on this couch and uncover her body, inch by inch, discovering what makes her moan and what makes her sigh.

I want to do all of the things I’ve fantasized about for longer than I can remember.

Instead, I sigh and pat her ankle, then stand. “I’d better go.”

She stands with me and follows me to the door. “Thank you for dinner. You didn’t have to do that.”

“Yes.” I turn to her and push her blond hair back over her ear. Scoot is winding his way through my legs, purring. “I did. Thank you for today.”

Before she can push me away, I lean in and press my lips to her forehead, breathing her in, and wanting to stay.

“Are you going to get that last house?”

“If you promise to visit.” I pull back and see her bite her lip, then firm her shoulders.

“I’ll visit.”

I nod and leave her before I do something stupid like scoop her up and take her up to her bedroom to spend the rest of the weekend with her.

She’s not ready for that. I’m not sure I’m ready for that, which shocks the fuck out of me because I’ve never had a problem with carrying a willing woman off to a bed to have my way with her.

But this is Cami, and a fun romp on a mattress isn’t the only thing I want with her. Not that I really know what I want with her.

I do know that she deserves more than a weekend in bed, and the thought of someone else giving it to her makes me crazy.

My Review:
Cami is best-friends and business partners with Mia, and totally gone for Mia’s older brother Landon–has been since she was a kid. Only, she’s not a kid anymore. She’s a grown woman, with a degree and a divorce. She’d jumped into a marriage with her college sweetheart while Landon was half the world away, running sorties as a US Navy pilot.

After a decade in the service, Landon’s home now–grounded and released from duty after a high altitude ejection that injured his neck. He’s otherwise intact, though unable to pilot, and has returned to Seattle temporarily to assist his father’s construction business while his dad prepares to retire. Meeting Cami again is like Homecoming, with a twist, she’s all grown up. As much as he can sense that she wants him, it’s nothing to the inferno he’s bottled up waiting for just the right moment.

This book doesn’t leave the reader waiting for the HEA. It all seems to happen really fast…which made me (rightfully) suspect there would be a big complication. Not giving away that part, but I did connect with the characters throughout their rough patch. They don’t separate, but the trajectory they had imagined hits a bump, and it means they need to reconfigure their landing pattern, just a bit.

This is a quick read, with a sweet couple that almost struggles to believe their good fortune. Cami holds a torch for the boy she once knew, and isn’t quite sure this adult Landon is the man for her…at first. Landon does a great job of putting Cami first, and being the stand-up man she’d idolized. Plenty of loving and swooning and dream-closets in the making, here.

Unexpected Love BURNING MOON–Coming Soon!

Burning Moon BannerHi there! Today I’m helping spread the word about a sexy new contemporary romance releaseing tomorrow from Jo Watson. BURNING MOON is already a WattPad sensation, but now it’s available in a newly-revised and expanded version from Forever Publishing.

Watson_BurningMoon_TRAbout the book:
Newly revised and expanded, Jo Watson’s Wattpad sensation Burning Moon is now available in print for the first time!

There’s a very fine line between blushing bride and mascara-streaked sobbing mess. #beenthere
Lily Swanson has been planning her perfect life since she was twelve years old: Meet Mr. Right, have the big white wedding, buy a house in the ‘burbs and raise 2.5 picture-perfect kids. However, when her fiancé bails, leaving Lily alone at the altar to face 500 gossipy guests, her dream turns into a nightmare. But then Lily makes an impulsive decision—she ditches the dress, grabs her passport, and heads off to Thailand to spend her honeymoon alone.

Or so she thinks…

Because Lilly quickly learns that everything in Thailand is very hot-the weather, the merchandise, and especially Damien—the sexy, spontaneous man she meets before her feet even hit the sand. Now with no plan, and nothing holding her back, Lily lets Damien lead her on a wild, unpredictable ride to the world’s most exclusive party, Burning Moon. But after a week of letting go, indulging her every impulse and desire, Lily must go back to the girl she used to be. Or can Damien convince her that their party doesn’t have to end?

How about a taste?

Michael Edwards—fiancé of one year, perfect boyfriend of two—had left me, Lilly Swanson, just ten minutes before I was scheduled to walk down the aisle. The bottle of perfume that he’d wanted me to wear today, insisted I wear, because “it was his favorite,” mocked me from the dressing table. So I picked it up and threw it against the wall, watching it shatter into a million pieces, just like my life. I was hit by the sickly sweet smell of jasmine and felt sick to my stomach.

What was I going to tell the five-hundred guests who were sitting in the church waiting for me? Some had even flown here to South Africa all the way from Australia.

Hi everyone. Thanks for coming. Guess what? SURPRISE! No wedding!

A wedding that my father had spent a small fortune on.

A wedding that was going to be perfect.

Perfect, dammit. Perfect!

I’d made sure of that. I had painstakingly handled every single tiny detail. It had taken months and months of meticulous planning to create this day, and now what?

Things went very blurry all of a sudden. I vaguely remember my brother James bursting into the room, screaming insults and then vowing to kill him. He even punched the best man when he claimed to have no knowledge of Michael’s whereabouts. My rational, logical father tried to find a legitimate motive for Michael’s behavior, insisting we speak to him before jumping to any rash conclusions. Hundreds of phone calls followed: where was he? Who had seen him? Where did he go?

At some stage the guests were told, and the rumor mill went into full swing…

He’d had an affair.

He’d eloped with someone else.

He was a criminal on the run.

He was gay.

He’d been beamed up by aliens and was being experimented on. (Hopefully it was painful.)

People threw around bad words like bastard, asshole and liar. They also threw around words like shame, sorry and pity. They wondered whether they should take their wedding gifts back, or leave them. What was the correct protocol in a situation like this?

While the world around me was going mad, I felt a strange calm descend. Nothing seemed real anymore, and I began to feel like a voyeur looking at my life from a distance. I didn’t care that I was sitting on the floor in my bra and panties. I didn’t care that my mascara and lipstick were so smudged I looked like Batman’s Joker. I just didn’t care.

Some minutes later my other brother Adam, the doctor, burst in and insisted I drink a Coke and swallow the little white pill he was forcing down my throat. It would calm me, he said.

Shortly after that, my overly dramatic, theater-actress mother rushed in to give the performance of her life.

“Why, why, why?” She placed her hand across her heart.

“What is this, a madness most discreet? A stench most foul?” She held her head and cried out, “Whyyy?!”

“For heaven’s sake, Ida, this isn’t some Shakespearean bloody play.” I could hear the anger in my father’s voice. Even after 18 years of divorce, they still couldn’t be civil to each other.

“Lest I remind you that all the world is a stage.” My mother shouted back, the deep timbre in her voice quivering for added dramatic tension as she tilted her head upward and clenched her jaw.

“There you go again with your crap! Clearly you still haven’t learned to separate fantasy from reality!”

“Well, I managed to do that with our marriage!”

My brother jumped between them. “Stop it. This isn’t the time!”

And then all pandemonium broke out.

The priest came around to offer some kind of spiritual guidance but exited quickly, and very red-faced, when he saw my state of undress. Some inquisitive relatives stuck their heads through the door, painted with sad, sorry puppy-dog looks, but they, too, left when they saw me spread-eagled on the floor.

An enormous ruckus ensued when the photographer burst in and started talking photos of me—no one had told him. The ruckus became a total freak show when my favorite cousin Annie, who had designed my dress for free as a wedding gift, saw the state of her “best creation” lying crumpled and torn on the floor. She looked like she was about to cry.

Then everything went very blurry and the noises around me combined into one strange drone.

I closed my eyes and everything went black.

Uncomfortable Truths Might Be ANYTHING BUT LOVE–Review And Get A FREE Book!

AbLblogTourHi there! I’m so excited to share my review for a new contemporary romance from Daisy Prescott. I really enjoyed the first two books in her Wingmen series, READY TO FALL and CONFESSIONS OF A REFORMED TOM CAT, so I couldn’t wait to return to idyllic Whidbey Island in ANYTHING BUT LOVE.

Check out the links below so you can catch get READY TO FALL FREE (for a limited time) to whet your appetite.

AnythingbutLoveAbout the book:
Another wingman bites the dust in this enemies to lovers story…
For the past year, I’ve been working my butt off to start my own coffee company on Whidbey. A weekend in Cabo with sun, tiny bikinis, and vacation hook-ups is exactly the kind of tension relief I need.

What I don’t need is a bruised jaw, having to bribe my way out of jail, a hellion set on ruining my life, and my mother seeing a picture of my assets on “The Twitter.”

Caribou Caldwell is my worst nightmare.

Unfortunately, she’s also the star of my sexiest dreams.

What happens when a small town guy becomes the focus of a million fantasies? As Erik Kelso navigates his sudden notoriety, will his feelings for Cari turn out to be anything but love?

Anything but Love is the third book in the Wingmen series, a spin off of Modern Love Stories. Like all Wingmen books, it can be read as a standalone romantic comedy.

My Review:
This is the third book in the Wingmen series, but can be enjoyed on its own. Expect cameos from the other MCs Tom and Jon, but this story is all about the youngest Kelso brother.

Erik Kelso is a 28 y/o single, tri-athlete running a coffee business on Whidbey Island, Washington. He lives with his slightly elder brother, Carter, in a house the locals have dubbed the “Phallus Palace” because it’s just the two dudes and Carter isn’t shy with the ladies. Erik actually is. He rarely dates and hooks up even rarely. His life is pretty much Whidbey Joe, training, and taxiing his drunk father home from local hangouts.

Carter and Erik sneak off on a low-budget Cabo vacation and the final night out is a whirlwind. Erik and Carter hit a bar, Erik bumps a gal with a D-Bag boyfriend who proceeds to spark a fight. While sweet-talking the policia is not his specialty, he manages to keep both himself and the D-bag from arrest for a mere $50. The girlfriend isn’t thrilled, even if she’s smoking. Erik can’t believe such a fox would hang with such a loser.

The next day, Erik and Carter go cliff-diving, and Erik takes a dive sans suit. He’s got a tight body from all his training, and he’s not especially shy about it. He’s not quite prepared to have his butt plastered all over the Interwebs, with speculation that those Buns of Glory belong to a popular celeb, however. When the hordes learn they don’t, the chase is on to find out WHO IS THAT GUY!!!

Mortified, Erik does some tracking to find out the source of his shame–none other than the smoking girl from the bar. He tries to legal eagle his way out of the mess, but he can’t; no one can find Caribou, that bar gal who pretty much haunts Erik’s sexy dreams. And when Cari shows up on Whidbey to set the record straight, well, the t-shirts will fly.

Oh, this was a rollicking romp of a romance. It’s really fun because Erik is a near-recluse with phobias that play out in his horror-soaked brain. Like, he’s always thinking someone bad–or even, say, zombies–might attack, and how to survive in the advent of an apocalypse. It did crack me up. He’s painfully shy around women, but talks a big game in front of his dude friends–which was a fun juxtaposition. He’s also very sensual, and when he and Cari do connect, it’s hot. Lots of special attention, and extra orgasms.

In the meantime, he’s fending off the cougars who pretty-much make a game of spotting his butt and posting pics on the ‘net. There’s an exuberant ‘zine gossip columnist who makes it his mission to bag this Hot @ss Guy, and the web posts are a scream.

I liked the enemies-to-lovers angle. I liked Erik’s weirdness and awkward approach to everything. For being an introvert, Erik’s a very approachable character, endearing and sweet. I really connected to his internet infamy and the fear that his mother might find him bared to all. It’s so true that once posted, it’s there forever, and it was really interesting to have a male character react to such a predicament. His constant embarrassment is entertaining to everyone, except him, and yet he’s totally good-natured about it. Still, he does manage to turn his 45 minutes of fame into some new business that helps out his folks and others in the community. He and Caribou have their HEA and the book sets up two more books in the series, for singles Carter and Dan.

As a critique, I had a little trouble getting into the story. The book is written in first person-POV and Erik’s name isn’t mentioned until Chapter FOUR. I kept turning pages, waiting to see who was telling me this story, and that was a pretty long wait. It made it hard for me to connect. Also, Erik’s a little agoraphobic, suffers a little anxiety and a little ADHD, I think. His thoughts zip along faster than my 7 year old on Pixy Stix. Just saying that I had a teeny bit of trouble keeping up at times. Especially when he dipped into his “survival modes.”

I really did enjoy, and look forward to further Wingmen shenanigans.

Looking For A SUMMER OF IRREVERENCE–Review and Giveaway!

Summer of Irreverence tour bannerHi there! Today I’m sharing a review for a new contemporary romance from Cathrine Goldstein. SUMMER OF IRREVERENCE marks the beginning of her New York Artists series, and is a tale of two lonely hearts finding solace, when they think they are only having a fling.

Drop down to read an excerpt, my review and enter to win one of several prizes including books, a $20 gift card, and jewelry!

SummerofIrreverenceTheRockStar_w10818_750About the book:
Straight-laced, veterinary surgeon, Summer Wynters is ready to break the rules. And who better to break them with than the most irreverent of all men, mega rock star Malcolm Angel? With one last summer free from work obligations, Summer moves to New York City, and at the coaxing of her friend, pretends to be a model so she can spend one wild night with Malcolm.

Rock star, Malcolm Angel, tortured by a dark past, may be the poet laureate of romance, but he, like science-minded Summer, has never believed in romantic love. How could he? With his history, he doesn’t deserve to be loved.

When Summer’s honesty, kindness, and exuberance for life changes his perspective, the two discover they are in deeper than either dreamed possible. But when Malcolm discovers Summer’s been perpetuating a lie, will he forgive her? Even if forgiveness is possible, can a man immune to love teach someone else to believe in it?

How about a little taste?

“How did you go through life with that name…?” Malcolm’s eyes flashed with happiness. “I mean, if I wrote it, people would crucify me. What were your parents thinking?”

Summer froze.

“I mean, do they love you at all?” Malcolm chuckled.

Summer’s feet refused to move, and her arms lay limp at her side.

“Summer?” Malcolm’s smile faded. “Sum?”

The sound of her nickname spoken by Malcolm did her in. She desperately fought the mounting tears.

Malcolm stared at her. “It’s not your name you’re upset about, is it?”

Summer clenched her jaw and shook her head.

“I’m sorry.” His voice was low and modulated.

She nodded, looking at Malcolm, and wanting, for the first time ever, to have someone make it all okay. To have him make it all okay.

Malcolm grew quiet. They stood there for whole minutes. “I’m sorry if I touched on a sore subject. Really.”

Summer stared at him—this man who had everything except the answer she needed. How could he be so closed off? How could he care so little about the pain of another living creature?

He stepped forward then, as if reading her mind, took her hand gently, and leaned over, speaking quietly into her ear. “It’s not that I don’t care.”

Those few words found a place deep in Summer’s soul.

Malcolm stood tall, and Summer’s eyes followed him. He reached out and stroked her cheek. “But I’ve got nothing more to give than today.”

My Review:
Summer Wynters, improbably-named veterinary surgeon, is fresh out of her training and fresh off a break-up with Dr. Brad, her former professor and future practice partner. Summer wants a summer of flings, to bed a bad boy before she falls into the staid life. Her sights are set on mega star Malcolm Angel, an acquaintance of her childhood friend, Jeannette.

Meeting Malcolm comes with a caveat: he’s a one-night only guy who only dates models. That’s it. Take it or leave it. Summer will have to pose as a model in order to attract his attention, despite how uncomfortable she in in her own skin. Still, she does take it, but Summer leaves it, too, when she thinks Malcolm’s making it kinky far past her boundaries. It’s a misunderstanding. One that challenges Malcolm, and causes him to seek out Summer for an apology: hers. They get on well together, and, as the weeks pass and their friendship grows, Malcolm begins to confide in Summer about his tragic past. Unfortunately, she doesn’t reveal her true profession, and when it comes out–rather spectacularly in truth–Malcolm’s shattered by the deception. By then they had moved way past friends into a blossoming romance far beyond either’s expectations.

So, I had a little trouble getting into this book. Summer didn’t come off as warm or friendly to me, mostly because she’s super analytical about love not being real. I’m a trained scientist, and it still felt a bit pretentious, which is not my bag, baby. That said, I stuck with it and really enjoyed the slow-burn. I also wasn’t a fan of how Summer hid her education from Malcolm. He’d really shared a whole boatload of secrets, and her profession seemed quite trivial in comparison. There’s a bit of a snit between Summer and Jeannette, pretty much stemming from jealousy and pettiness, that needs to get worked out, and Dr. Brad is not the harmless dude he’s first described as, which made me lose the initial sympathy I’d had for him. That was good because her mild descriptions of him made Summer look more callous than she was–part of why I didn’t really warm to her, in the beginning.

The building bonds between Summer and Malcolm are sweet to experience, and the resolution is so tender. I’m a sucker for a man who loves dogs, and Malcolm is that. If you like rock romances, I think you’ll probably like this one. It’s got a bit of steam, and two folks who find their perfect fit.
